Hey everyone I’m Abbey Sharp welcome to Abbey’s Kitchen. In todays video, we will be talking about easy healthy breakfast recipes that are cheap and affordable. Eating healthy shouldn't make you go broke, so I've gathered a bunch of recipes I've made that are balanced, nutritious and ultimately delicious. These are fast, on the go recipes that are super affordable for those looking to save!

Yes!!! There is so much out there about breakfast, lunch is the forgotten meal. More easy lunch ideas please!

Lunch suggestions for all the commenters having a problem with that:
I always prep a carb (quinoa, rice, millet etc) + protein (beans, chickpeas, lentils) + veggies (raw or roasted).
Then I mix it up but I use different dressings to make it either a salad (add spinach and a oil vinegar dressing) or a Mexican bowl (add Mexican spice mix and oil) or Asian bowl (add soy sauce or sweet chili sauce). That way you get all the good stuff without it being boring and the same flavour every day.
wake up and smell the coffee please. Peanuts, flax seeds, chickpeas, lentils, and beans have no protein. DIAAS shows that less than 20% of the protein on the nutrition label is actually being absorbed by your body from plant-based products (DIAAS is the protein quality scale, showing how much of the protein is absorbable by your body). Compare this to eggs, meat, or cheese, where 100% of the protein is absorbed and can be utilized. Also, plant-based sources do not have creatine, the essential amino acid needed to grow muscle. I understand how you got sucked into this cult of plant-based garbage, I was too. Abbey is a liar and is manipulating us all. As a previous sheep, I say to you, flee from that rotten shepherd.

I made the pancakes with pumpkin puree instead of bananas once, they turned out well. Perfect for fall! Would love to see more meals as a series!

Right now I am loving my overnight oats. I use 1/2 a cup of quick oats, 2-3 tbsp chia seeds, one cup 2% milk, a few shakes of ground cardamon, and a few drops of liquid Sucralose. Keeps me full for 5+ hours.

I think it'd be really interesting to see you react to nutrition and diet culture-y scenes in movies... Not necessarily movies about, like, ED, but movies where it's more casually thrown in. I'm sure viewers could probably offer suggestions cuz there's a lot of questionable things from 80s to 2010s movies.

One for me is in the Disney movie Ice Princess, three figure skaters order lunch at the snack bar and they order: "a BLT, hold the B, heavy on the L", "one beef patty, squish it until it's dry" and "a salad, iceberg lettuce, garbanzo beans, and a lemon wedge. And a quarter-cup of cheese."

I love the oatmeal you made. i tend to do it as a baked oatmeal which is the family favorite. I sometimes mix the peanut butter with Greek yogurt and swirl it into the oatmeal.

Yup…..me too. I cut it in squares, wrap individually and freeze. To serve….thaw, warm with some milk, top with yogurt and berries.
I love that you included some of my favorite things like the protein nutmilk, peanut butter, and banana.
People always look at me like I’m crazy when I say this but squash is a great replacement for banana if you don’t have bananas or don’t like them or whatever. Provides the sweetness and extra fiber and all the nutrients that come with all the different varieties of squash.

@@AbbeysKitchen I was formerly manipulated by you. I lost my period and gained fat, while losing muscle, all while following your "healthy eating" habits. You liar, you make me so enraged. Please, ell your followers about the DIAAS. Plant-based sources of protein actually have no absorbable protein. Peanut butter isn't healthy, and we both know it. From anti-nutrients to excess calories and unhealthy fats shrinking our cell membranes and therefore longevity (look up Dr. Franz's study), peanut butter is horrible for us, and yet you promote it so frequently. I can't believe I fell for it. And look at me now. You robbed me of so much, and how dare you continue to rob so many others.

Ok but I've been making your protein oatmeal recipe every morning this week. I am in love and it keeps me full way longer than anything else!
When I make batches of cooked oatmeal, I cut up some dried dates for the sweetness. I do meal prep overnight oats, but I heat mine up at work (and sometimes use brewed coffee as my liquid-add a drizzle of chocolate syrup and it’s like a mocha coffee!)

This video is exactly what i’ve been looking for!! As i’ve gotten older i’m more conscious about adding variety to my meals and as a university student breakfast is a little hard. These recipes all look so yummy and not very time consuming so will definitely be trying these!!

