Needle felting a little bird from wool is the topic of this week's video tutorial, and our inspiration is the sweet little Tufted Titmouse. If you have been wanting to learn how to needle felt small birds, check out this lesson. We will needle felt a little titmouse from core wool, and you will see how easy it is to bring this little needle felted bird to life. We will finish him off with the diy bird legs we made on last week's show, and add glass eyes. Join us this week for a live tutorial on super easy ways to make needle felted birds. The supplies needed are minimal and we will be sharing what we used in this video.

Please leave your fave take away or question...or tips!
These are super cute! I saw a finished one on our FB group page. My fave take away is how well the feet support the bodies! That was super clever! I will make it to a WW yet but I'm very glad to see them even after the fact. Thanks for all the great tutorials & info.
Fave takeaway is the use of a core. All work in the past has been smallish and used the color wool. Seeing how to make a step-by-step core plan is SO helpful. Thank you.
Best best clearest way to do a bird! I'm excited to try ... Right noe!
I’m very new to needle felting. Loving, loving, loving your videos. You are such an amazing teacher and the way you guys have the cameras set up and questions being asked is extremely informative.
The one thing that I really have questions on right now is needles, you talk about a spiral needle at round needle, different gauges. I need some kind of a tutorial on needles and what they do, and when you use them!
Symmetry of the eyes!!!! My take away!!! Fabulous!!
Oh missed your live. So glad i can watch it later. Thank you
Using felt as the base of the wing sure looks like it makes it easier! Especially to get the wings the same size
I watched the LIVE, and now I'll watch the replay to try some of my skills! THANK you for posting tutorials and leaving them up for us to watch over and over!!
I’m going to have to take pictures of all the birds in my backyard
I love your tutorials and the fact that although I can't always watch them live I can catch up later. You are lovely giving people, the very best !
Favorite take aways are the paper template for checking sizes, and also using the felt sheet to start the wings and tail.
Happy to be watching live or replay.
Happy wed! So glad u hv replays! Thank u all for doing such a wonderful job! Ur positive attitudes r contagious!!!
my 'net died during the live, so thankful for the replay! Love the video can't wait to try !!! :)
I found out I won a prize and it has already shipped. Y’all rock! I can’t wait to make this bird! Thank you.
Definitely going to try this technique! Thank you Marie and faeries!!!
my weekend project!
I love watching how you build up the body shape, you make it look so easy 🙂
I watched on our snow day. I could see one of my dolls holding a little bird. I love the feathers. I always forget you can cut the wool to shape it.
Lots of great tips...using the felt sheets , loved it !
Great ring, Marie
Really enjoyed this so much !! It was my first time watching it live
I love your tips, the making wings and tail on felt is great.
Going to try and make birds. Love your web sight.
So pretty! Thank you! I missed the show but here for the replay!
I have wanted to make birds for awhile but was intimated by the feet. Your process is so easy, I love how they come out. Thanks.
My favorite take away is the pattern guide to help with sizing and dimension!
Very cool, I have titmouse that come out, too! Very sweet, but in a flock, wow they can produce some sound!
Sorry I had a Doctor appointment today so couldn't make the live broadcast. However, just popped up some popcorn and am settling down to watch my favorite show.
🤗🥰
Love the feet, so realistic. So fun to make.
Great idea to use doll needle to line up the eyes!
Can’t wait to try a bird!
This was so wonderful to watch. My mom is very much into birds! I want to try to make a bird for her for Mother's Day! I loved the paper steps! It really helps take the unknown away and gives me something to work towards! Thank you!
Watched the replay and this bird is so cute!
Once again so helpful! I learned how to make those beautiful thin wings. You are so helpful and I’m enjoying my journey into needle felting instead of frustration! ❤️
This was such a sweet little project! So happy that I was able to watch Wooly Wednesday live this week! :)💗
Always such great tips for felting
I’m watching the replay. I love birds and I look forward to challenging myself to create felted ones using your techniques. Thank you.
Getting a restart on felting and your WW events are helping regain confidence. Especially great that you chat about why as well as how. Thanks. Have a selection of your wool waiting to become something!
Watching the replay and love all the helpful tips!
Marie you sound like you have a cold! I hope you feel ok. I can’t wait to make my bird!!
I think today's description of "to the core" was the best I have heard yet. It really resonated with me. I also loved the tip to use felt for the tail and wings!
love the spring theme!
This project had lots of great tips. I especially liked using the needle to determine proper eye placement and again for the leg angle. So simple, but such a helpful trick.
