Normally an artist is only as good as his backing band allow but this guy just kills it whether he's on his own,with his band or even with a 90 piece orchestra....
This is his favourite "Elton John" song, and it's mine too. In my top three all time favs, along with John Lennon's Jealous Guy and The Beatles A Day In The Life. :)
Bernie would leave the lyrics on the piano, for Elton to create the music. Most amazing songwriting team to ever grace the planet. When something works this well...it becomes the beautiful noise that creates a lifetime of memories..... okay...I've been listening for a long time. And have many memories and never get tired of one single track.

I think this song was written by his cross roads of his well known addiction and how he was in the battle to overcome them and his knowledge his music was still there great song been a fan since I. was 11 years old 42 years of. enjoying his great. talent just saw him in Chattanooga Mar 11 great show
I always imagined this was a cross roads to the realization that he was gay....and somebody saved him from getting married. It is curious that so many of his songs can be whatever you want them to be about though. Good ole Bernie!

I saw his farewell concert in Perth Western Australia. The sound and the performance were great. I am glad I got to see him before he retired.
