- Its been a year, a year with doubts about the rolex submariner 41 but also joyfull moments with it. I really want this sub to have the charm, simplesness, caracter, color that the vintage rolex subs have. But is another era is the year of the unworn , unaged watch. Lets see what are my thoughts about the rolex submariner 41.

Yes, it's beautiful, but the idea that aside from scratches here and there, it will basically look new forever. It just seems unnatural.
To each their own, but the modern Sub is very jewelery like and shiny. It's not necessarily good or bad, but it looks like a somewhat cartoonish version of the old Subs.
It also looks too perfect, and coupled with the notion, it stays mostly free of flaws I couldn't warm up to it, hence the sale.

Have you stopped wearing it as a daily?? I’ve always felt it was a little too flashy as well. I have the new version but wear my OP more as it’s more understated and not a piece of jewelry
Daily yes, i love wearing it but yeah it’s a little too flashy for daily. Thats why i got the exp2! I wear the heck out of that watch
Andy I love the channel…great to see your journey and passion for watches….I get your point that the latest sub has a sterility to it that seems like it lacks character…however even with its shiny bits…it’s character (imperfections) is now moved on to its size at 41 and it’s bracelet at 21. If I’m looking for a 1 and done luxury mechanical in the Rolex family….this or the explorer 1 are at the top of the list. The submariner has the amazing bezel sound and look. Even though 41 is alittle large it has wrist presence without being to obnoxious. If the explorer 1 had a glide lock it would be almost perfect as a non dive watch.

Good Video and appreciate your passion but disagree that it is perfect, afterall it is a tool watch. I feel the Omega AT or Datejust would be a better all around watch with character…. the Rolex Explorer also borders as a perfect watch as it can be dress up or down…. which is the critical aspect I would consider in a perfect watch…. everyday, every occasion with character and class….. tradition not so much

You know Andy, I got this watch a while ago and I thought it would be my grail. But I hardly wear it. Something about it feels like the watch is wearing me. I guess that's the Rolex baggage they talk about. Incidentally, I don't feel this way about my explorer.
This is exactly my point! Now that i have the exp 2 even though its 1 mm bigger it feels right idk why! And better than the sub on thewrist
