I don't think we've realized how much of a miracle it was to see ABBA return for one more album after 40 years. In this period, any of them could have died or lost their music abilities, but not only they were still alive and well, they were still pretty solid in their talents and they gave us ten more amazing songs that fit perfectly into their long list of genial works.
Abba hasnt returned only on CD. The show is a modern lightshow. Don't belive everything Abba marketing is telling you and I have been a fan for 50 years but for a lightshow I don't spend a penny
I recently started cataloguing my record collection, I have three abba albums and I can only imagine the magic of placing a needle on the record and listening to those lyrics along the world for the first time. The songs are so happy sounding, cheerful and pure magic and beauty, but the lyrics make me question my existence in the world and the reality of my emotions. They’re magical.
Their songs, lyrically, are simple. They wrote what they knew, themselves. Writing the personal transformed to universal the decade after they disbanded. Their music outlived their competitors of the day. They didn't leave anything to chance.
No matter what those critics (and some awful manipulators such as R. Christgau) had said at the time.Future proved F-ABBA are survivors and there's still no body to touch them in their field.Absolutetly nobody! Now they are evergreen, up in their thrones and deep in my heart forever.
Benny said 90 percent of ABBAs success is because of the two ladies voices and how they harmonize. There’s something magical about it. It’s a synthesis of their vocals blending together creating a third element. Benny and Bjorn realized they had lightning in a bottle when they decided to concentrate on writing the songs and have Agnatha and Frida sing the songs. That was very wise! And nobody else sounds like them. It’s instant recognition when you hear them. They have a unique and original sound.
eu concordo com o que Benny falou. Sem as vozes das duas garotas o ABBA não existiria. Elas são maravilhosas até hoje. Os dois bobos não poderiam ter traído essas lindas, simpaticas, inteligentes e talentosas mulheres.

Ah Paul - I think it's hard to describe to people just how big they were here in Australia, unless you were actually here. I was about 6 years old when they hit it big here - living in a small town in country Victoria on the banks of the Murray River, and they stole the hearts of everyone. They are the first music that I vividly recall, and I think they influenced the type of music that I have listened to ever since. Not once did my brother and sister and I ever have to ask to get one of their albums when they came out - because if my parents hadn't already bought it for us, then my grand parents had. They had such universal appeal - and Australia just took them into our hearts. Fun fact: they actually sold more albums in Australia, than they did collectively in the rest of the world. It's the best music out there. No auto tune like most of the bands/singers nowadays. Abba is the greatest band with music and vocals you can't replicate.
Z B Funny you would mention other singers use of auto tune. Of all young singer's their reactors claim non of them use auto tune. It leads me to believe they're all excellent or some are not very truthful. Is there a way to know the diff?
I have always loved ABBA! My brother and sister used to make fun of me because I loved Abba so much and they thought it wasn’t cool but I did not care! I still do not care, I’m 60 years old and I still love Abba! I just wish so badly that I could see them or meet them !! To meet them and see them sing , would be a dream come true!!But I am in Massachusetts USA so I couldn’t even see them in concert in London in there special concert in 2020 or 22.❤❤❤
ABBA's music is real. It reflects the human condition. They make us laugh, dance with joy and cry. It's both happy and nostalgic and invites us to sing along. Abracadabra - the ABBA 4 were pure magic together. May their music last forever.
Thank you so much for this nice video. I think that the success of ABBA is: 1. The personalities of all of the ABBA members; Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Björn and Benny are all very authentically humble, nice, honest, down to earth and decent people. Swedish qualities. 2. Benny`s ability to compose catchy, wonderful and epic music, inspired in part from the Swedish folk music (I honestly believe that he is our time`s Mozart), Björn`s ability to create very deep and wise texts, that we all can relate to. Together the to Bs create this Happy-pain that ABBA is famous for. In my opinion, this mixture is what life is all about: the dance between those good times and those throbbing times. 3. Agnetha and Anni-Frid`s ability to harmonise their beautiful and powerful voices together. Ps. Look at the lyrics on the titles “He is your brother”, “I am a marionette” and “The Piper”. Contemplate on the message… Ds. Best regards from Lena in Norway
I can totally understand that ABBA really want to call it quits now after having release another album after 50 years. But I cannot help but feel a little sad when I see what an amazing talent would be wasted if this really was the end of the group. Until last year we didn’t know whether ABBA could still deliver after all these years. Now we know, they can. The ladies still have amazing voices, the song writing is still great. I really hope there will be another song or two to be released in the next years. A song for charity would be a nice thing to do. Until then I wish all four of them as much health and happiness as there is ins the world. So many great artists have died already, Prince, Michael Jackson, Olivia Newton-John, George Michael. I cannot bear to think that one day, ABBA won’t be here anymore.
