If you’re in a fight and your opponent doesn’t yell and just looks at you this way, just run. The guy has focused so much on the ass beating he’s about to deliver, he doesn’t even bother to yell.
Shout out to the guy playing Bjorn... his intimidation level is over 9000, and Bjorn's bloodlust is practically inhuman! Bone chilling how he walks up with that look on his face that said "I am Bjorn Ironside, eldest son of Ragnar Lothbrok, and I am here to KILL."
Salahuddin(Kingdom of Heaven) "A King does not kill a King! Aella(Vikings) .'hold my beer whilst i torture this King and leave him to die in a Snakepit When Aella sáw the infathomale WRATH of the Vikings, for what hé did, he knew there was no escaping.
TOM nah ubbe was the most like Ragnar (personality and heart wise) ubbe cared about things like Ragnar did he also reminded me most of Ragnar as in feelings and emotions. Bjorn was also like Ragnar. Nah Ivar was his mother just like her!
Ahahah I imagined it like this: Aella: "My lord bishop, let us go to war!" Vikings: "RAAAGNAAARR!" Aella: "On second thought, let's restore our allegiance with king Ecbert!"
Ragnar was something more than just human or king of kattegat. He was an idea. That moment show this perfectly. I want to believe it and The Vikings want to believe it 2 in my opinion.
2:40 Love how everyone is chanting and roaring at Aelle but Bjorn and Floki, the ones who knew Ragnar the most aside from Lagertha and Rollo, just stay silent and stare down Aelle seething with rage at the man who killed the man they held dearest.
I love how they didn't show the battle. I mean, there was hardly a need, they were massively outnumbered and the Vikings were out for vengeance for their King, which only intensifies their strength. Not to mention the King even said he doesn't even think God can help them, which spelled doom for them even before it started. I loved this scene, I loved how everyone rolled deep to avenge Ragnar.
Still 10:1 odds are beatable in the right conditions. The Romans beat Boudicca, the Greeks the much more massive Persian army several times, etc. Just because you have an overwhelming majority doesn't mean you can just run up to your enemy with no tactics and expect to win. If the english had slightly more cavalry here and well organized shield formations the vikings could have been in trouble.
Everyone complaining that they wanted to see the battle, like no thats the point, this was no battle, it was a slaughter that would have been over in seconds. The main point of this episode was to show that the great army has finally arrived in England and to make Aella squeal. The real battle is yet to come. Vikings has never disappointed.
Red Molaric Thank you! Finally someone who understand it! tje main point was the arrive of the armie and everybody who is complaining about that should definitley wait for episode 19 and 20 where the huge battle between the GHA and the armies of Athelwulf will happen!
Spot on comment!!!! This was a great scene and I keep coming back to see it again. Floki coming up over the hill ... and that walk .... awesome. Ivar plowing in front of the great army. The backdrop scene of the great army ... R-A-G-N-A-R!!!!!! Wow!!!!!
The fact that they don't show it just lets the viewer imagine the one-sided ass kicking that took place. In a lot of ways I find that better. Don't get me wrong I love me a good battle scene, but leaving it to the imagination just makes it all the more awesome.
+Red Molaric Indeed. Aella was outnumbered 10:1 or even worse, his men were quivering in their boots at the sight of the viking-onslaught, where the viking's spirit was lifted even higher(as if they needed any more adrenaline-boasting). The 'battle' would have been 1 short march of the Vikings going 1 side to the other... To be fair, the last shot, before we go to Ivar in his chariot, the main charge,... that would have lasted 10-15 seconds at most... some cuts, some murderous screaming.... over... Hardest part of this fight from a viking PoV woudld be the cápture of King Aella, with thát many zealously vengeful warriors willing to kill anything saxon.
