    I really enjoyed the history with Don Heinrich Tollzman and the fantastic views of the Roebling Bridge, especially with the drone. Also, I liked how the interview took place with vehicles crossing the "Singing Bridge" the Roebling Suspension Bridge.

    Beautiful historical bridge and a legendary designer. It's amazing that it still handles car traffic to this day, the Wheeling Bridge may be older but it has been closed to motorized traffic since 2019 due to drivers disregarding the bridge's restrictions.

    Great job, nice video compiled, love that bridge and it's history! Since it wasn't dedicated until 1867, and people crossed it first in Dec 1866, why does it have the year 1865 on the bridge? Was that when the tower was completed?

    Perhaps we need Roebling to fix the I 64 bridge between Indiana and KY! It is much newer!

    This bridge was called the Tact Bridge and owned by the Tact Family at one time. It also was a toll bridge at one time also it's cost was 10 cents to cross if I remember what my father told me years ago that was in the 20's and 30's. They failed to mention that.

    It’s very similar to a bridge in Bristol England.

    dude, the original road bead was of oak ties..and it wasnt light weight electric cars but city buses that made them replace the oak ties.

    I always thought the Wheeling bridge was older, but what do I know. Both the Wheeling and the Roebling bridges were completely rebuilt so that the bridge in use today only uses parts of the original. I guess in Cincinnati 1865 came before 1849!

    The Roebling Bridge Covington Ky. Cincinnati, Ohio really didn't want the bridge that is why no local bridge coming from NKy leads directly into a Cincinnati, Ohio Streat.

    Does HISTORY IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD have any film or video of the Grand opening of Swifton Shopping Center and businesses within up to the 70s? And the Reading Road Corridor from the same time period? If not, can you please do one? Also, the Dunbar area of Madisonville that was cut out to make way for the Red Bank Expressway?

    How was construction of the bridge able to take place during the civil war years given that Ohio and Kentucky were at war with each other?

    Is this a pedestrian-only bridge today?

    • @MrEffinBest
      @MrEffinBest 7 месяцев назад +1

      Nope. Still carries traffic to this day. I think they banned trucks a while back, but up until recently this thing carried insane amounts of traffic every day. Its and incredibly well-built bridge.

      Yes, very insane amounts of traffic. Bumper to bumper with heavy trucks as I remember it. I cross it about every five years. Never comfortable.😬
