Kudos for your and that audience’s reaction. Contrast that with the seemingly unfeeling commentator and audience in this video: An artist bares her soul and the audience just cheers - no wonder many artists have psychological problems.
This will always be my favourite live version of this song. So much raw emotion, incredible staging and lighting. Just one woman and a piano is all you need to create magic. Good to have you back Adele!
When this song went to #1 in Australia, the official video hadn’t been released yet, so Channel V (Australia’s main music channel) made this the de facto video and aired it on high rotation
Pure goosebumps. Smh. I never had a break up til my husband died 12 years ago. Age 51 then. Never bothered looking for anyone else. No one could ever match our love of 33 yrs. Its no fun alone I must say. I would always know there is no match for what we had. I can't imagine a break up and him still running around out there. We are musicians and I can hardly get thru a full song he wrote. I should shop them around. We played such beautiful musical along the classic rock genre. I miss him dearly. Especially when you hear songs like this. I can feel her pain. Much love to ya Adele.💓

Upon this songs release In 2008, I couldn't believe that Adele (someone I'd obviously never met) was able to write my life, write my love & write my pain, so specifically & so, so well, as if she'd plucked it right from my own mind & heart. Her ability to do this for millions of us world wide is absolutely incredible & her huge talent is totally incomparable. For years I used to cry while singing to this, but now I am just genuinely moved & playing the music on my piano feels like such a precious gift. Adele is (IMPO) a true, generational, British icon. A woman history will be listening to for decades & centuries to come. As long as there are humans, there will be love & so we'll always be touched by such creative writing, together with truly beautifully written & played music.
It's called "empathy". We all had those feelings in our lives. And performances like Adele's bring back the memories or at least the emotions. Usually that is perfectly healthy, helps you process your experiences.
+Xenia Jessica You've never heard me sing. After about a minute there will be streams of tears rolling down your face...as you try to stuff your fingers in your ears and beg me to stop.
That last few seconds when she's stood around looking awkward just proves she's not the usual self obsessed artist of today and just a genuine person with a great voice
The crying in the elevator was after her performance at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City before the release of her '25' album. Not after this performance on the Brit Awards. If you haven't seen the Radio City Music Hall performances they are definitely worth a view! Got to see her in Texas on her '25' tour and it is still the best concert I have ever seen. Hats off to anyone who can make an arena sit and watch captivated while you stand still on a stage and just sway back and forth. #legend
I was in London the night before this and I called the guy I was dating. He was also dating someone else at the time and I made him choose… he chose her. I came back home and watched this performance live that night. I’d kept myself together until I watched this and then completely fell apart. It explained everything I was feeling and I’ll never forget that moment. It was my first ever heartbreak and the one that cut the deepest 🤍

