These guys are from Gibraltar but all the fame and glory they´ve got came from Spain. Should it be for British fans, they´d never got to where they´ve got. Having said this, i love their music and still listen to it today.
When they were an unsigned band called Treehouse, they spent some time doing gigs in Madrid and left their demo tape in a bar there. The guy running the place liked it and was playing it when a Sony Spain executive happened to be at the bar (I think he was the guy in charge of promoting Pearl Jam in Spain). That original demo sounded a lot like Pearl Jam, it was more Rock than Pop-Rock. He heard it, and signed them up (they had already returned to Gibraltar thinking their adventure was over). This is why they broke the Spanish market. That's where they were signed and promoted. All the songs in their first album had original lyrics in English, but they were re-written in Spanish and that is what was released in Spain. There was actually an edition of that same album with the English lyrics, but I never saw it outside Gibraltar. The Treehouse demo had 5 tracks. 4 did not make it to the first Melon Diesel album, but one did. Big Old House, which became "Se Acabó la Fe".
