Are you using regular removable vinyl to press on as the stencil or are you using the cricut brand stencil material? Curious which I need to buy to make my doormat. I'm still so new to this machine that I have only used the permanent vinyl for a couple of projects so far and can't wait to branch out by trying some of your tutorials. Thanks for your help!
I actually only use permanent vinyl for my doormats. I usually use the hobby lobby brand permanently vinyl but I have used cricut permanent vinyl. I only use permanent because it’s usually the same price as removable I almost never buy removable vinyl.
It held well they last longer if under a covered porch. You don’t have to seal spray paint if you are doing an entire acrylic mat you may seal it but honestly I have been making mats for a few years now and sealing the acrylic doesn’t make any difference when it comes to the longevity of the mat. They are doormats no mats last forever if they aren’t put in direct sunlight or rain they will last also sealing will sometimes alter the color of the mat and it will look wet
@@Melaninbeauty88 the steeler door mat you will need black flex seal for the black areas so the black can be very bold. Always spray paint your black areas first. I got the Steelers logo that’s in the middle of the mat offline Etsy it was a svg file. To make the yellow bright on your mat you must first spray paint it white then go back on top with yellow once the white dries. Also the word “PITTSBURGH” at the top is HAND PAINTED and so is the “Steelers logo” in the middle. I always hand paint letters and words. I use simple acrylic paint I love the paint brand called “FOLK-ART” it’s in hobby lobby and Walmart. But any paint that’s acrylic should work like the brand in this video. To hand paint you need a really hard bristle paint brush. I got one out of dollar tree. I used Permanent vinyl for my stencil like in the video. I hope this helps ❤️. I’m actually posting a video today on another door mat be sure to check it out.
@@sharenalatrese_thecraftgoat one last thing. How did you get those likes that’s in the middle of the doormat? Where Steelers are between them. Was that part of the stencil?
Lol I will I promise. I’m 8 months pregnant right now so I’m kind of in slow motion but I promise I will do a video on the cowboys doormat now I see more people are interested
I’ve tried acrylic paint and it gets super hard and cracks if I try and roll it(to mail). Does that mean I am using too much paint? Do you think spray paint is better and won’t harden the painted parts much. I am just starting and getting discouraged because it’s cracking.
A good acrylic paint I use is by FOLK ART they are sold in hobby lobby. I don’t have the cracking issue. I roll the mats just fine. Try a different brand paint I would say
Hey YES! those colors are gonna look great. How I would do that is I would cover the entire mat with red, black, and green. So if you do the layout like in the video once your paint dries pull off the tape and then go back and lay tape on what you painted and then paint the areas that don’t have paint if this makes since? So I would go back and forth with the green and red and once it dries pull my tape up. Then lay tape to cover my green and red lines and paint all the (blank) lines with the black spray paint. I want to give you a heads up since this video the price of the mats at WALMART went up to 11 dollars. I have no clue why but it’s upsetting the prices on everything has changed.
@@Melaninbeauty88 type in Steelers svg and it’s in black and white for 85 cents company name is SFWDigitalArtworks it’s a bestseller. Once you get it remove the circle around it. I also separated the word Steelers from the 3 diamonds because I didn’t like the font but you don’t have to
Although its taped down I press it to make sure the vinyl is adhered to the mad so that the letters or image comes out perfect. This is just my way in doing it. There are other ways no way is wrong if the mat comes out perfect.
Hey flex seal only comes in two colors so far from what I’ve seen black and white. Spray paint is pretty much permanent on anything it can be rained on and not wash away also you can always spray clear flex seal on top of you acrylic paint just to seal it. They also have a mod podge spray you can use to seal your acrylic with as well. But it is a door mad and it will get stepped on repeatedly so they don’t last forever but the one I made for myself a year ago I still in good condition.

love it! what type of paper did you use to print the letter?
Permanent vinyl
Do you use a sealant after it’s done?
No not all the time it just depends because spray paint does not run also sealant on top will alter your image.
I’m super late to the video but how did it hold up using acrylic and not sealing?