Adele has never sounded, or more importantly looked more beautiful that she did this night. I always tear up at the notes she hits and the emotion she shows.
@@oliverdavis2422 they didn't meant that literally. The compliment was upon how Adele's whole vibe looks 'beautiful' because she is entirely immersed in her song, and it shows on her face....especially when she sings the last verse where even her voice begins to quiver, leaking the feels inside her heart out to the world. Adele is an amazing singer, and an amazing performer...but in this performance, there was something extra which no other performance of this or any other song of hers has had, perhaps the breakup was fresh in her mind back then, perhaps the pressures of making it big were more at this point in her career, and it all boiled down and manifested into this amazing performance. It cannot be pointed to her voice or her looks alone...it is a combination of it all, her expressions, her body language while singing, her stage presence, her lyrics and ALSO the time she sang this, 2011....just before 21 as an album became so viral that it became 21st century's best selling record.
@@rishabhrox1 A beautiful explanation. Adele was born from the heart she showed and from the innocence seen in her eyes. This performance was from her soul and we saw it raw.
She is truly great. Her lyrics have meaning, her songs tell stories & provoke physical & emotional responses, from goosebumps to tears. And this is not my typical genre of music but I can't help it, she's too good & so beautiful.
This song brought the love of my life back in to my life. After years apart. I got a text then a cd in the post .got told to play this ....... where back together 5 years and still in Love. Thank you Adele xxxxxx
I am almost 60 years old now, but I remember when this album came out - it was a dark place for me, she probably saved me then... I will never forget these songs, these lyrics and that voice - she'll never know what I owe her...but I always will.
I have no idea how she did this without falling to the floor and curling up into a ball of emotions. I can’t even sing this in my bedroom by myself without bawling my eyes out... forget doing it front of millions of people. That woman is a gift from God. ❤️❤️❤️
Just a piano and a voice. This performance I remember it and how it gave me such chills and still does. If people hadn't noticed Adele they surely did after this performance around the world.
She does tend to get emotional singing this song more than the rest. I’m hoping there’ll be a new album soon. Must have had a lot of material... Getting married and then it sadly not working out. Co-parenting their son together. She just brought at $10+m property out back of their family home so they live close by for their sons sake! That’s being a true adult. Putting your children first!!
でッ I believe she wrote it herself as well. The producer of this song told an article that Adele cried multiple times during recordings and had to stop mid tracks but if you listen to the finished song she still cries towards the end.
Im 50 this year and will say this performance by this absolutely beautiful lady was utter perfection ...ive cried at funerals loosing friends to young !! ..My sister and i had a tough time through the divorce of our parents when we young and i found i bottled up all my feelings and emotions for all those years... ..played this with my mum and we both cried hard ....A pain/feeling was released from my heart...Thank you Adele XXXXXXX
Not a big fan of her genre of music, but this song is amazing. I can count the number of songs that give me goosebumps on one hand, and this is definitely one of them.
Ditto. This performance is in my top. Unchained Melody live is number 1 Disturbed's version in Conan number 2 and this at 3. That's the performance that changed her career.
I think it’s important for people who don’t really know the impact of this performance and what happened in the days after to know about it. The BRITs is a huge deal, to win an award or be invited to perform here means your doing something right! I had heard Adele’s chasing pavements and a few other songs before this performance but I wouldn’t say I knew who Adele was. This performance brought Adele to everyone’s attention, this one performance is the starting point of her insanely successful career and the moment she became an icon in millions of people’s eyes. There’s even an interview with Adele where she talks about flying to New York the next day and when she got of the plane how ‘Her life was never the same’. This show is broadcast live at night and I can remember watching this, it was 2011 and I was watching it with my family and we were all just silent listening to every word she was singing. The next day I remember everyone was talking about her, Adele was in the news, on TV and in newspapers. The album sales of 21 had risen by over 800% on Amazon alone (I always remember this fact for some reason) 😂 and Adele had gone to number 1. It was this same week that Adele went on to have two Albums and two singles in the top 5 at the same time. The first artist to do that since The Beatles!! I think most of you will know her accolades but here a few, she has since won 9 BRITs(which is insane as they don’t give them out / have a lot of category’s like the Grammys) ,15 GRAMMYs, oscars and even a golden globe. She has sold over 100,000,000 records (with just 3 albums) and has the 1st & 3rd best selling albums of the 21st century, as well as the 4th & 14th best selling album of all time in the UK!!! As well as the best selling album Worldwide in 2011,2012,2015 &2016. She has the fastest selling album of all time in the UK ,US , Canada (along with many other countries) she has spent more weeks at no.1 than any female artist ever in the UK and has just signed a £90 million record deal which is the highest recording contract for a female artist ever. She has all this but manages to keep her feet on the ground. It’s such an inspiring story as she grew up in a rough part of London and is now the biggest / most successful artist of our generation it shows that anything is possible and this performance is where she went from an artist to a living Legend.
She's great an all but yet man said at the start that she was number one in 17 countries before this performance. This may have been the moment you and many others heard her, but this wasn't her breakout. Soz.

