As a dietitian, this is such a great concept. Though as some point as a society, to improve health overall we need to think of food as medicine. Sure we have craving for processed food, and has bad experience that people shame other people for eating certain foods. But has anyone thought of why we crave for processed foods as soda, chips, lucky charms, fast food? It’s because of the ingredients in the food that alter out our taste buds. So while this concept is great add protein, fat, fiber on top of these foods, as a society we need to be real that these processed food at the end of the day is not great for us(not because of someone say is good or bad) but the fact they alter our gut microbiome, changed our state buds. Humans aren’t designed to eat “faked” food. If you are someone who believe that food is medicine, I think that’s how you truly heal your relationship with food. Foods is not bad or good based on what someone say but really how does affects your physically body ? Your bacteria ? Gut? Brain etc. I have so many patient because they weren’t taught to read label and now has to pay the price later in life. It’s all about support business that producing real ingredient in cereal, chips etc. I’m sure lucky charm giant company is big enough that they don’t need us to promote their cereal.

Honestly I think if they're too hunger crushing, maybe it's better not to eat so much of those. I have the same issue, but I am younger than Abbey so probably need more energy, and I also can't eat large volumes. I often would end up eating a bunch of chocolate after a meal that I could barely finish (volume-wise) because I am still so hungry but stuffed. So idk if you get full too easily, just from my personal experience I don't see a reason to focus on crushing hunger if I need to eat more lol. I was also underweight when I was younger. I just tried to add more vitamins and nutrients into my food without trying to make the "hcc". Now it's not as much of an issue since I am older and my metabolism seems to have slowed down.

I struggle so much with HCC because I have food allergies and digestive issues. I’m allergic to eggs, peanuts, treenuts, seeds, buckwheat, quinoa, and chicken. So that takes away so many protein and healthy fat options. Dairy also really irritates my stomach and I haven’t had it in years. So it’s very hard for me to have much of any of these unfortunately :( protein powders also bother my stomach even if they are plant based.

Great new style in this video! It feels to me as this video style would feel appealing to a younger audience. I can really relate to your teach sensitivity since I literally have the same issue plus if I eat sth overly sugary or with sugar crystals on or in it like sugar cookies then my tongue stings. I experience the same sensation after eating salt and vinegar chips (sadly my favorite taste of chips give me this sensation). Oh, I am trying to recreate something similar to Nutella but without nuts and without this insane sweetness that Nutella has. I experimented a bit with sunflower seeds, cocoa and milk powder, but my food critic (aka my nearly 5 years old daughter) is not convinced to eat it so I've to perfect it.
One more thing... I live in Sweden and here in Sweden there is a strong "Lördags godis" (in English "Saturday sweets") culture where children are allowed to eat as much sweets as they want on Saturday and parents should not give children any sweets on the other days of the week. Dentists in Sweden advice on this too! In my opinion this is not a healthy (not for teeth nor for our mental or overall health) approach. We let out daughter decide if she wants a desert after a meal or not. And we don't keep cookies or chocolate hidden away - we pack it all in clear containers and keep it as we would other food. And it's all fine! Sometimes she wants sth sweet and very often she doesn't. On the other hand I see young teenagers eating literally a whole chocolate bars on the way to school and in my opinion that's precisely the effect of restriction and this nonsense believe that stuffing your face with sugary things once a week instead of balancing it out is healthy.
Have a lovely day and thank you for reading my excessively long comment:)

Having orange juice as fear food and not actually liking juice is so real. I once ate half a cheesecake in 5 minutes when I was binging and purging and everyone that knows me knows I HATE cheesecake. When you’re deprived of food, everything is delicious even if you might not like it in other circumstances. Disordered eating is so strange how it compels us to do things we would never usually do. I saw some WEIRD stuff back in the day on those forums. (Like praying to food gods and making food effigies 😅)

I am slowly learning how to eat certain foods without concerns. This morning I wasn’t particularly hungry but knew that if I waited too long to eat, my stomach would not be happy. Not to get into TMI, but if I go for more than 14 hours between my last meal, it doesn’t end well. Anyways, I made a choice to eat what sounded good to me. I had a whole-wheat tortilla with a jalapeño and artichoke dip( literally about 2 tablespoons was left) 3 slices of chicken lunch meat and about a 1/4 cup of roasted nuts on the side. Yes, it might seem odd to some but that’s what sounded good to me. Drank some water, had finished my coffee before this😢 And now I am good to go til lunch😊

All of Abbey’s videos repeat the same moderation message over and over. While that may work for those with anorexic disordered eating, it is simply impossible for many other disordered eating. I’m sure a bulimic, binge eater, or obese person can really just have a massive jar of Nutella and bags of M&Ms sitting around their house. Sugar is addictive. Many people can’t eat just one handful. As Abbey had no personal experience with binge eating, she simply can not relate to addiction to food which is often just a physiological response to eating high sugar or sugar/fat combinations. Take these foods out of the diet and eating can return to normal.

Fellow binge eater here . I have found that having small amounts of foods that usually send me spiraling into a binge. Has actually been beneficial to me. Hear me out. Because it sounds crazy but by knowing that I have that food around and that I have the power to eat it whenever I want . It for some reason has eliminated binging sessions . It’s by RESTRICTING foods that lead to a massive binge . So if I tell myself I can’t have chocolate, cookies or chips in the house . I’m immediately going into a restrictive mindset . And because I know I can’t have it .. well I want it even more . So when I would eliminate / restrict foods from my household. I always ended up binging. I believe Abbey talks about moderation often because balance is so important .
I had anorexia at 12 yrs old . Bulimia from 18-21 yrs old and binge eating from 23-25 years old.
      Moderation is key.

Omg me too. My dad bought the giant box from Costco because I bought thin ones (way superior than the regular in taste and less calories) from Walmart a few times to make at home Oreo mcflurries. It was supposed to be a win-win: cheaper and less calories.
Then my mom bought cookies and cream ice cream (instead of plain vanilla). I’m basically screwed and downing half sleeves with milk each day. Not the goal!!!
Somehow I managed not to touch the ice cream yet but I know it’s not going to be as good because it’s in the deep freezer.

    Hey Abbey,
I was recommended a video on a "what i eat in a week- intuitive and vegan". Unfortunately it is in German, but I am quite curious on your opinion about the combination intuitive AND vegan.
Do you think somebody can really eat 100% intuitively and still be choosing only vegan ingredients?
have been vegetarian for years but always had those cravings for meat and fish, especially while my period. I eventually gave up restricting myself especially cause i wanted to gain weight too (and it works out really well!)
    Greetings from germany!

I was going to skip this video but I throughly enjoyed it! And left a lot of comments 😂 not a huge fan of hcc because fasting has worked for me. I’m a binge eater and not a good avoider which I feel like is more geared to hcc. That being said I can easily go into nutrient deficient and am still supplementing with a multivitamin. This reminds me how to make a more nutrient dense snack
I would skip the sweet potatoes in the smoothie (maybe try to add it if I actually liked the smoothie), have a normal sandwich and eat the croissant alone with chocolate milk/oj/or coffee. Same with the donut. Eat the box separately. Eat the donut alone with oj or coffee. Not a fan of plain m&ms. I like plain pancakes or add berries, both topped with honey. Syrup and butter is fine too, but honey is the easiest (I’m lazy). Peanut m&ms separately. I can finish a bag of those easily so I don’t even buy unless it’s on sale or I’m craving it in the checkout aisle.
I have yet to try the cereal with yogurt. I like cereal and milk and yogurt separately too. And both fill me enough to stop eating
