MK7 Rainbow Road Is One Of The GOATS, but I just wish it was categorized as more of a space track (if you know what i mean). It doesn't fit as a Rainbow Road, but more of a space expedition which is really cool. Great Video as Always 🔥
nah its extremely overrated, nothing special in there and people only like it for nostalgia or the moon, which isnt THAT special. and the original OST is boring, mk8 did it justice.
@@Da_Sire It's a fun journey although the highlight is the 2nd section when you drive on Saturn's rings and the craters of the moon. The music is great and while I will admit nostalgia is a factor, it is still one of the best tracks in the series and the best Rainbow Road.
yeah i feel like people always want to give n64 rainbow road way more praise than it deserves! it's kind of just a super long road with a rainbow texture and guardrails (plus a really cool song, to be fair) but a lot of people point to it as the definitive rainbow road.
SNES Rainbow Road will always sit at the top of my personal ranking. I think the fun gameplay, amazing music, and nostalgic feel just make it the best out of any Rainbow Road.
FINALLY someone actually comments on how disappointing MK8's Rainbow Road is. The visuals and especially the music just don't feel anywhere near as iconic as the older ones, and MK7's Rainbow Road proved that you don't need to be old to be iconic.
its so cool how each rainbow road is kind of unique in tiny details and large details SMK: Dangerous and difficult as it has zero guard rails. MKS6: The longest out of the rainbow roads and hogged all the guard rails. MKSC: Instead of guard rails we have bouncy edges that make for cool shortcuts. MKDD: *Giant Cannon.* And a cool windy decent type track with stars raining down. MKDS: The only mario kart track out of every single one to have a true loop-d-loop. MKW: *Giant Star Cannon.* And the cool half pipe section with the overlapping parts makes it so much fun to race against friends on. Also cool fall animation :]. MK7: The sectioned track with that giant star at the end of the track make it seem like a great finale to MK7’s nitro grand prix’s and the extensive flying section at the end give it such a grand final push. MK8: The space station theme gives it such a cool feel especially when you jump from road to road after the quick launching section. I may have explained some of these better than the others but they are all amazing tracks in their own ways and honestly always my favorite tracks in Mario Kart.
8. GBA - Close call between this and the SNES one, but ultimately this one is just less memorable and also has by far the weakest music of any RR, it just doesn't fit in much (mind you super circuit's rendition of snes rainbow road's music proved that an actual fitting rainbow road theme would be much worse for the GBA soundfont) 7. SNES - Can get super frustrating at times but is still a very iconic track and the music is classic 6. WiiU/NS - A very good track, but this is up there with GCN Yoshi Circuit (DS) as one of the most disappointing Mario Kart tracks of all time, since it's very unimpressive compared to previous ones, especially when this one had the most potential 5. DS - This one is super nostalgic for me, and the music really hits me all these years later, but objectively, it just delivers the bare essentials of a rainbow road 4. GCN - Even though I might prefer DS personally, I'll give this one credit for doing these ideas first, and being better detailed. I just wish it flowed together a bit better. Also I lowkey prefer the DS's RR theme 3. N64 - I know, I know, it goes on for 6 minutes, which is not always fun. But it deserves credit for being the only mario kart track to do this, while also having the best music out of any mario kart track. Plus, there's plenty of difficulty, as due to MK64's rubber banding physics, it's very hard to catch up if you fall behind 2. Wii - Big jump up here, as these are literally my two favourite tracks of all time. The difficulty is perfect, the layout is dynamic, the music is the 2nd best out of any mario kart track, somehow managing to be majestic and danceable at the same time 1. 3DS - As average as I find MK7 to be, this is the perfect Mario Kart track, has the most creativity out of any track and is also the most fun. And it's pretty telling how good this and the wii's RRs are, when they're remade before any other RR from GBA onwards in Mario Kart Tour, and this one's already made it into the booster course pass, and the wii version will almost certainly be in it too
@@Da_Sire Saying 3DS is the worst RR is very bold. That said, I'd probably rank GBA above SNES and WiiU now (although it still has by far the worst music)
The next MK game shouldn't bother with a Rainbow Road as the 3DS one will NEVER be topped no matter what they do. They should create a brand new non-rainbow road adventure as the final course.