The fact that the death of one man spawned massive amounts of Norsemen to band together and avenge him is just amazing, and just what he wanted. His sons, his friends, his people all coming together to achieve what he never could was his plan all along. Ragnar Lothbrok really was the embodiment of a legend. Not just a man, but truly a legend. HAIL KING RAGNAR
I love the unbroken stare of pure hatred Floki gives Aelle as he comes over the hill. Harald and Halfdan try, but they just can't replicate the sheer menace Floki gives off.
Going back to this really just shows how much fame and influence Ragnar built up over his life. From simple farmer to king, from Viking to Man who singlehandedly infiltrated and sacked Paris. The fact that so many chieftains agreed to gather under his sons to avenge his death reminds people that even though his final moments weren’t the greatest that he still had immense respect among the norsemen.
The Way Bjornn Just Stares While Everyone Is Shouting Their War Cry Was Just Amazing. He Know's They're Going To Win And He's Going To Enjoy Killing That Guy.
The metal song in this scene is now my warm up song in the gym before lifting. It's called "Aelle's Army" by Trevor Morris if anyone wants to know and it's on spotify.
Just before the battle begins : Floki : "No. Wait!" Bjorn : "What?" Floki : "I changed my mind. No killing here today!!" Bjorn : "For Odin's sake, Flo, NOT AGAIN."
I love the acting in this show The sons of Ragnar as well as floki are absolutely fuming with rage barely holding it back I swear I could feel their anger through the tv screen
Every single 'Heathen' in that Army had their blood boiling! Ragnar Lothbrok was a LEGEND amongst the Vikings! A farmer who came from nothing, battled his way up to Earl, and even King! Found néw lands to conquer for his people! Even lands to occupy and farm to improve his people's supplies, position, developing... name it! Songs about respect and greatness: Every Viking would have agreed that Ragnar had éarned an Honorable death! Not the cowardly torture of Aella and his garrison! The disgust of denying the most fabled amongst the Vikings, his 'glorious Death', incited eách and ever one of them! Earls, Jarls, Kings, great warriors, Bersekers, Shieldmaidens: Every viking that could hold a Sword, swore to avenge Ragnar's death! Its not like Aella 'just killed one of them'... Aella cowarly tortured the GREATEST King in all the Viking-lands, to death! No Viking would stand for that! Aella hád to pay for his crime! ....well not just Aella.... Danelaw lasted over 100 years?... The entirety of Britan suffered for almost 3 full generations for Aella's respectless arrogance! ...maybe, just maybe, this 'saga' in history is the origin on 'a King doesnt kill a King"...... Aella killed a King, and fár more then just hís nation, suffered for many décades for it! Blood Eagle or not... Aella got the easy way out: His pain and torture was over, after that.... Britain bled for over 100 years!
"Sir shall we send an advanced force ahead?" "Nah just line everyone up on the hill" "What about a skirmishing force to screen the army and scout the enemy position, find out their numbers and maybe get an idea of what weapons they've got?" "What part of everyone on a hill do you not understand" "But we wont know where the enemy army is or how many they are, they could literally just walk around us, or out flank us entirely and cut or any retreat" "ON A HILL, EVERYONE, NOW!!!"
The fact that an entire country of Vikings came to fight for Ragnar proves how much respect they had for him. Unlike the kingdoms in England who were all separate like Aelle and his kingdom here. Maybe if he had support from Ecbert, he probably could’ve won the fight or at least do a huge number on the Vikings.
Ecbert + Aelle could have won. They would probably still be outnumbered, but they would be defenders and could take advantage of the overconfidence of the attackers shown here.
It sucks no battle but i understand why.. I mean look at the numbers.. King aelle's "army" was like 5% of the size of the great heathen army.. so i mean yeah we would have gotten to see a fight.. but really it would have been just a slaughter.
Over in moments, not much more then just a march from the GHA, literally walking over Aella's forces. When the Vikings reach the other side of the hill, All of Aella's men are dead or being executed, except for himself, ánd 'Lord Bishop', who was spared to tell the tale.

