I have six Seikos in price range 1000-2000 dollars and Tudor BB41, and still day after day I choose OC2, it's just superb. Yeap, Ginault founder has past, but so have we all. We learn our mistakes and some times it creates something awesome, which we all know today name by Ginault.
Nice watch, I do not care what people say about the manufacturer's past. Rolex has been manipulating their watches supply and demand for many years to make their watches more "exclusive" and expensive beyond retail price and I don't hear anyone saying anything about it. If you like a watch buy it.

If you like this watch, but don't like the price, check out the Square 1545 Atmos classic line. The case finishing isn't as refined as the Ginault, but the build quality is definitely there at a third of the price.
This particular version is actually considered Ocean Rover 2.5 - John has made some improvements to the watch compared to initial OR2 that was sold during pre-sale but has not stated those one the website. From the Ginault Facebook page and John's clarifications, the changes are as follows: - slimmer caseback, allowing the watch to sit at approx 11.2 mm (compared to 12.5 mm of the original OR2); - improved AR Coating - 3 layers of AR coating on the inside compared to 2 on the inside and 1 on the outside, allowing for better visibility and preventing scratches - AR coating on the outside is prone to scratches that are visible under certain conditions; - added minute indices under "Hand Build in America" - initial versions didn't have those, however John started additing those dials in 2021 so there is a batch of OR2's with the new dial but without other improvements. Nevertheless, every newly ordered OR2 has all of the above improvements. Just beware when buying them secondhand.
@RabbitWatchShop Fair point, but breitling/tudor are around £4k+ new & little less used) but ur buying this cause it's homaging (clomaging to b precise) a submariner that's £12k+. It's very well made, looks the part frm a distance or close-up & now uses selita/eta movements.. I own sinn, doxa, squale, tudor, breitling, hamilton +others, but can't justify a real submariner.. But this ginault gets there at a fraction of that.😊
Entry diver Breitling and Tudors are not close to 1.8k but closer to 3500. For many an extra 1.5k is not possible. So this watch, with its fit and finish quality is a good option for many.
I got the ORII a few years ago but with the gold-sand lume and an inverted date dial (black background date wheel with white numbering), it is my favorite watch to wear.
I had the OR2 date and OR2 No Date, loved them both but i have to sell the date since i hardly use it. I do wish that he can make a datejust homage or a chronograph since I'm starting to get interested in dress watches and he's been having the same watches for 4-6 years already. What will also be great if he can also create a gmt sub since that's also popular.

Super watch. I have an Ocean Rover and Ocean Rover 2 and they are excellent watches. If you have a Rolex but want a hugh quality daily beater at 80% of the quality of a Submariner but at a fraction of the cost, then the Ocean Rover is a superb option. The Ocean Rover 2 with the ceramic bezel is genuinely an excellent watch. Great review here.

Excellent review. I own the Ginault Silent Service no date, and man, it's so nice. Fit and finish are up there with the best in my collection, easily beating any Tudor I've owned. Appreciate that you're looking at Ginault and the watch itself, not focusing on the "controversial past" that so many people can't seem to get over - like their favorite Swiss brands have no dirt in their closet. As much as I like my Silent Service, I think I'm going to let it go soon to fund the blue bezel Ocean Rover II with a date. Like you, I prefer all my watches with dates at this point and I need a splash of color in my sea of black watches. Subbed. Looking forward to future videos.
How much is this $500 watch?? I’d rather have 3 Steinharts for the money. The Ginault bracelet IS very nice. I owned a ocean rover and a steinhart sold the ginault and kept the Steinhart
I can’t fault SM on value but having experienced Ginault watches and at least 6 SMs I don’t think SM are anywhere close on quality and they are certainly not better.

Appreciate the movement may be the same but the SM prices for the Sellita movement versions are considerably higher and the Ginault movement is regulated to COSC standards. Also that movement appears in watches that are considerably more expensive than the Ginault e.g. Oris 65 (unregulated). From your comment referencing “looks” I am assuming that you haven’t handled both. I would encourage you to get your hands on a Ginault before you really make up your mind. I had reservations but thought it best to actually get one so as to be fully informed rather than relying on received or assumed wisdom. For the record I am more of an SM fan boy than a Ginault fan boy (mainly price driven) but both are great offerings at their price points - and these are justifiably quite different. SM is probably the best bang for buck in the c.$300 gategory and Ginault is certainly an honorable mention if not the best bang for buck in the c.$1,100 category (as with SM they are regularly discounted).

You obviously have not handled the OR2 in person, so many RLX/Tudor owners in the group complimented how amazing Ginault's quality is comparing to the big boys. I am one of them.

I received my Ginault Silent Service in Feb. The overall finishing and quality is insane for the money. Runs dead flat 0s per day on my timegrapher.
This particular version is actually considered Ocean Rover 2.5 - John has made some improvements to the watch compared to initial OR2 that was sold during pre-sale but has not stated those one the website. From the Ginault Facebook page and John's clarifications, the changes are as follows:

Why does your OR2 have the minute markers under the 'built in america'? From pictures i've seen online and the Ginault site, it's missing the markers?
It must be a recent upgrade made to the dial design. I noticed that too, and appreciate them being there.

Hardly a budget watch at 1500-1800 dollars. Rather save up for an entry level luxury watch like a Breitling or Tudor at this pricepoint
