When I hot comb my hair, I do it the same way. My mom did my hair until I was 15. She passed away and I had to remember what and how she did it. It was a lot of trial and error so I eventually got my hair relaxed for the next 25 years. Then, I went back natural and started pressing my hair. I like it better than flat ironing.
I remember when my mon used to do it when i was a child, i am 29 right now , but the time that we where together was great. When you grow up you realice the good moment in your life
Wash, condition, air dry, grease then straighten is ALL that was done to my hair as a child and it was soooo thick, healthy and way past my shoulders. This video brought back so many memories of my mom pressing my hair with royal crown or blue magic every other week. How often do you do yours?
@@tecklafurro2040 So in responding to the original post, I stand by my statement. I’m old enough to have lived back when that’s how people cared for their hair....back when EVERYBODY had hair and “looking for edges” wasn’t a thing. Before sprays that make your hair hard as a brick, glues, tapes and people walking around patting their head because their scalp itches so bad (fungus) and all the crap that makes the Asians and Indians rich and Black women baldheaded after the fungus destroys the roots of the hair. Nothing takes me back than to see healthy natural Black hair pressed with a hot comb or silk pressed. You are right pressing doesn’t cause your hair to grow, but if done properly, it won’t destroy it either.
I agree. But I remember being at my friend’s house when her mom would say “Pam! Get in here and get your hair did.” Pam would run hide. She was good. I couldn’t even find her. Her momma wasn’t the best at it. She’d burn the tops of her ears a little and her scalp. I liked when people would do my hair, but I never asked her momma to do it. 😂
You did an EXCELLENT job. 👏 👍You brought back memories for me. My mom would wash, press and put my hair in braids/ponytails when I was a kid. And it would literally last for a week at a time. Every Sunday evening, she did my hair for the week. A simple wash and press, and I was good. Her choice of hair grease back then was blue or black Dax. Oh, I forgot to mention the tight scarf and stocking cap to keep the style when I slept. 😄 LOL! 😊💖
My mom and grandma always used a paper towel to check if it was too hot. It it made a brown burn mark it was too hot to put into the hair. Then they let it cool a bit and test again.
You made me laugh talking about that Royal Crown sizzling 😂 I used to watch my aunt press my little cousin’s hair and will always remember that sizzle lol.
