it's awesome seeing you work with a lot of people involved with the behind the scenes of this game and the people running the platforms it's hosted on. your videos have been without a doubt the best resource for me when it comes to learning the system so to see people like that recognizing the work you put into the community rules c:
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm very lucky that the folks at Marvel and Demiplane like CJ and Mellie are extremely gracious, passionate and generous with their time.
This is fantastic!! Demiplane has knocked this out of the park. Also, Fuzzy, you, sir, are on a roll. Thank you for all your work and passion for Marvel Multiverse rpg.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. And I agree whole-heartedly re: Demiplane - the software just takes the game to a new level. Don't get used to 3 videos a week though - I need to catch up on sleep this weekend!!!!! :-)
Great overview my friend! What I can say about Demiplane is that the United States Navy taught me to operate, maintain, and repair the most advanced weapon system on the face of the earth, and I can't figure out Roll20 on my own. Demiplane is so intuitive and the user experience is so easy to learn, I actually felt that using the interface taught me the game as we were playing that demo you ran for me before Gen Con. And it definitely makes theater of the mind run smoothly.
@@FuzzyOnTheDetails I'm not sure how much it offers, but it has a decent variety of options. I've been using Dungeon Alchemist. They have a small number of future looking options. Some of their "medieval" appears fairly modern.
some nice things coming to the game by DEMIPLANE i do like how the tech Powers & Gear can now break and how it looks when it breaks . the Reavers would be really fun villains to have in a campaign now and now there Powers and Gear being able to break .
Great video Fuzzy, loved the interview 😊 Random question, been following you from early on and I dont recall seeing you discuss Cataclysm of Kang too much. I know you have referenced the vehicle rules a few times. What are your thoughts on the adventure itself? Is it one you've run or would run? I'm about halfway thru running it now and its been interesting. I thought it might be interesting for you to do some campaign journals, I'd love to hear some stories about the games you've run. Keep up the good work.
I *think* I chatted about it a little bit in the Deadpool Review. The short version is I ran it and enjoyed the first couple of chapters, but we kind of lost momentum towards the middle. It happened to be at the point where the heroes were facing a lot of the tanks and helicopters, and I think it was a combination of the rules not really working for me at the time, and also the repetitiveness of coming across so many Hydra agents. Also, Kang has always been my least favorite marvel suepr-villain (probably because i never liked time-travel stories), and so I wasn't really interested in seeing it through to the end. Finally, once the Getting School rules came out, my group decided we rmuch preferred the slower burn or ranking up once after each session, rather than a full rank jump after every three or so. So that just didn't mesh well with CoK's pace. So most of the issues I had with CoK were purely personal preference. I didn't think it would be fair of me to review or formally critique something i didn't finish. I know most people really enjoyed it, so I'm definitely the outlier.
@@FuzzyOnTheDetails I do recall you mentioning that now you say it. I'm at the point of alot of tanks and helicopters now, I'm intentionally trying to avoid oversaturation of those in favour of more of the side villains and more focus on the impact to civilian life. Which I think the module should do itself. I've kinda blended getting schooled in so they generally get 3-4 advances before shifting to the next rank, but I think I'll be slowing down advancement with my next campaign. I'm hoping the next module focus play across maybe just 2-3 tiers, rather than the full spread. You have to jump thru some narrative hoops to justify ranking from 1 to 6 across one narrative I think.
I've given this some thought, but I don't see how it is feasible. Demiplane is a separate company. If people who bought the hardcover could register it to avoid "rebuying" it on Demiplane, that means no revenue going into the company, and no way to pay the devs, and, ultimately, no character creator anymore. Even if it was a discount, why would one company give a discount for money given to a different company? I don't think I've ever seen that model work before, with two companies involved. If I'm missing something, I'd be really interested in hearing about it!! I know there's a perception that buying the product on Demiplane is like buying the book twice, but, to me, it doesn't feel that way at all. 1) With Demiplane, I can share the content with several groups of people I play with. Sometimes gaming groups share the costs, so instead of 1 person buying a 50 dollar book, 5 people chip in 10 bucks, and they can all access the book at the same time. That obviously can't be done with a hardcover. I can't stress this enough - In my experience, the ability to do this absolutely turns people who are casually interested in the game into fans. It is so easy to get started playing, and SO easy for me to run games using it. That's why I put this as my #1. 2) Demiplane takes a compendium approach, meaning all the books are cross-referenced with hyperlinks, easy searchable, and of course, instantly updated not only with errata but with any free content they can get their hands on. 3) Obviously, the character builder, which is extremely high quality. I use it as much as a toy as a game aid. I'm a little... uh... fanatic about this game, sure, but it is legit fun jto me ust making characters with that tool. Now, for ME (and obviously this is only a personal opinion, and not one I would ever try to force on anyone), all of the above is worth the purchase price. But I can definitely empathize with those who feel differently. I'm not exactly sure what the future holds with Roll20 and Demiplane merging, but I have to imagine that those two companies coming together will mean they can offer the VTT experience PLUS the character creation and compendium approach all together at a much reduced price. And that might make it more palatable for some. We'll see!
Hi! Mellie gives an update on this towards the tail end of our conversation - Demiplane is working to get export to PDF functionality for all of the games they support by end of this year. They've already for a few done, but no further details at this point on the specific order in which they tackle that workload.
Bit of a random question. Will you be reviewing either of the dossier packs due for release. Ideally, I'd like to know more before purchasing these as I have made my own screen (needs updating because of x-men book) and I have hundreds of marvel heroclix and maps for these that I've purchased over the years. Thanks for the cracking content, it's been great. 🎉
Like you've, I've already made my own Narrator screen and have a ton of heroclix. I don't need a "dry-erase battle board", so there's nothing of value in the "Multiverse" Dossier for me. For the "Kang" one... I think they missed the boat. Speaking for myself, I've already played as much Kang as I'm ever going to play, and I've made the terrain I needed to play through it. So there's nothing in that Dossier that's of value to me. Other RPGS I've played have maps and miniatures available shortly after the adventure is released, and man, I've thrown a stupid amount of money at those kind of supplements in the past. I remember when Pathfinder's Reign of Winter came out I bougth soooo many boxes of miniatures to collect all the figures I've needed... and then the campaign crapped out somehwere around book 3, and i never even used most of them. If there was a themed HeroClix set that had the playable characters from the Deadpool adventure in it, plus the Headmen, some drones, and the big boss at the end.... I don't even want to admit how much money I'd drop on that. I'd have paid for the maps, too. So... I don't know if I'd be reviewing the Dossiers because I definitely won't be spending money on them. And I've been so critical of CMON I doubt they'd give me a review copy lol.
This site is great! Is there a limit on how many characters I can create or what rule sets I can use without the pay wall? I own al the books and don't mind looking up the rules if I can build the characters without having to buy the books again.
@@Stamatos That’s a good question, I’ve never tried to use the character creation tool without actually owning the books so I have no idea what the experience would be. The best way to “try before you buy” is to see if someone you play with has Demiplane and can share their content with you, then you can get full access to what they’ve got. If someone has a Demiplane membership they can share all their stuff with up to 24 people at no cost. All you would need as a recipient would be a free Demiplane account.
Howdy Stamatos! You can have up to 7 characters at a time on your account, though a subscription (4.99/mo) lets you have as many characters as you can possibly make (across all Nexuses!) There is a handful of free content that Marvel allowed us to offer so that folks can try out the character builder/sheet and see if they like it. You can find some free characters linked on the home page, and any powers/traits/tags/etc. that they have are available free in the character tools, so while you won't have everything, you'll have a solid selection to play around and give it a shot!
