That tractor is a thing of beauty and a beast of a workhorse.....id say the best modern front assist of its time and several years over its predecessor mx's!
I retired from farming this year and actually kept my favorite 7220 Magnum and a blade just in case I get snowed in. We also had a newer MX Magnum, a 7110, and a 5140 Maxxum. I feel the reliability of those tractors was one reason we succeeded.
Our 1998 8920 has had so few issues that we were blown away by the Magnum 285 we bought later...when a company has an arm rest controller "swap out program" you know that things at Case were starting to go sideways...yet after doing the necessary updates, it has been a very reliable tractor similar to the best Magnum 89xx. And after a good polish, they look great in the town parade.
Sold my 7140 with just over 14,000hrs. Never touched the engine, transmission or hydraulics. Just regular maintenance. It was by far the cheapest tractor to maintain I’ve ever owned.
Great video Jason. That 8950 sure sounds healthy!! Pretty cool towards the end of the video with him coming at you planting and the Deere in the background working ground!!
It is always fun to show another tractor working in the distance or rolling down the road in the background. It happens more often than I can show because unfortunately the machines to do not line up at the same time.
We have several magnums, none under 10000hrs. One over 20k. Did motor in it at 15k. Have never touched a tranny on any of them. My friend owns the AGRI parts business in Irma. Wears John Deere underwear but admits the magnums are the toughest tractors ever built. No sweeter sound than that 8.3 pulling!😇
It’s funny the 8950 is an awesome tractor today but in 1997 it was looking very dated compared to the John Deere 8400 and New Holland Genesis 8970. Every one eager for the big MX270.
@@bigtractorpower Not me. I dreaded the coming change to the Case tractors. I do love the JD 8XXX/8X1X series though. These Case series and the JD4960/8X10 series are all awesome looking machines.
I always thought those planters were unique but I didn't know till this video that CASE IH referred to their planters as "Early Riser" as they have kept that name for all these years. Very cool. Thanks Jason👍🏻😁
When I die and go to heaven, hopefully it's the 1990s again and there's a new 8950 MFWD and a new OBS Chevy K2500 single cab waiting on me! Boxcars over 8Rs any day!!!
That series tractor should have run for ten years instead of 2 it was affordable great power and field stands let alone how nibble it was and versatile for so many jobs great video again
Looking back the the 8900 tractors are awesome. At the time the John Deere 8000 series made them look dated and everyone was wondering what was next for Case IH.
Boxcar magnums 71-89 series are some tough tractors. Most in my area were hotter than listed hp. Long as you can keep the exhaust temp lower I've seen them dyno as high as 290hp pulling strip till planter combos and ripper bedders. Great video btp!!
The Cyclo Air planters are probably the coolest looking planters ever. The red & white boxes with polished metal intake filters look tons better than today’s ugly plastic rounded blobs.

The 8900 series are the pinnacle of the first generation Magnum design.

The 7220 is one of my favorite tractors. The Box Car Magnums are the Modern Day Farmall M. Built to last.
@@bigtractorpower What's funny is, I kept a Farmall M too.
I do understand your preference for the iconic Red...
My first experience working ground was with a 7140 ........absolutely loved running that tractor!

Good for you, sir! I've heard that from several owners. And that is my perspective regarding my 10028h of my 7120...
IH power!!!

The older magnums are nice to see👍😁
We have a 7230 magnum that has done over 9000 hrs and is still going strong, really like the 8950👍
Is that case tractor from the 90s era

great video we run a case ih 7240 7120 1200 12 row 30 planter
Nice sound coming out of that big exhaust!
😁👍👍
Them cyclo planters look great. I wish we had them here so i could see how they worked and the results like the spacing and such
Awesome video thanks for sharing I think the 90s had the best tractors from all companies 💯💯💯💯
It was a great time in farming.
is my favorite boxcar magnum of all. ran one for many years
Great video! That Cummins sounds great
Man those are great looking tractors! Case shoulda stuck with that look instead of what they have had for several years now.

The Early Riser name is still in use in 2022 👍👍
I didn’t think the Case IH merger was that early. Thank You Jason!
Case IH was created on November 26, 1984.
Run 2 magnums here, a 7220 that pulls a 1255 early riser and grain cart for beans and a mx230 that does all our tillage and grain cart for corn

Hi Jason! I really enjoy and appreciate your channel. Keep the great videos coming. Thanks!
Thank you for watching. They are fun to share.
The straight pipe makes it really stand out.
The CDC engine has a deep growl.
Great awesome video Jason
The 8950 is a cool tractor.
We love our low houred 7140
Very nice.
excellent video thanks for sharing!!!!!!

Plain truth!
The Cyclo Air planters are probably the coolest looking planters ever. The red & white boxes with polished metal intake filters look tons better than today’s ugly plastic rounded blobs.
Excellent content choice for the video! Love the Magnums!
The 8950 is a stand out plus the period correct 955 corn planter makes a cool team.
that same tractor today with 3000 hrs or less sells for 90k to 120k ive seen on tractorhouse and fastline
Haven't seen that style of planter in a long time .
It was neat to catch a 1990’s tractor and corn planter.
They also built a few 1999 8900 series.
Good looking old case... It's been looked after for sure.they have new early riser planters out right?. thx Jason
Nice tractor
👍👍
Best red tractor ever made would love to have one I do run a cyclo tho
The 8950 is a solid tractor. It was cool to feature an 8959 with a matching 1990’s corn planter. Do you like your Cyclo.
@@bigtractorpower so far it's been a good unit it's a 6 row 30" or 12 row 15" for beans
Known in Europe as Magnum 7250 Pro.
Very cool variation.
Great vídeo Jason.
Thank you for watching.
Bellissimo video 🙋♂️🌈🌻🌞
Good video
Thank you for watching.
Wow!
One of the very best Case IH tractors.
Another great video Jason, but why were they called Boxcar's?
It is a nick name they picked up over the years for their square boxy look compared to the long rounded Magnums produced today.
@@bigtractorpower Thanks Jason - hope you're having a good day.
Nice👍🏻👌🏻
Thank you for watching.
Hello! I do like to watch any Magnum! I am not impartial because being owner of an old 7120...
The 7120 is one of the best selling Magnums of all time 😁👍
@@bigtractorpower 👌
Hi Jason🖐🏻🖐🏻🖐🏻
Hi Brad. Thank you for watching so many BTP videos.
Remember the 8900 Series being introduced in 1996
The 8900 may have been shown at the 1996 Fall Farm Shows but they were for model year 1997.
Cele mai bune Case Magnum au fost seria 8910 8920 ... 8950