***** Nothing compares to a live performance...
She had a grammy before this but def was a game changer
RuReady115
yes, it very funny that many people was not aware of that. when she got bigger in USA for examples , they were shock she had success with first ablum 19 in uk/europe.
+raquel very true, to pull off a ballad like this, note perfect, in front of such a huge live audience is the mark of a true superstar.
MJ she got bigger in the U.S.A. ,!!!!! Must have been the cream cakes 😂
''There is nothing quite like the feeling when you are listening to a song written by someone you don`t know or you`ve never met, who somehow manages to describe exactly how you felt at a particular moment in your life. This next artist is able to do that time after time. If you`ve ever had a broken heart, you`re about to remember it now.''
Am i the only one who dead-right loves James cordon`s intro speech?

Na. Definitely did the song justice
I really loved what he said afterwards!" Wow, wasn't that amazing? You can have all the dancers, the pyrotechnics, all the lasershows you want... But if you sound like that... All you need is a piano! Incredible."
Tanvir Sifat we all heard what he said you didnt need to write it down
Seriously, dude? Here's a thought. When you get a minute pull your head out of your ass.
She turned down a wedding invitation to the royal wedding because she was having a barbecue with her mates that is just pure class
Really.....wow . How did you know though....
I wish I could come up with some really exotic reason but I can't it was on the news
@@gerardwhite2689 why you wish that 😚😚 it's fine
Thank you
I was at that BBQ with Adele.. It was shit so we all turned up late to the Royal Wedding, had a voulevant and went back to Fat Darrells for a Chinese.
THE pain of loss in the cracked voice and eloquent words.... I cannot imagine. Thank God, I was lucky in love. Loved only once, and for a lifetime. .....

The fact that she is almost in tears after her own performance speaks volumes. This is hands down one of the most elegant and touching live performances ive ever seen.
Tim Hartings the combination of the lyrics and coming back to music after a break
BJ Baratti Wow you certainly have a way with words. But why so philosophical? This is just a website where you come to watch videos and maybe post a passing funny comment. You’re boring the hell out of everybody BJ. This is the internet, no one cares about what you think, write or just you generally. Fuck outta here with that BS
One of the most amazing heart-breaking songs ever.
Tell me about it
Timeless, master piece. And she has amazing voice and delivery.
I cry every listening
She always puts everything into her songs . Adele you’re fabulous
Yup 😔.
She already had loads of fans but this was the performance that made it all. I remember watching live stunned in silence in Ireland
I remember watching this live and everyone in the room just sat in silence until the end. Still get goosebumps
Kudos for your and that audience’s reaction. Contrast that with the seemingly unfeeling commentator and audience in this video: An artist bares her soul and the audience just cheers - no wonder many artists have psychological problems.
okay
@@gevangasteren nigga what??
Right, I remember watching this live like it was yesterday. Not one dry eye in my house that night
Yip 👏😭
nobody mentioned the pianist . . great job bro 👍
Mad lad
He is fantastic!
because he's not singing the song🤣
Absolutely, the fact that he takes her cue to end the song too
Really? Simple, dull arpeggios. It's the most basic and boring piano accompaniment.
This will always be my favourite live version of this song. So much raw emotion, incredible staging and lighting. Just one woman and a piano is all you need to create magic. Good to have you back Adele!
At the end of the song, look at her face and they way she 'Body speaks', she lived the song right at that moment for me....Wooooow!

True that
When this song went to #1 in Australia, the official video hadn’t been released yet, so Channel V (Australia’s main music channel) made this the de facto video and aired it on high rotation
This is more than a music video - it’s a moment in time that is way more memorable 😍