Love this birdie! Can't wait to make one!
These are SO stinking cute!
So I was a klutz yesterday and sprained my wrist and shoulder, all I could think was at least it's not my stabbing hand and I'll still be able to needle felt 😂 also my favorite tip is always the meat comparison firmness test, it helped me incredibly when I was new and I still use it to check things I felt before adding fur or feathers just to be sure things hold their shape and fiber stays in place, happy woolly Wednesday! 💖💖
Hope you get well soon!
Just found your site, I’m 🥰 your tutorials!
pre cut felt
shapes would be so helpful, great tip!
I love the little bird. Something I want to do.
She glad you did this tutorial. I loved the beak and feet one last week and had been looking forward to this one all week. I’ve been wanting to make birds for awhile now but the feet intimidated me until now. This little titmouse is so cute! Can’t wait to give him a try.
I am still in the process of completing my bird, I loved the picture that came with the digital download, so I am going to try those colors, blues are one of my favorite colors! There was soo many different tips and suggestions that I cant just pick out one of them. I cant wait to see what my bird will turn out!
This really inspired me to make a Blue Jay! Very cute and thank you for all the great tips!!❤ Sad I missed the stream will catch ya'll next time
Wonderful! I’ve been making felted birds for years, but I learned so much from your tutorial today! I can’t wait to try your techniques. I started making birds so I could use lots of colors and I liked that I could make something life-sized. Then I actually became a birder just 3 or 4 years ago, so my appreciation of them has grown so much more! Among my bird books is one I’d like to recommend because it features life-sized birds in it, which is important to me. It’s called “Warblers and other Songbirds of North America” by Paul Sterry. Thank you again!
Favorite takeaways: using felt for the wings and tails (why didn’t I think of that?! Brilliant!), using a pin to get the eyes placed symmetrically, the coverts, and cutting them for more detail. Wow!
Thanks for the book mention!
Another great session! My favorite take away is to use felt sheets for the wings and tails. As always Marie, I really appreciate your conversational instruction, I always pick up some tidbit to use later just listening to you explain why and how you are doing what you are doing as well as mentioning different ways it could be done. I have made some wacky style birds but will definitely use the techniques you have used in last weeks and this weeks sessions to make some birds with a slightly more realistic essence. 😊
Thank you for these wonderful tutorials - love all of your energy and expertise. Very excited to make some wee birds. Legs and beaks ready to go. Wish me luck haha 🥰
Watching the replay!! Tufted titmouse birdies are so cute! Hoping to make one soon!
I always so enjoy watching you live, Marie, and this time I tried to felt along but I'm pretty slow and never want to miss a thing so put it down for later. Really loved your wing technique and how beautifully they came out. Also liked the options you gave for the crest. This morning I got inspired to try my Solar Bee after watching the owner's special video and hope to practice with it making a whole flock of birdie bodies to finish as different species.
I've been struggling with a penguin wing. I didn't expect to get a help with it... As always you surprised me and helped me. I didn't expect to use felt sheer to make wings. (Why?.. I'm not sure...) Thanks as always for sharing your beautiful skill. I hope to catch you live some day. Thanks for your help today.
I plan to do a pied wagtail which we have around the Hebrides in the summer.
Fantastic! Thanks so much.
You are so helpful
Great show as always. Nit sure if my question was answered in the live feed so here it is again. How long does it take from start to finish to complete one of these birds to the satisfaction of Marie? Great to know approximate time so I can judge my time line. Thanks so much for all you do to teach us these techniques.
I’m new and have made a few simple items and want to start making more difficult items. I just moved to Augusta, ME and hope to find a place nearby for needle felting classes.
I just had a flashback to Romper Room!
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial - you are EXCELLENT at explaining everything, Marie!!! May I ask if the PDF is available - and where I can download it from?
I love this little bird and how you made it! Where can we find the template for how the different shapes should look?
I was able to create bird now on to beaks and feet.
Merci
❤️Love tufted....just watched only today . Still on meds from surgery 🥲
Donna from Montana here and I’m going to make a goldfinch. We don’t have titmice here
Hi I’m a newbie (Debra) from Lincolnshire UK
i always miss the live lesson
Just found you ! Hoo wooo
Would love to make an English Robin redbreast.
Where do you get this pattern you show? Is it a digital download .
Lol, for a moment, I actually thought I'd found one of your lives LIVE. But no, I'm in Melbourne, so, given its Wednesday.......unlikely. 🙄
YAY
