Hey i just got some of the createx paints to practise on some random car parts i got from a scrap yard, it does say that i need to get 4030 to help it stick on the box is that the same as the clear coat your talking about or is that something else?
Just want thank you for paying Your amazing talent and teaching forward, I been airbrushing for years Your page and presentation is one of the best in Description ,tutorials ,and overall Airbrush Art I have watched through the years, and I have watched many, you never stop learning and getting better.
It’s great when you land on a RUclips channel that is so good you don’t need to search for anything else. For me it’s the venting that is prohibitive so I need to find a local artist to do the job I was going to take on in my kitchen thanks for the content
Fantastic , I started airbrushing with a Paasche VL I loved that brush Paasche make great products and I’m sure the H is a quality single action brush 👍🏻
You can get an ultra quiet air compressor with a gallon or larger tank and itll be about as loud or slightly louder than an oldschool fridge, but comparatively its several times quieter than a normal air compressor. This is what I'm about to do and I had a hard time getting a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter but hopefully it turns out well. Harbor freight puts them on sale often so its pretty nice and cost effective.
Great content thanks. What about ventilation ? Is it safe to airbrush acrylics in a bedroom with the window open, or will I need an extraction fan ? Thanks.
Can make a nice booth with a good fan and blow that right out a hose through your window. I'd still use a good mask when spraying though with any type of paint you send theif your brush. Atomized size particles are still present and you don't want them in your lungs.
Hello and thank you very much for posting your video(s). I find them very helpful. I am hoping you could help me with a couple of questions. I have a smaller antique safe that was my grandfathers. The paint is badly worn off. I will be sanding the entire safe and I plan on repainting it and adding a bit of art. I have NEVER used an airbrush! I would appreciate any suggestions for the following: 1) what BLACK colored paint product to spray the entire safe with once it is sanded to bare steel? 2) what paint product to use in my air sprayer? 3) what paint product to spray over the entire safe, in order to give it a clear coat as protection for the black paint and the artwork? Thank you very much in advance, it is appreciated!
Take a look at the GSI Creos PS.771 via the following **affiliate link 👉🏻 spraygunner.com/ps771-gsi-creos-mr-airbrush-custom-0-18mm/?aff=9 this is a brush equivalent to a micron CMC plus but less than half the price . **above contains affiliate links meaning we receive a small commission for any qualifying sales
It depends on what you want to paint with it. Personally I use it for miniatures so I need a double action gravity feed airbrush with 0.5 needle for vehicles and a 0.3, 0.2 needle for more detail.
For miniatures or small stuff, 0.3mm to 0.4mm. Lower then that may be a tad tricky to control, and higher then that, will be difficult to achieve good detail.
I make wooden toys as in construction equipment and trucks like semis dump trucks and wreckers. I use cans of spray paint which can be expensive and excessive overspray. I want to start using an airbrush so I can start.putting graffics and stripes on them. Do u have any advise that may help? Oh I really enjoy ur vedios on u-tube thanks
If it’s a hard wearing product like the Createx wicked colors range or SG100 intercoat clear by house of kolor both work fantastic as a sealer ...they still won’t be as durable as clear coat but I do use them to seal art for transport etc .. hope that helps 👍🏻
Im glad I have found your channel with your tips and tricks. I received my set (brush+compressor) yesterday and can't wait to start painting some 3D printed models. I have a Fengda FE-130 brush but i dont know what nozzle is on there.. Is there any way to know how big it is and what do you recommend to paint detailed 3dprinted models? Thx
Thanks for your kind words, look for any obvious marks on the rear of the needle (sometimes they have indicators of needle size) I remember the Paasche VL used to have 3 notches to indicate (number 3 needle) otherwise reach out to the manufacturer. For 3D models I would recommend a 0.3 or 0.35 mm setup that said if you have a 0.5mm that will be fine as well 👍🏻
@@AirbrushAsylum I found out that I have the 0.3mm needle but it can also take from 0.2 to 0.5mm which is great :) Thx for your fast answer and very helpfull videos
I feel like I should point out that a single action is actually quite useful, because you can dial down the spray to a very precise size, and then every single time you press the trigger you get the exact same spray, which means you can be extremely consistent for every line when painting a ton of small details. So while double action brushes are very versatile, and they are, single action brushes are extremely consistent. IIRC, single action brushes were far more common throughout movie model making studios like ILM and WETA, whenever physical models were needed.
Use products like House of kolor , DNA or other brands where you need to two pack clear them. I wouldn’t put two pack through your brush as the hardener can make cleaning a prob especially if left too long 👍🏻
I am a retired Big Game Taxidermist. I have recently started airbrushing again. Is there a paint on the market that I can use to duplicate the chrome pearl effect that you find on the gill plate of fish like Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna and Albacore Tuna. Can you give me your professional opinion. Thank You Sir
Hello. I want to start by saying I havent airbrushed anything yet and I love your channel, trying to learn. I recently purchased a airbrush kit and it has 3 airbrushes and a compressor, its Master brand. I looked online and the kit is about 160.00 US I got it new at an auction for 20.00 US. Are they okay airbrushes to start with or should I just scrap them and get an Iwatta? Thanks!
Hi Carsten: What paint would you recomend for painting wood and/or MDF scroll saw projects? Right now I'm using Rust-Oleum rattle cans but I want to add detail to my projects. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Chuck
Hi Chuck one of my students paints regularly on wood and he loves using Trident which if you are located overseas you can purchase through dna-paints.com or Australia wide through us airbrushasylum.com.au the other brand that you may find works well is the Createx wicked range as they adhere really well to almost any surface , hope that helps 👍🏻
I think the biggest mistake I made starting out was buying a cheep airbrush. As a starter a bad airbrush will make your work look worse than it is. A pro can manipulate a bad airbrush to look decent, but starting out, you're better off spending $100-$150 (at least) on a decent gun. It will save you a lot of frustration.
Yes you can but you will need to thin with the appropriate thinner also keep in mind they will take a long time to dry also, if you are going to use them then I would recommend sticking with enamel only for your projects don’t mix as you could have reactions 👍🏻🤞🏻
I cant find a video specifically on paints .. im brand new at this and trying to figure out how and when to use what paints ... im trying to do a wall mural but paint doesn't seem to cover well ... any help would be appreciated
Check to see if your paints are opaque or transparent. If it doesn't say on the bottle you can check the manufacturer's site and it usually says in the description. Opaque paints cover much better but transparent paints work great for certain effects!
Yes thinner, but the trident and Createx paints are waterbased so you use their reducer to thin their products whereas DNA , House of Kolor are automotive and you need to use solvent based reducers , hope that helps 👍🏻

Paasche H. It's what I got for Christmas years ago. Blasting train cars is what I need it for and what it's good at.
I am a very great artist and will be airbrushing for our car club thanks for the help
That’s fantastic thanks for your comment and glad you enjoy my vids 😉
Great video. Has given me inspiration to get an airbrush for painting and weathering my model trains. Many thanks for posting. Vivian.

3:42 could you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by handling the overspray and having an extraction? I plan to use this in my apartment.

What brand are the respirators at 7:59?
Do you clear coat with the airbrush?or a larger gun?
Could you use a car tyre for the compressed air?

I got an airbrush and a compressor at a yard sale for 15 bucks I mean dont get me wrong it wasn't very high quality but 15 bucks is a steal

HELP? Please tell me what the difference between reducer and cleaner is? what is the chemical active ingredient?
