    Brilliant and modest Monarch, may his reign be long, happy and prosperous. Oldest and best form of Government ever, monarchs are difficult to bribe, thinks hundreds of years ahead not next election cycle, and well educated to make informed decisions. Similar to physical Gold and Silver, not perfect but it is the best we have for Government and money. Highly recommend arming the Lichtenstein to the hilt, lots of jealous neighbors in this world.

      Ironically, a common argument against hereditary absolute monarchy is the question of what would happen if the King gets mentally ill. Well, we have a perfect example of that right now! The King of Saudi Arabia suffers from dementia, and voilá the problem has been solved within the Royal family such that the Crown Prince has assumed the ruling role. And wow, how Saudi now rises to true independence, achieves peaceful regional security, and boosts economic develoment.
      Compare that with the USA whose president also suffers from sever dementia. The democracy fails to handle this situation. So Joe Biden keeps on insulting every head of state he mentions, with devastating effects for the 30+ years old US world hegemony. As in the story about the Emperor without clothes, the US Empire suddenly crumbles as the rest of the world turn their back to it in a movement that once started has become as unstoppable as an avalanche. All US soft power is being erased in short order, including the dollar currency/credit bubble. And the US industrial/military hard power when put to the challenge turns out to be pretty impotent compared with expectations. Because the elected president suffers from mental illness and fails to keep up the appearances and credibility required in the game of playing out everyone else against each other in order to maintain an over-stretched empire.

      Except Liechtenstein pretty regularly gets invaded on accident by Switzerland. Switzerland, with the largest rate of arms ownership in Europe by their military system. Switzerland, who has vowed to protect Liechteinstein in times of war. Nobody in Liechtenstein’s vicinity is a danger to its security. Take your pills or learn some geography.

    Watching this in the USA in 2021, I would give a lot for a leader w/even a fraction of this man’s intelligence and class.

    I bought his book during my visit to Liechtenstein a few weeks ago. Great read, I highly recommend it! It’s called “The State in the Third Millennium”.
    He’s the finest statesman Europe has - intelligence, class and humility.

    It wasn't Churchill. It was Bismarck. "Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made," quipped Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), the Prussian statesman. A minor error in the larger context of a brilliant lecture and some mediocre questions. I would like to see His Serene Highness, Hans-Adam II, address the United Nations General Assembly in September 2024, and will recommend that he do so so in a letter to Vaduz. It is noteworthy that when Kurt Waldheim died in Vienna, the only head of state invited to his funeral, was this gentleman!

    It's for those who are fed up with "woke culture".

    I can understand the monarch having veto power. It offers a check and balance against lobbying both sides of Parliament. Then having it go to the popular vote of the public makes sure it is something the people want.

      Does he beat King Charles III? Anyway, it is a private fortune, he hasn't taken a Franc out of Liechtenstein's tax monies. His ancenstor actually bought throne of Liechtenstein in the 18th century in order to get a vote in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (sort of the EU of the day).

    I disagree with an elected president replacing a hereditary absolute monarchy, if he/she only has a veto right. Many presidents have such (partial) veto rights, in the US and France for example. The hereditary monarch has the incentive of a farmer, to consider the very long term good of his/her domain. Just see how well managed most farms have been through the centuries!
    One example of the advantage of an inherited absolute monarchy over democracy we see in Saudi Arabia today. Both the president of the USA and the King of Saudi Arabia suffer from sever dementia. The US system is incapable of handling this, and so the dementia of the insulting ignorant president ruins US relations with all heads of states in the world (except those who are mere US puppets i.e. the Western democracies). Quickly putting an end to US hegemony on the world stage in a way very rarely seen in world history. While in Saudi Arabia this medical problem has been solved within the Royal family, so that the crown prince has taken over the day-to-day business of ruling the realm. And see how Saudi Arabia very skillfully handles a cruical transition in world politics to the benefit of its own independence, regional security and economic development.

    His Serene Highness' take on that last question, the view of having that veto power over the decision taken by the Parliament is not very convincing

    • @yagi3925
      @yagi3925 3 месяца назад

      Why is it not convincing? Not all countries have a 100% democratic constitution and they’re not necessarily worse off.
