    That's a good example of a powerful woman. One that can look cold and distant to reach the level of high fashion and eloquent enough to inspire with simple words a positive message.

    • @pp2072
      @pp2072 5 лет назад

      Viral Videos don’t mistake gay-awe with the true unmotivation she’s splurging out. This woman is so engulfed with media, that she’s a mere shadow of what she used to be, and that’s SAD!

    • @MrsScott-bx8sb
      @MrsScott-bx8sb 3 года назад +2

      I keep seeing "cold" used to describe Anna, but I have yet to see one interview, one documentary, one speech, one Q & A where she seems cold. She doesn't seem to me to be any of the commonly used negative terms put upon her. I just think people still don't know how to well describe a successful career woman and leader. I also think the American audience completely misunderstands her British and cultured poise and humor. What an American might call cold and perhaps bitchy, I chuckle and say how wry and clever! Anna knows how to move forward and that is a difficult concept for many of us, especially Americans, who spend so much time in the past.

      That is what a powerful woman looks to you, original poster.(eventhough this was 7 years ago😉) Most people tgat reach the top aren't particularly cold or distant. What they all have in common is drive, discipline and talent. As person, I do not find Wintour and inspirational leader. According to her close colleagues: she is not a people person because she is simply 'inept' at being personable. She's a marketer and publicist, first. She leaves the 'humanity' part to her subordinates who are much better at being human. I find it endearing in a way. But not a good example of a good leader.

    She is not the most likable person at first but after watching some interviews with her and listening to her speech, I'm convinced her bitchy persona is just a disguise or a way to survive in the tough fashion world ... I think she is very intelligent and really,on who cares about how good of a public speaker she is when the message she delivered was clear and on point!

    • @georgiahaung4

      Miryana Stancheva true

    • @GullibleTarget
      @GullibleTarget Год назад

      She has no persona she puts on. Anna is not personable or social. The 'bitchy' persona is a media invention based on Lauren Weisbergers book and the Devil wears Prada movie. It's not real nor is it there; it's imagined. And you fell for it thinking you had it figured out.

    What a gracious and humble woman considering her position . We need more woman in charge like Anna, she is decisive yet very open minded to new things. Which is a rare trait. Most decision makers seem to be stuck in their way but she seems to convey how important it is to move with the times. Her advice to young people is on point. Do no let living through social meia become a substitute for life. In fact people should treat their cell phones like our bathroom time. Discreet and only when necessary. Obviously that loser on his cell phone when this fantastic woman gave a heartfelt speech should be expelled in my opinion. Or at least asked to leave the room.

    In my own opinion, by leaps and bounds this one is better than speeches that were well “engineered” like the one delivered by Mark Zukerburg at Harvard. Anna talked about quite a new view of life and world but delivered her idea in a very down to earth way. I was inspired by her ideas, not by how well she prepared the speech with some many eye contacts and hand gestures that was taught by some professional beforehand. Nowadays philanthropy is an unavoidable topic in commencement speech; while it was an amazing fact, it is hardly to not think the speaker mentioned that just because they know that’s what people want to hear.

    How does she stick all that hair in her face? She seems pretty nervous. She also obviously comes from a very rich backgound, so even though she left school at 16 she still had the connections to get into elite positions, Her father was political editor of a major newspaper. Her son had the privilege of having parents who could afford to send him to Oxford for 4 years and then pay for him to do 7+ years of medicine when he changed his mind. These people do not realise how hard it is for people who have to pay their own way, and make their own way. We don't have nepotism and a trust fund to rely on.

      Look... Not everything's about money. If you REALLY want to achieve your goals you need to study (public or private, it really doesn't matter anymore), work hard and start from the bottom, meet people, fail, and do that all over again until you finally make it to the top.

    • @ipodmute3824
      @ipodmute3824 9 лет назад +8

      Perla La. None of that is any good to you if you want to be a doctor and go to Oxford or Harvard - you need money. There is no point in pretending that having rich parents doesn't make your life a whole lot easier. You have that permanent safety net so that if things go wrong - like if you get sick - or if you hate your really expensive course at Oxford, or if you simply want to open your own business and need the $$ - you can be assured that mummy and daddy will be there. People making their own way in life do not have that luxury - they have to go up to their neck in debt (if they are even granted a loan) , be blessed by a scholarship (and lets face it - how many of those are given out v the people who need it) and by God do they have to make their degree work for them because there is no option b
      that's reality - so no, i din't have a lot of time for rich kids who don't recognize their privilege

      She's not much of a public speaker. I've seen her give speeches at other events, and for the most part she's always just reading from her paper aside from briefly looking up occasionally. Also, I think she's always had a complex abt being the only non-academically inclined member of her family (dropping out of high school, working in an industry that academics often dismiss as frivolous). So, she probably found it intimidating to be making a speech in front of a bunch of academics at Oxford of all places. At least when she's speaking to her peers in the fashion industry, she knows she commands their respect and has the experience to back-up what she says.

      Alberto Dote What qualifies you to conclude so? It can't be your ability to use the correct form of the verb "to have".

      Alberto Dote I think she reasoned her points quite effectively, in fact she wanted them to understand the choices she and her team are making for the magazine and condé nast while also inspiring them to not fossilise on one aspect of their education, providing examples from her own life and from the media young people now are in a very tight relationship with: she was asked to bring something for the students and I personally think that there's not a limit to how many times you can say to someone our age that what we may perceive as failures (such as having a goal, trying to reach it and then changing your mind, or focusing on many things at once for quite some time before discovering our "path") can actually turn out to be what really makes us stand out in the long run, and also being open and promote communication (which I personally reckon as a GREAT advice)

      oh you surely must be one of those 'over specialized' ..and expect her to be one too.
      unfortunately you are one of those who will never know the difference between 'the over specialized' and 'the intelligent'

      +IpodMute It was a kind of sheep I think. What kind of leather do you have on your shoes, wallet and bummer jacket? I am in Europe and women will walk in there fur coat as soon as it is cooler. No one makes any comment (except me because I was so surprise) I am very sad that America think that they are so good. If you eat meat you can't cry at what other people are wearing because an animal has been killed for you also.

    "Hello, I'm Anna, a superficial wannabe who is only interested in superficial stuff, I think fashion drives the world, I know nothing about Africa's sufferings, the poverty in the world and the sick children. My only concerns today were : How am I gonna look, is my haïr OK, what should I wear ? "

      So now poverty around the world is automatically her fault? Instead of worrying about her, invest in yourself.