My mama brought back an ABBA album from Germany in the early 70s. I loved it! When albums were available for purchase in the USA, those were purchased too! Schlager, Pop-Rock, Disco, etc. Whatever you want to call their music, I loved it then, and I love it today!
I loved ABBA from the first time I saw them on Australian TV in 1975. Mamma Mia... had me buying my first album at 12 years old. ABBA is the most significant band in my life. I saw them and waved to them on their arrival at the Melbourne Town Hall in 1977. My parents did not buy my a ticket to their concert, so I went anyway and climbed the fence to catch a glimps. I almost had an out-of-body experience! Knowing they had travelled all the way from Sweden, to make dreams come true. I have loved their music, con erts and movies. Last year I travelled to London to see Voyage. I was like a child again and lined up 2 hours before the show. I made sure I was at the front and centre of the stage. When the concert started I was spell-bound as I knew I would be. I could not differentiate the line between fantasy and reality. I smiled, laughed and cried with joy. I am returning to London this September and have booked 4 shows. ABBA has been and continues to be my joy. My life is enriched because of them. Sending love from Melbourne Australia. If any member of ABBA reads my text, know this... I am so grateful to be here on Earth in your time. XXXX
The secret ingredient of the success is Agnetha and frida voices and charisma No matter was the Talent of Benny and Björn They would never succeded without that two exceptional singers
Most of the clubs I've been to always play Gimme Gimme Gimme! And me and many others scream the lyrics to it and jump up and down! That shows how many generations this incredible band has touched!
I think the slight "uncoolness factor" is a part of why they are so popular. You can sing Dancing Queen anywhere at whatever venue because it's slightly uncool but a begrudgingly catchy song. The ability to keep singing and dancing to their songs keeps them alive in people's memories. It's a bit like "Our House" with Madness.
@@DWHistoryandCulture I'd have to disagree with this; Abba never were "uncool". They were adopted by a younger crowd, and as "camp" icons, but the fact that a band like Bjorn Again have literally now existed way longer than the real Abba ever did and have never dipped in popularity, shows that the popularity and desire of the public for the real thing never waned. The real Abba just left at the right time, the hunger to be Abba was really gone by that point. As for Our House, I'm sorry but there's *never* been a time in history that Madness were uncool, or that Our House was "begrudgingly catchy". I guess it depends what part of the world you're from, but I've liked their music since I was a kid and there's never ever been a point in time that they became a novelty act in the eyes of the public. They've continued releasing great music since their reformation for the first Madstock. And if you don't listen to the string arrangement under the last verse of Our House and hear an absolutely stunning piece of music, I despair for you.😂
ABBA is the combination of outstanding music and phenomenal voices of Agneta and Frida who made songs for the most impossible to perform for vast majority of today's singers.
I must have heard them before, but they didn’t really grab me. I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard Super Trooper. I was on the freeway in heading home to San Mateo. I couldn’t believe what I had just heard. I absolutely loved it. I didn’t know who the band was at the time. I had to find out, though. Since then I have purchased many of their albums in all formats. I’ve listened to Super Trouper 100s of times and many other songs too. The woman’s voices are so pretty, their harmonies so perfect. The latest album I have is The Visitor. There are many beautiful song on that one too. Now I’m going to get the newest one, Voyage. Live long and prosper, ABBA.