Yep, that's me, King Aelle, you're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
When keepin it real goes wrong.
"It all started when King Ragnar showed up to King Ecberts doorsteps"
It all started in the Summer of Aught Seven, in the Kingdom of Wessex...
I was in this battle loved it

Every human is cruel, thats part of the human nature
Floki walks 🚶♂️in like a BOSS nothing but murder on his mind!
you know that Bjorn is the most badass when he's the only one who's not doing a battle cry, but looks pissed as fuck.
Slumby Dude true
King Aelle: the army ain't that big

Shouldn't have said that, should not have said that

I love how everyone is roaring and Bjorn is like "Boss Mode" :)
Commander CheapSkate reminds me of Ragnar
He looked pissed af.
If you’re in a fight and your opponent doesn’t yell and just looks at you this way, just run. The guy has focused so much on the ass beating he’s about to deliver, he doesn’t even bother to yell.
Thought Bjorn was the weakest, floki killed it though.
@@alexman378 you said it best man
The way floki walked gives me chill
I came in my pants when everyone charged shouting "Ragnar!"

We all did!!!
Basically: I'm Bjorn Ironside, U killed my father, prepare to die

He is a Canadian Actor from Vancouver BC, Canada. He reps us well.
Loved Ubbe's smile right before they charged. Also when he smiled as they were giving the blood eagle. Hes quickly becoming one of my favorites
Also great acting from King Aella. The way he looks, posessed by fear, intensifies all the scene.

3:08 "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGNAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!" Ahahah, best battle cry ever!

Ahahah I imagined it like this:
Aella: "My lord bishop, let us go to war!"
Vikings: "RAAAGNAAARR!"
Aella: "On second thought, let's restore our allegiance with king Ecbert!"
Ragnar was something more than just human or king of kattegat. He was an idea. That moment show this perfectly. I want to believe it and The Vikings want to believe it 2 in my opinion.
I always get goosebumps when I hear that
Jonah From Tonga - RANGAAAAA!!
@@dekippiesip No chance they had 0 morale and their leader is a coward/idiot with no tactical plan.

Was it a slaughter or rape ?
The fact that the death of one man spawned massive amounts of Norsemen to band together and avenge him is just amazing, and just what he wanted. His sons, his friends, his people all coming together to achieve what he never could was his plan all along. Ragnar Lothbrok really was the embodiment of a legend. Not just a man, but truly a legend. HAIL KING RAGNAR
Well said Foopa san.
In this show, yeah.
how the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar suffered
Aelle: can we not expect to dispose of these heathens quite easily
His grace: *looking at floki* you had to fucking jinx it didn’t you
The clip of Floki striding up the hill is brilliant He alone could have taken care of Aella
"Oh how the little piggies will grunt, when they hear how the old boar suffered."
Gandalf: "Aelle King stands alone"

One of the most incredible scenes! You could feel the anger & revenge. Ragnar would be so proud of his sons
I love the acting in this show
The sons of Ragnar as well as floki are absolutely fuming with rage barely holding it back
I swear I could feel their anger through the tv screen
The look of bloodlust in Bjorn's eyes is absolutely bone-chilling. It's like Alexander Ludwig turned into a completely different person.
Exactly! The Seer predicted it to Ragnar “ your return to Kattegat will cause chaos and confusion “
The brotherly love between Ragnar and Floki. The way he works himself into a berserker state is awesome!
"I think we'll dispose of these heathens quite easily"
The only time all of these legends were together. Now most are dead. Heartbreaking. Amazing show.
"Sir shall we send an advanced force ahead?"
"Nah just line everyone up on the hill"
"What about a skirmishing force to screen the army and scout the enemy position, find out their numbers and maybe get an idea of what weapons they've got?"
"What part of everyone on a hill do you not understand"
"But we wont know where the enemy army is or how many they are, they could literally just walk around us, or out flank us entirely and cut or any retreat"
"ON A HILL, EVERYONE, NOW!!!"

I had laugh 😂
1:03 floki done did the best Viking walk ever. The guy who plays him is insanely good at doing his job🔥
Short-axe is not exactly the ideal weapon to use from a chariot, Ivar. LOL
i hope they add some sort of blades on the sides or something i dont see why not
Jarod Tutton Scythe chariot and a pole-arm of some kind, then Ivar would do some crazy damage to the enemy.
I was thinking he would have a bunch of axes he could throw
they were vikings, like they gave a fuck
Throwing axes or Javelins would do a great job, you can store a lot of them on a chariot.
Does anyone else get goosebumps watching this
1:16 amazing seeing his facial expression just change, he sees floki and all the other vikings and just instantly realised he’s fucked
I love the way Floki moves like a predator openly moving closer to his prey that has no chance.
I absolutely love how they just slowly reveal just how big their army is! :D
“God help us”
“I don’t think he can”
The way it was said haha
Seeing FLOKI WAS THE CLIMAX ...HE WAS READY TO RIP THEM LIMB FROM LIMB WITH NO WEAPON
Anarchy Time and it’s expensive
The great heathen army was like 10 times larger.
thesunstudio not in real history vikings have bullshitted most of the show
Probably less than 5%
I love how everyone came to avenge Ragnar and they yelled Ragnar
wow psychological warfare give the enemy a sense of superiority and then just destroy that feeling making them feel weak
thus lowering their morale making the soldiers less exited to fight withering their courage and actual will to fight