I have a mini pot that has the right size for one serving of oatmeal, so i make it fresh almost every morning in the colder months. The cleanup between one small pot and one bowl is pretty much the same. It's also sth. that my stomach really likes. My go to is flax seeds and penut butter as well. For toppings and extras, i usually have a big jar where i mix nuts and dried fruits etc. Whenever the jar gets a bit lower i top it up with whatever i feel or what's onnsale and shake the jar, so that's how i get vatiety.
But did anyone noticed how cool 😎 is her kitchen. Having the Faucet right on top of the stove 🤯

My lunch each day are burger patties, veg and a starch as mostly potatoes of some form plus butter on my veg or avocado on the side.Pretty happy with that!Somedays protein is a runny egg and that is divine for me.

Fav lunch most of the stuff is from Trader Joe’s: a recreation of the Panera chicken Baja bowl: frozen brown rice from tj, tuna or shredded chicken, edamame, grape tomatoes cut up, cowboy caviar from tj, salsa verde, greek yogurt. So filling and delicious!!
I love making a baked oatmeal at the beginning of the week, I make it in a 9x13 and I like to add either grated carrots or zucchini. Then every morning I cut off a slice, microwave, and maybe add some jam on top yum
I make my own version of the busy breakfast: 2 pieces of bread with hummus or cheese + a jogurt where I add protein powder, a fruit, cashews and chia or flax seeds (and sometimes chocolate sprinkles). It's glorious

I love your videos Abbey! I always start my days with oats (made with whole milk) and just change up the toppings. I top my oats with apple and walnuts, banana and peanut butter, or blueberries and chia seeds. For me, oats are perfect all year round, especially in the winter when I need a hot breakfast before venturing out into the blistering cold to catch the bus for work. Oh, and I always, always have a cafe latte at breakfast. Yep! That’s how I start my morning ❤

Super helpful. I ate breakfast today for the first time in forever. Eggs with spinach and cheese, pb toast, half an orange. Im coming off of a few years of keto and intermittent fasting. It was working for me, i mean i lost weight... but I guess i just got sick of it and i really missed eating REAL bread, pasta and rice. And potatoes lol. Im hoping i can develop a healthy relationship with food where i dont feel deprived and dont resort to starving myself.
My version of the cereal is milk (usually oat or soy milk), a serving or so of peanut powder, a serving a nutravege omega-3, then I stir in frozen raspberries, and break up any clumps, then dump in a bunch of Froot Loops. Keeping the raspberries frozen helps stop the cereal from getting soggy too fast.

My Dad served a very light supper and surprise surprise 1 hr later I was hungry again. So I made your protein cereal. I used Weetabix and added some frozen cherries that I microwaved, and chocolate protein powder. It was delicious.

fav new thing - throw rolled oats with milk in the microwave for 1.5 min. and honestly, they turn out great.

I shop seasonal produce locally. So my oatmeal toppings change with the seasons. ❤ it’s almost a meditative practice.
And I’m usually maple syrup and brown sugar. I live in Maine so maple syrup is in our pantry always. Lol

You have to check out Nadiya Hussain's Egg tortilla. They are amazing. I make them all the time since they are so easy and so customizable! Feel like they are a great from a HCC perspective too.
I made those sheet pan pancakes for a Mother’s Day brunch I hosted for my sister and momma in law a few years ago. It was great and the leftovers i was able to give to my sister in a plastic bag 😂

Because of Abby I am using cottage cheese every single day for my protein smoothie or scrambled eggs! I also love toast with cottage and tomatoes on the top+hemp hearts (again bcs of Abby)

To make oat porridge sweet must be a culttural thing. Where I’m from it is suposed to be salty, but adding peanut butter seems like a good idea.

When I first saw this, I was weirded out by peanut butter and blueberries in oatmeal as I was a brown sugar and cinnamon girl pretty much my whole life. But, Abbey, girl, I almost always put blueberries on my oatmeal! 😋 Now, I'm back writing this recipe down as an act of self care. ❤

If you use a shaker for the protein shake in the cereal you can add it after the cereal ;) it's also easier to get rid of the lumps in my opinion

Fabulous video! What are some DF options for the French toast recipes with the cottage cheese? Dairy free yogurt? I’d love a day of eating recipes with being dairy & gluten free.