I fell in love with ABBA 2 years ago, and I'm a young person lol. It makes me happy that the prospects for ABBA's legacy remain bright well into the 21st century.

That certainly was a very nice watch, I feel soooo fortunate to have grown up in the '70's when the music was sooooo fricking GOOD and ABBA such a BIG part of the scene here in Canada, they certainly had gotten immense radio play! I recall one time as I pushed the buttons on the radio in the truck I was sitting, 4 out of 5 stations were playing ABBA !! 😍🤗
Four beautiful, talented and creative stars, yet humble , nice and caring that never needed, drugs, scandals, nor crazy behavior to be famous, they were really extraordinary performers not only in recordings, but live too. whose songs were full of very caring and warm messages, both in joy as in sorrow. NO other group has ever had all these outstanding features. Lovely people above all
I’ve of course been an ABBA fan all along, but I was amazed how my grandkids (6 and 4) in Chicago caught on to their music when I introduced them to it a couple of years ago.The older one’s favorite is Super Trouper while the younger one’s is Money Money Money! Now it is a regular part of our routine to listen to ABBA every week when we meet!
My mum used to play ABBA, and so did my Extended family, to great enjoyment during family reunions in Kenya when I was likkle. In my teens I rediscovered them thanks to Pandora and Spotify 😀
Along with the many accolades already mentioned in these comments, I would add that it is incredibly impressive that they accomplished such vivid, diverse-themed song writing and vocal arrangements across a spectrum of feelings in what was not their first language. And English isn't the easiest of the languages to learn and master for most people, as I learned in international travel settings and partly as a language arts/other-languages teacher for a portion of my professional life.
My household is usually silent as a grave because any conversation with my elderly mom ends up in an argument. But once in while my dead household erupts into a rave of singing, clapping and just all around joy. It always starts innocently with a tune , an Abba song playing on the radio. Suddenly the radio is turned full blast. After which comes a loud demand to take out the CDs, DVDs and crank up the myriad of players needed to play all the Abba ditties my mom absolutely adore. It's embarrassing the loud noisy singing that can be heard from our house. But most of the time the neighbors just shrug it off because it's Abba.
Yeah, I think of my youth whenever I hear the songs. and I repeat listening to them once in a while. it makes me happy and nostalgic. it surprises me that young people like ABBA as I do.
It is so accurate, "ABBA is about memories". I still cry listening and singing to Super Trouper because it brings me back to my childhood driving with my parents with that song (and other ABBA songs) being played.
I just love watching ABBA members enjoy what they were doing. Each of them did their part unique in a mastery way. I can tell they were happy doing what they did. They have made us happy too. I'm grateful. 😊❤
I’ve spent my first 21 years living in my home country Haiti, and ABBA is by far the most played international band in the radio while ironically nobody knows their name, but their music is Timeless

I loved ABBA! Still do!!! I was a teen through those very BEST years, and their songs were a part of me. ❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
I have always loved ABBA! My brother and sister used to make fun of me because I loved Abba so much and they thought it wasn’t cool but I did not care! I still do not care, I’m 60 years old and I still love Abba! I just wish so badly that I could see them or meet them !! To meet them and see them sing , would be a dream come true!!But I am in Massachusetts USA so I couldn’t even see them in concert in London in there special concert in 2020 or 22.❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. We hope that one day you'll be able to see them!
Releasing the 2 unfinished songs as a single will be great.
And “Just Like That”.
ABBA's music is real. It reflects the human condition. They make us laugh, dance with joy and cry. It's both happy and nostalgic and invites us to sing along. Abracadabra - the ABBA 4 were pure magic together. May their music last forever.
LatinAmerican loves ABBA
yeah!
One word to describe ABBA.. geniuses..
Thank you so much for this nice video.
I think that the success of ABBA is:
ABBA is pure talent and pure joy 🥰🥰
I still can't believe almost a year later that I got to see ABBA get back together.
My mama brought back an ABBA album from Germany in the early 70s. I loved it! When albums were available for purchase in the USA, those were purchased too! Schlager, Pop-Rock, Disco, etc. Whatever you want to call their music, I loved it then, and I love it today!
