Some recommendations: 1. In order to show what portals link up to each other, each set of portals should be a unique color. 2. The disappearing/reappearing blocks should sync up tot he music. (as should the shooting thingies) 3. Some mild screen shake and a sound effect when you hit the dash circles. 4. The jumping particles should either fade out or shrink, instead of just disappearing. The game is looking awesome, so keep up the good work!

Nicely done. Loving it, so far. Would like to test, whenever you get to that point! Also, this might sound counter-intuitive, but take it from someone who knows - Don't fall over yourself trying to implement other people's feedback and suggestions. Every time you get a critique, run it through what YOU think the game should be like, and if it doesn't match up, it's totally fine to ignore it. Otherwise you risk burning out, vanishing for nearly six months, and then remaking your entire game from scratch on a whim while your Discord wonders where you've gone. Cough.
Ayo, thanks heaps, Z! I'd love to have you as a tester - will be good to have some input from a professional game developer (alongside myself, obviously) Thanks a bunch for that advice, too. I'm doing my best to funnel a bunch of ideas at the moment, and then filter out the mechanics that don't fit, in a way. It's like making a Mario Maker level with only the features you've unlocked xD And I guess the game is still in a planning phase, which I suppose every game is in across development, so I think an open mind is a pretty *radical* idea. I really appreciate you sharing all of your experiences with this stuff, though, it's really helpful :) Hope you're well, Zed! :D

Ayyo, thanks so much for the nice comments! I'm glad you like the colour scheme and aesthetic - it's probably the thing I've struggled with most so far :P Yeah, RUclips loves to label my videos as Geometry Dash, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and a lot more hahah xD
Great video! I really like your editing. You made a lot of good points, but most of them apply to games in general and not really specific to platformers :) The game is looking pretty good, but I'm not really partial to the hyper-minimal aesthetic you've gone with; it usually ends up feeling a bit lazy imo. I would try to add more visual effects to combat that. There are many many different approaches to platformer movement, but the ones that I find most fun are those that focus on gaining and keeping momentum, like Celeste. That's what I'm trying to achieve with my own game (subtle plug). Your player seems to come to a complete stop very quickly, which I would only really do if I planned on having super precise platforming. Of course this is all just my opinion, but I play a lot of platformers so I think I'm well-informed on the subject. Good luck with your game!
Thanks for the great comment! I guess you’re right, haha, I didn’t really realise that a lot of what I talked about applied to different types of games :P The art style definitely will evolve over time, and as I polish up the game structure, I’ll develop the graphics along with it :) As for the acceleration, it is something I have considered a lot, and I really appreciate your take on it :) I’m doing my best to keep true to my original idea and the previous game that this was based on, and so I’m planning to keep in this movement system for the time being :) Hope this reply was helpful! :D
Great video! Interesting to hear your thoughts on the design of platformers and see the changes you made! Looking forward to the level design video as for this type of game that's probably going to be quite a challenge!
Thanks so much, Saul! After a year on RUclips, I’ve never really gone too much into detail on this topic in a video before. It was super refreshing to talk about something new, but also quite daunting, haha 😅 hopefully I’ll become a bit more confident with the next few devlogs :D Thanks for your great support, as always!
@@icoso Oh yeah I imagine, I mean it's a more design focused video, which some people love and some people don't, but you did a great balance between your usual style and a more in-depth design look!
for me personally a good story is what makes a good platformer (like celeste), because it adds weight to the game and makes it diffrent then the thousands of other platformers. hope you will do something with this if not i understand it takes alot of time to add a story.
Thank you for the comment! I'm definitely planning to implement a story in one way or another into Minima, but it's not going to be a main, main feature. It'll be available for those that want to participate in the story, but won't force players into it if they don't want to :)
I have a few questions that you can think about maybe or not implementing: will there be lore/npcs, will there be more abilities later on? will there be a battle mechanic, will there be easter eggs? What is your favorite feature you have made so far?
There will be a story, but it will be separate to the main gameplay - or, I’ll add a divided story mode to the game, too! I love Easter eggs, so yeah, I’ll make some for the game :D

Adding shaking for dying , and a rythem based enemies and platforms are good too, if you can't make songs make songs with the game sounds and environment , like your on and off platformed make sound it would make an atmospheric feel to game, and every object makes a sound which all of them makes a song
