I remember when I was little and my mom hid the laptop from me. After hours of searching I gave up and just laid on the ground. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a yellow blink. It was the reflection of the idle light on the hardwood floor. It was under a cabinet.
Suck it mom.
My dad would password protect the computer via the BIOS, when I'd get permission to use the computer I'd secretly flash the BIOS and reset it to remove the password.
When I was banned for using PCs for the umpteenth time, my parents went to the trouble of removing my desktop's power cord. Once the punishment period was up, they told me they hid it under their bedroom couch.
They have a couch in the bedroom?
I find these stories hilarious and interesting, especially since I was the child who was like "okay mom" and found a book or something to read instead of digging around to secretly get into my game device or computer again. I even knew precisely where it was because my mom would outright tell me where it would be staying until I wasn't grounded anymore. And there it stayed.
Used to, they got rid of it recently. Probably because it barely got used.
I like that she hired alligators, a group of athletes, and a fucking elephant to hide your game.
Man, she was determined.

What if the athletes are all the kid’s brothers? And the elephant and alligators are all their pets? Makes sense as to why everyone’s so chill about it, sort of.

It's so strangely mesmerizing. It kinda reminds me of the first WarioWare game. It's like, "Figure out this strange thing! If you get it right, odd things will happen! If you get it wrong, odd things will happen!"

Day five is a reference to Aesop’s fables, specifically, The Honest Axe. Basically, a woodsman drops his axe in the river and Mercury dives in to retrieve it. He comes to the surface with both the lost axe and one made of solid gold, and asks the woodsman which one belonged to him. He picks the one he lost, because he couldn’t very well continue his livelihood with a tool made of gold. For his honesty, he was blessed with good fortune from then on.
Ruth Nield I saw it as a reference to Zelda, breaking pots to find valuables, then throwing said valuables into the fairy fountain to be rewarded by the great fairy.
A similar thing happens in wario ware too (the one on the ds, I can't remember the name)

I think that Mom never actually intended to keep the game from him. That's why there's always some creative way to get to it, and despite her watching you get it again, she never stops you. She's actually a pretty good parent. You have to be active, solve problems, and get away from your screen with the reward of getting your game again and having the satisfaction of "thwarting" her. She watches to make sure you don't get hurt, but you ruin the illusion if you encounter her, so that's why the game intends. Though the alligator and cyclists are an interesting choice.

This game is almost too relatable. My parents would always hide my Gameboy, and I would sometimes find it, so eventually they locked it in a box. It was less easy to find the key. But those nights when I would clandestinely get my hands on my Gameboy and play Pokémon all night long were AMAZING.

If I remember correctly, it's cuz Danny's art already has facial hair, and they wanted to go for a bit of stylistic contrast between the two heads.

even thought im two years late i just want to clarify something
at 4:17 the lady in the lake is a reference to an old story (not indiana jones)
the story follows a woodsman that one day lost his axe in the lake, then a majestic lady appears with a golden and crystal axe in her hands and asks which one is his, the woodsman answers honestly and in return the lady lets him keep both axe's.
a few days later a rival woodsman hearing the story throws his axe on to the lake and when the lady asks if it was either the crystal or gold one he answers it was both, the lady then calls him a liar and doesnt give him back any of the axes. (if i remember correctly there's a version where the lady actually drowns the man)
its basically just a tale to teach kids to not lie and good things will happen.

I think the 5th level was in reference to a japanese folktale where a man accidentally drops his shovel into a lake, and then a goddess rises out of the water holding a regular shovel and a gold shovel and asks “did you drop this iron shovel, or this golden one?” And then the guy is honest and says he dropped the iron one. He then gets rewarded both shovels for his honesty.