I would Love to see and hear more new songs 💕 ABBA
ABBA's uniquely great music is timeless!
XXXX
same here in mid-America....I unfortunately missed them on tour here in '79 BUT gratefully made it to London for Voyage, 3 shows !
You have no idea how much I love ABBA they are my favorite band
Thank you ABBA you always make me happy
The secret ingredient of the success is Agnetha and frida voices and charisma
No matter was the Talent of Benny and Björn
They would never succeded without that two exceptional singers
ABBA was from the beginning my favorite group. Timeless music, two beautiful women, I’m proud to live in Sweden. ❤️🇸🇪
Most of the clubs I've been to always play Gimme Gimme Gimme! And me and many others scream the lyrics to it and jump up and down! That shows how many generations this incredible band has touched!
Wow ! Thanks por this documental! I am 59 and Abba was there for me always !
Because they are the best, the absolute BEST❤️❤️❤️
I think the slight "uncoolness factor" is a part of why they are so popular.
You can sing Dancing Queen anywhere at whatever venue because it's slightly uncool but a begrudgingly catchy song. The ability to keep singing and dancing to their songs keeps them alive in people's memories.
It's a bit like "Our House" with Madness.
Good point!!
And if you don't listen to the string arrangement under the last verse of Our House and hear an absolutely stunning piece of music, I despair for you.😂
Thery're not "Uncool," they're literally the COOLEST in the world
I was then a kid when they started out and haven't been to any of their concerts. But I will always and ever be an ABBA fan.😍
Jag älskar ABBA så mycket.
ABBA is the combination of outstanding music and phenomenal voices of Agneta and Frida who made songs for the most impossible to perform for vast majority of today's singers.
I adore ABBA.
There music is timeless, emotional, great music , not sad.
Super Trouper is indeed a wonderful song!
I fell in love with ABBA 2 years ago, and I'm a young person lol. It makes me happy that the prospects for ABBA's legacy remain bright well into the 21st century.
I would like to see ABBA write and record the entire soundtrack of a really cool animated movie
They are the greatest group ever!
“Never Say Never” (Frida Radio 2 November 2021). Who knows, maybe four songs, for the next and 10th studio album are already in the can! 🎉

One of my favorite bands. A band ahead of their time. Love you Agnetha ❤.
I still keep my Abba records.
I'm from El Salvador and I really love ABBA. I think their is happy and sad at the same time.
Lovely people above all
I join the hundreds of millions when I say, I love ABBA! I roller skated to their music in the '70's and have loved them since.
From Eurovision to TikTok, ABBA is still well-loved
I grew up with ABBA’s songs - LOVE THEM!!!!! Decent people and beautiful tunes!
Love this! Thank you!
Such a nice routine, thanks for sharing!! 🎵
We all LOVE ABBA!
A good band with catchy tunes. Thanks.
My mum used to play ABBA, and so did my Extended family, to great enjoyment during family reunions in Kenya when I was likkle. In my teens I rediscovered them thanks to Pandora and Spotify 😀
”This isn’t where It ends” 🎶 ”This isn’t where It ends” 🎶 🙌 💛💙💛💙
As Jurgen Elofsson said "It makes me cry every time"
ABBA... Thank you for the music!
ABBA is the greatest band that ever existed, so many bands mention them as influence and in so many different genres.
ABBA always in moderately mood... and moderately appearances... just feel good out of it.
ABBA is magical!! I love them. Really. Their songs are my remedy. Much love from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤
But there are also great singers in 🇵🇭, too, right?
I dont care what others people said. For me they are genius!!!!! Best voices ever!!!!!
We need another album, please!
Yeah, I think of my youth whenever I hear the songs. and I repeat listening to them once in a while. it makes me happy and nostalgic. it surprises me that young people like ABBA as I do.
We always loved ABBA in Australia I think as country we loved them the most.
Thank you for the music !!!
I’ve spent my first 21 years living in my home country Haiti, and ABBA is by far the most played international band in the radio while ironically nobody knows their name, but their music is Timeless
