- This performance of ‘Your Song’ was Elton’s second appearance on Top Of The Pops, airing on January 14th 1971. This was just one week before the song became his first-ever entry on the UK Singles Chart. Taken from Elton’s eponymous second UK album, the now classic ballad peaked at #7 and spent 10 weeks inside the Top 40. This performance, recorded at the BBC Television Centre, features band members Nigel Olsson on drums and Dee Murray on bass.

It was the first song recorded in a cassete that i gave my girlfriend 33 years ago.
Now I am 57 and she passed away, she left last weekend. I miss her but I still have this song alive here with me. RIP Cassia.

Bernie wrote the lyrics to most of Eltons hits.
I met my wife while overseas and fell in love immediately. My ship left and we wrote letters. I copied down the words and mailed it in a box with this song the first cut on my mix tape of songs for her. I worked her Visa, she came to California, we built that house, 4 daughters and 5 grandchildren and 35 years later THIS SONG has always been in our house.

The day I met my future wife, I walked over to ask her to dance and this song came on. This was the first song we ever danced together. Translating to Spanish for her as we danced sealed the deal, we were married 6 months later, and 40 years later I still love her.

I met my father when I was 39 years old. It turned out to be one of the most special experiences of my life. We talked for months every Sunday before I met him in person. As I got to know him, I felt blessed. I played this song ALL the time because I felt how wonderful my life was with my dad in the world. I had him for 2 years, as he passed away from throat cancer in 2006. I never felt cheated but blessed that I had him in my life for any time at all.

Telling my age here, but when I was in college, I had a boyfriend that was a DJ for a radio station. My college was about 2 and a half hours from where he worked, but if I sat on my dorm room window ledge with my radio antenna pointed out, I could pick him up. Every night between 9-10 he would play a song that I knew was just for me. This was the one he played the most often.

This song is truly a universal expression of sweet, gentle, true, true love. What a melody, and the lyrics are unbelievably wonderful. My best friend sings this for me sometimes, and I sang it back to him, substituting "girl" for "man" and "brown" for "blue", heh.. My Fiancé from the time he met always played his guitar and sang this song to me and it was always so moving every time he sang it to me with all the Love in his eyes pouring out of his Heart into mine and I could see that he was feeling every word. He was sadly taken from me when he was killed on his Motocycle 40 years ago before we could be married, on his way home from work being stuck by someone who didn't see him. I Never stop missing him & This song will always be very Special & deeply meaningful to me and always moves me deeply often bringing tears....., it will always and Forever be my favorite song. He taught me so much about Life and I was Blessed to share the years with him I did. I always listen to it especially on his Birthday and dedicate it to him.
I listened this song 42 years ago, in a very special moment of my life , they were so magic moments, that when I listen again to this song, those moments comes again to my mind , as if it' s now.
