My God, as I lay in bed at 67, remembering this absolute legend, and song, I relies how blessed I am to be alive at this particular moment in time. It’s not going to get any better than this.
It's 4.24.24 at 2 am from West Virginia and Elton John is one of the greatest ever. I have seen him concert 9 time's and each concert was awesome. He definitely is a great performer. Hoping his health gets better from a nasty fall in his home. A great icon...
I was 32, homeless, 3 overdoses, 3 suicide attempts, given last rites Then someone showed me love 32 years fast forward, married a beautiful son, a beautiful wife and a daughter in heaven and my business is doubling every year 4 books in the writing, one is about to be published. I took that love and serve others now in 22 countries This song goes so deep to my heart Such gratitude Life is good Music is prayer 🙏❤️🔮🦋🙏
Verdaderamente es así, esta canción marcó mi vida desde que la escuché por primera vez. Luego murió un buen amigo y ahora la atesoro más. Saludos, espero sepa entender el castellano.
thank you for pointing this out, it's not just me, "one of the best songs ever written" I'm not just thinking personal effect, but many objective metrics, it just blows my mind like magic. The wiki page says that there was a man that pushed Elton on his vocals here, so he's to be thanked as well, because it's a whole character in this. This song is like a book.
We are so blessed Elton never died from any overdoses or diseases. It's a divine miracle. Look at all the beautiful catalog of music he & Bernie gave us. Soundtracks of lifetimes.
Well, truth be told... E & B only had that magic in the first half of one decade. Even Elton said, "We'll never be able to recreate what we had in the early seventies."
The end of a bad relationship left me very depressed. I mean clinically depressed. I felt numb for a year, and just felt down after that passed. This song helped me to come out of that depression. Music can effect people on that level.
I saw Elton live in 1974 Portland OR. He sat down at the piano at 8pm sharp and finished at 11:40pm (w a short break). Being the only act on the bill, it was advertised as 'An Evening with Elton John'. He was the biggest Rock/Pop act in the world. As you might guess, it was incredible. It seemed like he played every great song he wrote (w Bernie). A super far out evening indeed !
I didn’t see him til 1986-backstage-and of course I have a big mouth and yelled there he is! And he said shut the door lol but Bernie was pleasant. And I met 2 New York Metswho went on to win the World Series Ray Knight and Gary Carter!! It was the best concert I had ever seen and we had excellent seats!
This beautiful man saved my life. My regret is I couldn't be there to support him.. I was gifted Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by my sister who loved me more than I loved myself. I was doubly blessed to have both Elton and Eva in my life. I lost my sister to breast cancer and I am currently a CNA. Love is an amazing healer and I know what I'm doing. Thank you Reg and Bernie!
The words are Bernie's. And Elton adds brilliantly to the feelings that were already there. We hardly hear anything about Bernie, but I listen to him through these songs, his experiences and struggles, he really was just as important in this career as Elton himself.
Heard this song close to a thousand times or more. each and every time I either outright ball my eyes or at least a lump in my throat. Not sure why this touches me so deeply but I'll never tire of hearing it. Elton has so many good tunes.
To me he seems almost underrated. People today still talk about the Beatles, Stones, Michael Jackson , Prince, Madonna and so on. Don't seem to hear as much about Elton John these days.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds originally a Beatles song , Eltons version is by far the best. I remember him on soul train , singing benie and the jets, in a pimp hat, yeah he was that cool
All that you mentioned are played out or disappeared, Elton John is still standing and relevant. No my friend Elton John is simply an established fact.
If you were young in the 1970s you will remember that he was the biggest entertainer in the world. In 1975 he had two albums in a row enter the US charts at number 1. No other artist in history has done that
I was a major Beatle fan..Big time. But I loved Elton's music too. Now I am 75 yrs old and I never listen to any Beatle Songs. Today not a day goes by without an Elton song in it. Often times I sing myself to sleep singing "Your Song" The best words in any song is " How wonderfull life is while you're in the world". What a loving thing to say to another person. Elton's music will outlive many others.
Like ove said so much, thank you Bernie ,it would have all just been instrumental if he didn't exist and I'll bet none of us would have been listening to that station much growing up!lol?
This man ruled the airwaves in the 70s when I was growing up, what an amazing talent! So many fantastic songs!!!!! Hard to pick which one, this, or Funeral for a Friend, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, just too damn many to pick from, he's a musical genius!❤️👍‼️
I remember this song when i was 5 yrs old eveyone was still alive then i miss all my family members who have passed love yas forever thanks elton for this great song
Can not imagine life without his music filling every corner of it along the way,,,from the 70's up to now( 64 y.o. here),,.. best of the best...peace,, pat.
I have seen almost 1000 concerts. Seeing Elton just by himself (no band with him) in the mid 90's in Portland, Oregon was one of the top 3 shows ever. 20,000 fans just mesmerized. If ever there was an angelic voice, I would like to hear as I drift off to heaven it would be Eltons.
Yes, I saw Elton in 1993. Half the show solo, and for the second half he was joined by percussionist Ray Cooper, who was fantastic. Elton opened with "Your Song," just him and his piano, and I just remember it was pure ear candy to hear! His piano sounded so wonderful as it began to be amplified through the pavilion's sound system.
That Portland show was amazing. My buddy bught 2 front row seats and invited me. I can only look back now and think of how lucky I was to see that show. In the middle of the show, Elton stopped and came to the front of the stage and grabbed the Goodbye yellow brick record my buddy was holding and autographed it. Insane moment forever etched in my brain.
In about 1977, a tall thin kid sat bent over a standup piano in the back dining room of a summer camp in Littleton, N.H., playing and belting this tour de force out with all the passion Elton could have ever intended. Other kids crammed themselves into that tiny room just to be close to him as he poured it out all over the valley. It was magical.
I remember listening to Elton for the 1st time my freshman year in my girlfriends basement. We were holding hands playing Mr.John's music in 1975 that she introduced me to .I had at that time no idea how great a talent he was . Years later I saw him live twice and it hit me, in a word " amazing " the talent Elton has is beyond words and this is my favorite song with many others being a close second
Still haven't seen one comment mentioning Bernie, the first lyrics he wrote for Elton was to your song,he was seventeen at the time and Elton said he can remember how it effected him thinking no way is this kid seventeen with this kind of insight on love and life!he knew them they were meant to be!
That is a great song of elton john's then also, No sacrifice , Also , Sad songs , Don't go break in my heart, We'll, I actually 💝❤️,all of his songs.!!!!
Wow, how powerful is this song? Sometimes we never notice the struggle that other people are going through untilit'stoo late. I am so glad that Elton is still here, bless him ❤
The first time I heard Erin’s music I was in junior high and my eldest brother brought home Madman Across the Water. I wore his record out. After that, I’d save my allowance so I could buy every album as it came out. Now he’s Sir Elton John and a legend. So many great albums and so little time. Thanks to Elton for being the soundtrack to many great memories of my life.
Only saw him once. It was at the free concert he gave in Central Park in 1980. Just an awesome performer and great showman. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
My father was a DJ when I was growing up and I am grateful for it. I was made familiar with real music at a very young age. I learned a lot from the music. I made sure I raised my kids the same way.