Wii rainbow road is the best track in the frenchise for me. It has everything, the track is stunning, the music is the best music in mario kart history except for mkwii credits 1 but it's not a track and the gameplay is so chaotic, difficult and fun, it really tests your skills
My personal rating: 8. N64 Rainbow Road One of if not the most boring track in Mario kart history. Mk8 made this track honestly one of the best rainbow roads we have had to date. The train, the fireworks, the fact it is one lap only, there is a lot of good on the remake. The original is abysmal. Difficult to fall, boring layout and it’s 6 minutes long. The music is absolutely fantastic though. 1/10 7. SNES Rainbow Road Slightly better than mk64s because it doesn’t go on for ages, and the layout is just slightly better. The worst part is that it’s difficult to stay on the track. The cpus are right next to you and the track is just small. Also out of the 7 I had left on the list, this one is the worst, by a mile. The music though, is catchy af. You can’t help but tap your feet to the music. 2/10 6. GBA Rainbow Road I really like the amount of jumping this track has. For a final track in super circuit, the track has great difficulty. And yet again, the jumping is so much fun to do. Same with the boost panels. But that’s all the track really has. There’s not much mind blowing elements the track has. The music is good though. Even if it isn’t memorable, it’s still a bouncy tune. 6/10 5. Wii U Rainbow Road At first, I wasn’t that keen on the new rainbow road we got. But after playing it a lot on 200cc now, it’s a lot of fun. It’s fun to do shortcuts and I like the space station area. It’s a cool element to add on a rainbow road. Even though it doesn’t add a lot of rainbow. The music does suit rainbow road a lot to. I like the rocky vibe of it. 7/10 4. GCN Rainbow Road I like at the beginning of the track, there is a jump to start. It’s really cool to also see mushroom city in the background. The spiral before the cannon is really nice to drive on, The cannon is fun and the road just looks stunning. The music never gets old. It fits so much for a rainbow road. 8.5/10 3. Wii Rainbow Road Do I even need to explain how good this track is? 9.5/10 2. 3DS Rainbow Road Such a good track. Travelling on the moon is something I wouldn’t expect from a Mario kart track. The road looks absolutely beautiful. All 3 laps are really fun to drive on. Honestly, not much bad about the track. Especially the mk8 version. Road looks even better than what we got! Also the shortcut is kinda insane lol. The music also is one of the best soundtracks we’ve had. Goosebumps are everywhere. 10/10 1. DS Rainbow Road The most underrated rr track in Mario kart history. The spiral at the beginning just like double dash’s rainbow road. Just the right difficulty as well. But the reason this track is absolutely godly is because of how unique it really is. It is the first ever track to include a loop and a corkscrew. Even for a handheld game, including that is insane. The road is also just a chefs kiss again. This also is the most nostalgic track for me cause I grew up with this game. Same with the music, gives me goosebumps all the time. Really beautiful and catchy. Not as good at 7’s music obviously lol. 12/10
I 100% agree with this list. I love to see GBA Rainbow Road getting some well deserved recognition, I think it’s the most underrated track in the entire series.
Strong disagree with your opinion on SNES Rainbow Road. It's, to date, the only track in the entire series with no guard rails at any point in the track. Exciting and thrilling, iconic for a reason. Overall, my opinion is: N64 - Long, easy, boring. The only RR I'd say outright sucks. Complete garbage other than the music. GBA - While I do enjoy the challenge of this track, the music is easily the worst RR music of the series and that drags it down a lot IMO. SNES - Yeah, admittedly it's still one of the lesser RRs of the series. But that's because most of these are absolute bangers. SNES RR still slaps. DS - Really solid. Nice middle-of-the-road iteration of the track, as you said. 8 - I like the space station theme and the music on this track. I also really enjoy the twisted knot section at the end, where you can leap between paths multiple times. GCN - I love the challenge of this track, the music, the way Stars sometimes fall on the track and can be picked up. The only thing really holding it to 3rd IMO is the kinda squirrelly physics of DD!!. Wii - The most difficult track of the entire series. Great music and theming. Lots of fun. 3DS - Yeah, it's the best. It may not be the hardest RR, but as you said, the presentation is just soooooo good.
I completely agree that the GBA Rainbow Road and Super Circuit in general is very underrated. I do actually enjoy the GBA Rainbow Road music as well though. My ranking: 8. SNES 7. Wii U 6. GBA 5. DS 4. N64 3. GCN 2. Wii 1. 3DS

On top of that, it’s super long, and it doesn’t look nearly as good as some other rainbow roads, and I can’t believe people were upset at it being 1 lap long. 7-SNES-Despite being a relatively simple rainbow road with not much going on, there’s still plenty of fun to be had here. However, I can’t in good conscience rank it higher than this, due to there being much more ambitious ones. 6-Wii U-The layout’s great, the music’s great, so what’s wrong with it? The theme. Yeah, the space station man-made road theme isn’t the best. However, you do still have to give them credit for trying to be innovative, even if it didn’t turn out well. Something else I don’t like that no one talks about is that they did very little with anti-gravity compared to what they could have done. 5-GBA-To quote Schaffrillas Productions, “Rainbow Road? More like PAINBOW ROAD cause yeah, this one’s pretty painful.” To be fair, Super Circuit is 5 cups long, so its difficulty is warranted. Also, I like the jump pads on the sides. Also, no one really talks about the music, but I actually really like it. 4-DS-Despite my nostalgia for DS due to it being my first video game, I find its rainbow road to be a bit forgettable. However, I think it’s also very underrated. It did the best it could with the limitations for the handheld. Also, of course, there’s the epic loopdeloop and corkscrew. 3-Wii-Not gonna lie, for a while, this was my favorite rainbow road. It offers a great challenge, but doesn’t feel flat out unfair. Also, it looks absolutely beautiful, and has great music. Man this course has it all! After all, there’s a reason this feels like the definitive rainbow road. Why isn’t this number 1 again? Oh yeah, the top 2 are even better. 2-3DS-While this may be on the easier side of rainbow roads, it’s still fun. To quote Nathaniel Bandy, “This isn’t just a track, it’s an adventure.” This is easily one of the best looking of the bunch, especially in the 8 Deluxe remake. On top of that , the music’s great. I don’t need to sell you on Mario Kart 7’s rainbow road, you already know why it’s so good. 1-GCN-GCN Rainbow Road is SO F//KING GOATED, it’s not even funny. The visuals? Amazing. Sadly, this probably won’t get much attention.