I remember watching this live and thinking this is the best thing I’ve ever seen. Absolute legend Adele is!
Much love to ya Adele.💓
im so sorry. you made me cry. i hope you are ok :)
@@williamjohansen515 I'm ok now. Still miss the hell out of him tho. Its been 12 years now. I've learned to deal with it..the pain never goes away I just handle it bertter. A song, a voice and a pianist - nothing better.
Hello Karina, I'm actually new her so I really need someone to talk with or probably have more conversation together
Completely agree.
Hello
How are you doing
"If you've ever had a broken heart, you're 'bout to remember it now..."
@Chris Gandy honestly, I've never been in that case before but when she sang, I felt like i did
You ain't kiddin'.
Fuckin right
Yep 😂
10 years ago we got this powerful performance by her and it still puts me to tears. I cannot explain how much this song hits me in the feels.
That sounds like depression to me
It's called "empathy".
We all had those feelings in our lives. And performances like Adele's bring back the memories or at least the emotions. Usually that is perfectly healthy, helps you process your experiences.
No singer could ever make me cry like that
+Xenia Jessica You've never heard me sing. After about a minute there will be streams of tears rolling down your face...as you try to stuff your fingers in your ears and beg me to stop.
Haha
+Xenia Jessica What if Elton John poked you in the eye with his finger?
+Rob Fraser no if lady Gaga poked her face ... pun intended yes ...

Wasn't silent.
You can notice how her voice breaks, that feeling that makes us all love her. I can't wait for her new album
♾️
You are kind 😇
Hope you liked her new album

That last few seconds when she's stood around looking awkward just proves she's not the usual self obsessed artist of today and just a genuine person with a great voice
When the Brit award aired, they followed her to a elevator, that had her man in it, she hugged him crying, prob due 2 nerves. Still remember that bit
She has very bad stage fright.
Merccy me
Norm Ralkie that was at her radio city music hall concert
The crying in the elevator was after her performance at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City before the release of her '25' album. Not after this performance on the Brit Awards. If you haven't seen the Radio City Music Hall performances they are definitely worth a view! Got to see her in Texas on her '25' tour and it is still the best concert I have ever seen. Hats off to anyone who can make an arena sit and watch captivated while you stand still on a stage and just sway back and forth. #legend
Art is completely subjective and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. That being said, this is the greatest performance of art that is ever done.
It was my first ever heartbreak and the one that cut the deepest 🤍
hope you found the one?!!
I can relate
I know this was a long time ago, but I feel your pain. I was rejected by my first love, high school, many times. I still dream about him.
@@Fletcher938 sadly not as of yet 😆 gotten a lot more selective though, just perhaps too selective. Happy with just me and my pup at the moment so all is well 🙂🐶
Yeah I felt that to. But hey, if you’re falling for a guy this hard after one date you should get help.
Everytime she sings the chorus it gives me chills !
yea !!!!!!
PUT A BLOODY JUMPER ON!
James says it so perfectly: Sometimes all you need is a piano and a voice like this. Amazing! It makes me cry every time.
She has made me cry. All her feelings ,I feel them as she sings
When you have a great voice like hers, instruments are just there for spice.
This gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes every time, no matter how long it's been since I heard/watched it. I hope Adele knows how amazing she is, gorgeous woman, talented through and through, and a belting singer.
Everytime i hear this song, i get emotional. Now even more, sitting here with a shattered heart. God i'm crying, she makes me feel the lyrics so perfectly.

You can tell how good she is by the silence of the audience. Amazing performance
The performance of a lifetime, this literally changed her life.
Hello, I’m Morgan and nice to meet you
the tiny nail bite at the end, omg. she is an absolute treasure, and we must protect her at all costs. xx
Adele has never sounded, or more importantly looked more beautiful that she did this night. I always tear up at the notes she hits and the emotion she shows.
I don't think looks are 'more important'

Raw.. She was so choked at the end..

Up4Jess she just lets the feelings goes, once the thank you has been said, all the mood gone...
She said thank you at the end

She is truly great. Her lyrics have meaning, her songs tell stories & provoke physical & emotional responses, from goosebumps to tears. And this is not my typical genre of music but I can't help it, she's too good & so beautiful.
This is the moment for the British people she stopped being Adele the pop singer, and became simply...Adele.

At the end she’s holding her tears so hard !!! She is amazing !
@でッ It's a powerful ballad, she hasn't done any others quite like this.

Ditto. This performance is in my top. Unchained Melody live is number 1 Disturbed's version in Conan number 2 and this at 3. That's the performance that changed her career.
This and Street Spirit live in Yokohama are probably my favorite live performances
Wow..well said 👏👏👏
Thanx...
