Now that, I left him in 2012 for personal reasons...and we both went our separate ways for several years, we have come back into each other's lives and are best friends. He now has Stage 3 Advanced Lung Cancer and is fighting for his life. This song has ALWAYS made me cry, happy and now sad tears. Please pray for him because I can't imagine my life without him! I'm always so impressed with how Elton uses inverted chords with his left hand when he plays. I remember reading somewhere where his fingers were so short that it was difficult for him to reach some chords played the conventional way, so he simply inverted the chord. Same notes, but just in a different sequence where the tonic is no longer the bass note. Regardless of his playing style, he is magnificent - a true genius.

Approaching my 70’s now, this has been my favourite song from the first time I heard it. More to the point, it is only recent that I saw the clip from Rocketman showing the origin of Your Song which has cemented my feelings for this piece of music. I can only echo what has been said by others - timeless and beautiful. This music stirs the soul!
This was our song as we fell in love and sang to each other,then She had a stroke on 3/8 /14 and I sang to her alone. She passed on 11/8/19 and now it makes me Remember how much we loved each other.

I'm always so impressed with how Elton uses inverted chords with his left hand when he plays. I remember reading somewhere where his fingers were so short that it was difficult for him to reach some chords played the conventional way, so he simply inverted the chord. Same notes, but just in a different sequence where the tonic is no longer the bass note. Regardless of his playing style, he is magnificent - a true genius.