I love this song. I sent it to my daughter in her 20’s that was going through a tough time and she replied it was one of her favorite songs. This was over a year ago. Now she’s sharing her life with someone who respects and loves her and her 5 kiddos Special Man there. I love seeing her genuine smile. My happy sweet baby girl.

It’s such a treat listening to Elton John’s song’s, especially after not hearing them for some 30 years, but all the good memories came flooding back the min I heard the first song of his, and then another, and another, and believe me, you can’t stop at just one… Strangely enuf, I’m enjoying his songs & music more now than I did in my youth, especially the one’s he personally wrote bcuz the lyrics are timeless, comforting, humorous, sad, loving, charming, happy, and celebratory bcuz he communicates to his fans they’re not alone, and we’re all in this together… 🎤🎧Elton John’s songs, and music is entertainment that’s as good as it gets!!! 🎹 ❤️Thank you Sir John for givin’ it your all!❤️ YOU’RE THE BEST OF THE BEST!!! ❤️Love Always!❤️ 🙏🏻✝️🕊
I remember getting to Central Park at 9am with mom one day in 1980. I was 14, and Elton was putting on a free concert to pay tribute to his friend John Lennon who was recently assassinated. I couldn’t understand why she had us there so early when he wasn’t due on stage until 4pm! By 4pm I couldn’t see where the audience ended behind me. We were about 25 yards away from the stage. The next day on the cover of the local paper, it read Elton John plays to audience of 300,000! So I guess by 4 there were 299,000 ppl behind me? They were in the trees too. Everywhere you could possibly be, there were ppl. Loved the concert. Could’ve done without the duck outfit on Bennie and the Jets, but that’s Elton. Gawd bless him. His music will endure for 100 years!
This song connects many of us to so many memories of love and lost love ...Mostly the latter Right ? His voice is haunting and just so much more ..It was instant heaven the first time I heard his voice. Thanks ELTON
Love Elton John! I remember this song was playing on the car radio, my Dad was driving and we were going to my cousin's house. His wife had passed away to Breast cancer . Makes me think of that day.
Evolution and experiences of a person over a lifetime...lined up with music. In so many ways he saved his own life with music and im sure many, many others..

He has influenced many musicians, and is a genius. I'm so glad I was a teenager when Goodbye Yellow Brick Road came out.

One of the best songs ever written! Absolutely timeless.....❤️❤️❤️
It’s such a treat listening to Elton John’s song’s, especially after not hearing them for some 30 years, but all the good memories came flooding back the min I heard the first song of his, and then another, and another, and believe me, you can’t stop at just one…
Strangely enuf, I’m enjoying his songs & music more now than I did in my youth, especially the one’s he personally wrote bcuz the lyrics are timeless, comforting, humorous, sad, loving, charming, happy, and celebratory bcuz he communicates to his fans they’re not alone, and we’re all in this together…
🎤🎧Elton John’s songs, and music is entertainment that’s as
good as it gets!!! 🎹

Definitely a master of the most incredible music in my life...
😮😮😮 wow you are blessed to have had this amazing experience!!
This song connects many of us to so many memories of love and lost love ...Mostly the latter Right ? His voice is haunting and just so much more ..It was instant heaven the first time I heard his voice. Thanks ELTON
Blessed to have seen him twice and he was magnificent. One of my five top concerts.
Love Elton John! I remember this song was playing on the car radio, my Dad was driving and we were going to my cousin's house. His wife had passed away to Breast cancer . Makes me think of that day.
