Thank you for showing me how to replace my old model A1425 MacBook Pro's battery! It took me about two hours and I did not have any problems starting it back up.
Thanks for taking the time to make this, very helpful. I am a pro and come to RUclips all the time just to be sure. You can gently pry the packs off without the need for alcohol or dental floss. I use a flat wide steel tool very common for phone repairs. Very important not to pierce the battery, so don't use any pointed or sharp things.
Thank you for the detailed video, It helps a lot. I recommend everyone who needs to replace their battery watch this first and watch it when you are doing so!
I did it. I replaced the battery. It was pretty easy to do thanks to your video. I used WD 40 to release the adhesive on the original battery pak with a slow & steady pressure lifting on the battery. WD40 doesn't evaporate like the alcohol does but you should cover the circuit board area with a paper towel to keep the WD over-spray off of it. You can clean the WD up with paper towel and lighter fluid. In fact you could use just the lighter fluid to release the adhesive too. Your call. I took a few pictures during the disassembly to aid in reassembly but it really isn't all that hard and my Macbook is running like new. Thanks again
Thanks for your well recorded and informative video. I have the same computer and the battery has become very weak. It dies at about 30%. So replacing my Macbook's battery is high on my list of things to do. I too see no need to replace an otherwise terrific computer just cuz the battery is old and tired. Thanks again.
I want to try this but I am concerned about the final part of charging and discharging. I see many conflicting ideas on this. some you need to do it and some say its not good to do it. Also, exactly how do you do it. Thanks
Great video ! Two additional advices after replacing my own battery on this A1425 model : 1. Using dental floss might not always work as it is likely to snap. In my experience, it was easier forcing an old credit card underneath the battery's blocks to loosen them. 2. Be very careful using only a minute quantity of solvant. Using more than a few drops means risking to dip your motherboard ! Fortunately, even if you do, it evaporates pretty fast.
Hi. I replace my battery but unfortunately my Mac in not recognizing the new one. When i go in to the about this mac, system report its seams the battery is not installed.. The mac works fine. Any ideas?
When you attach the plug to the board there's a locator pin that needs to be in position. I found myself trying to screw the button headed screw in, but it wouldn't bite the thread and it was because the locator pin wasn't sitting right. He does mention it, but only very briefly. If you are still having this problem, maybe that is why?

Plastic push-bike tyre (tire) levers are great for prising the batteries out instead of dental floss.
