This is great, thank you! I watched this video close to a year ago and I’ve spent the last few weeks looking for it and finnnalllyy found it! I get my Avata in a couple days and this makes me excited!

The "Problem", is that the Avata is not meant for flying above trees, its meant to fly near to the floor, going through obstacles. Even though, you are getting far better distance than I ever did. Max I get, 10 feet off floor is 250 to 350m on flat moorland with no trees before losing signal, which to me is unusable, although I've not yet tried on latest firmware.
I thought considering the trees etc it did really well, any drone behind me would of done bad too 👍
Mate, CE mode, is bollocks. I know its for proximity flying, but the loss of signal issue makes it damn dangerous in some circumstances. You literally loose control, RTH. I've done plenty of flying with it. FCC mode gives you more confidence to go through, around objects, even at 100 150m.

I have both controllers, and I have to say that I'm having more fun with the motion controller than I thought I would. I have the motion controller with my DJI FPV drone, but never really used except for a test when I got the drone new. What a great drone the Avata is... Great test, I enjoyed the video. Cheers.
I agree 100% Darren flying this drone any distance from home point is pointless. For great FPV, low level flying and getting through tight gaps is the key to exciting video. I try to limit my avata to100m from home point, then i can physically walk up to a tight spot and measure if the drone can do it before i make the flight. Great video again, looking forward to more great avata content. And M3P also.

Really useful video thanks. The word “ FUN” sums the Avata up. It’s a totally different experience to other drones ( even the DJI FPV) and Im always excited to take it out but do find myself stopping more than I should on journeys when I see something to fly around! In FCC mode, RC-N1 & RM330 run at 25dBm/398mw.
CE Mode restricts this to 20dBm/100mw. Aircraft also limited to 100mw. For perspective, RC Pro runs at 33dBm/1995mw

I just got the Avata I'm in Florida. The Mbps only starts at 30 and has only went up to 32 Mbps. At 60 feet away it is at 27Mbps. Called DJI and was a waste of time. Any idea why I'm not getting 50 Mbps like everybody on utube is??? Same on Googles v2 and googles 2, 1080 and at 4k with motion controller. Thank You

Love your locations Darren. We have a place like that near us, Kielder Forest Northumberland. It has a massive reservoir with a forest round it. They also use the forest for top rally driving. Another great video Darren, keep them coming my friend.

Could you ever see yourself using it in like a travel video like a busy city centre for example? I love my mini 2 it’s enough for my channel for now! I’m so close to 1k I can almost taste it
Me personally, I'd say no, but then I wouldn't fly any drone, even my mini3 pro in a busy city centre.
I get DJI's hands are tied when it comes to what signal, you get in different countries, but they are responsible for the figures they give out for the specification of range they publish for a drone. The spec in CE land is 2000m, which I dont think anyone will argue is unachievable in the real world. People wouldn't probably have been as upset, if DJI had said, realistic flying distance of 250 to 500m, 2000m just makes DJI look dishonest.
To me it reminds me of broadband companies who used to inflate speeds when they said they you could get in comparison to what you could actually get. There is a reason they can't do that now by law.

Thank you for the video. For my purpose as to how I plan to use the Avata, the signal is good enough for me, but I am lucky because I’m in Canada.
Quick question regarding the white USB cable connected to your Goggles 2. Is that connected to your phone DJI Fly app and if so, are you using to live stream the video to your phone? If this is the case, I would definitely be interested in seeing a video on this! I haven’t purchased the Avata yet. I ended up purchasing the Mini 3 with the RC, which set me back a bit.
It’s going to take a bit of time to save some money for the Avata!
In CE Mode, it's limited to 25mw on the 5.8g band officially. 25mw is hopeless at such a high frequency. I imagine it's dual band and using 2.4g in that location out in the middle of nowhere. A range check in a heavy WiFi area might prove interesting... BTW, RC transmitters using the 2.4g band are allowed up to 100mw. Not sure it's the same when broadcasting video though.
Do the FCC hack, because it's shockingly bad value with such a poor RF output IMO....🤔😳😏🇬🇧
Video is often on different frequency, command & control remain in these ranges.

Like you say Darren it's a pain that we haven't got fcc but to be honest how far do people want to go with this sort of drone it's not meant for distance it's meant for having fun flying through obstacles having a great time. Well great video as usual my friend look forward to the next one 😁👍👌 🇬🇧

Rather than guessing it would be interested to see an actual comparison against a mini 2 or mini 3 as I have heard that these have dual band transmission channels whereas the avata has only a single frequency band, hence less signal penetration.

Think you could have extended this video by shooting in a building also to test IF it can do Cinewhoop style that's used extensively in advertising it.

Great video as always. I have a question, I noticed that my avata doesn’t go to the preset high when the auto RTH kicks in. It will return at what ever high it is, it could be 5ft or 100ft, when the auto return initiate. However it will got to the preset elevation when I press on the RTH on the controller. Have anyone else expected this issue.
I'm in the states, it seems like the DJI FPV has better signal than the avata. I'm using the old V2 Googles, not sure if that has anything to do with it ?

So, if I had a friend bring an avata over from the states, or Canada would it be the firmware update that limits the signal strength for UK or would I get full strength FCC signal? Sorry for probably a silly question but, novice with this sort of thing… 😊
It’s the dji app, even if you buy it in USA it’ll be good until you load up the dji fly app in the uk/eu. Even in ce mode the signal was more than good enough considering all the trees

Thanks for the video! speaking of flying ranges...would you [or anyone reading] kno what Id need to get my Avata to maintain good transmission between drone and goggles 2 [or its Motion Controller], when flying through thick trees, beyond the 150 or 200 meter range [on my own rural lands]? That range is where transmission weakens severly, the HD bars go 1 and then red, and vision is lost or very delayed and confused. We have "Wifi Range Extenders" for our internet range, is there some similar device i could rig for the Avata and its goggles 2? I need to go to about 350 yards thru trees for my purposes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've tried both CE and FCC in the UK and believe me there's not much difference between them. There is a really good video on this on here by RobHK called CE V FCC..... Watch it!!
I disagree with my own testing, default ce mode i get 250m and lose connection, same place with sd card hack, 1km and still 45mbit and 4 signal bars.

I always hacked my drones... I mean.. I need it on DJI Mini 1, and I think on DJI FPV I used ''B3YOND'' app that hacks the range. Mavic Pro has incredible range without hacking in EU
