Despite the "comments" this Mom saw her daughter needed some help. She didn't judge, but helped fix a problem. Kept it in her daughter's style, and honored her wish to not be filmed. This is content lots of us can use for ourselves to solve our problems areas.

The way you validate your daughter's personality and storage methods is beautiful. I'm actually crying over you not trying to change her method of throwing clothes in a drawer without folding. It's making me feel like I don't have to think there's something wrong with me because I operate differently than typical expectations.

Couple tips for those wanting an Elfa system. She's right, they are top of the line and excellent quality. Take it from someone who tried a couple different other less expensive systems and ended up trashing them because they didn't hold up. I finally decided to bite the bullet and go to the Container Store for the Elfa but was truly GOBSMACKED at the cost.
Tip 1. If you're struggling with the cost, talk to the store manager and ask when they go on sale. I discussed with the manager that I wanted to get 3 different configurations for 3 different places in my house but couldn't afford it and asked if there was a scheduled time they would be on sale. I found they go on sale at the store near me twice a year. I returned 5 months later (saved in the meantime) and was able to get everything I needed at SIGNIFICANT savings (still expensive, but so much less so).
Tip 2. As expensive as it is, think of it as an INVESTMENT. The systems (especially the over-the-door) can be removed and move WITH you. Only need to purchase once and can be used wherever you go.
Tip 3. For the over the door mount systems, save the Allen wrench that tightens the unit from the top WITH the system once it's installed. (Mine is in a sandwich bag binder clipped to one of the baskets). With the door constantly being opened and closed the mechanism will slowly, over the course of about a year loosen a tiny bit and the rod will swing just a tiny bit at the bottom, just enough to be irritating. Just grab the Allen wrench and tighten from the top and it's good for another year. Save you from hunting high and low for an Allen wrench to fit.

I cannot believe some of these comments🤦🏼‍♀️.
Cas, I have two adult kids, 32 and 34 yrs old, I can tell you their rooms looked a lot worse than your daughters room, I mean a lot! I did the same thing for them. I would help them to declutter and some times would surprise them to a clean room. Guess what? They learned how to declutter and clean from watching me. They are now successful women with nice homes that are neat and tidy. But you know what I'm the most proud of, I'm proud of their empathy and compassion. Keep being there for your daughter, she will never forget your compassion. Some people need to check their own glass house before throwing rocks at others. I'm so sorry Cas that some people feel the need to judge. You are awesome!! Thank you for amazing content!!

My favorite thing you've ever said was that its ok for me to just shove things in the drawers and bins. I've always had empty drawers and bins because I have an autoimmune disease that leaves me with very little physical energy to maintain my home. Before you gave me that permission, almost everything I owned was on top of things (tables, dressers) because I felt like everything needed to be perfectly folded and sorted into my drawers and bins. So THANK YOU from this Ladybug. :)

I did this for someone and they were so amazed, they never looked back! (I just think it would have been interesting)🤔 Not to mention how you triggered OUR OCD when you hung up two tops inside out and one hoodie backwards!!!😳😵‍💫😬. 🤣😅😂

My mom (my favorite person in the world) "taught" me how to be organized, but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't maintain the system. Even before discovering Clutterbug, I decided that closet doors, closed hampers, bed frames, trunks, and wardrobes were not fot me and got rid of them, which IMMEDIATELY helped me keep my stuff significantly more organized.
I'm surprised by the comments - considering they are probably being left by people who themselves need help and support in organizing spaces. What Cass did was gift her daughter with the power to accept herself exactly as she is, and to discover the organization method that ACTUALLY works for her - and the freedom to redesign it however she sees fit in the future.

BUT the love of my mom and the time she took to show me.. I wouldn't change for the world! I know other moms that yell I love you from across the room, but won't get up to even tuck them in bed. So yep I'll take the burden of being a life long hot mess sandwich, knowing mom was in fact there for me and cared. ( Before everyone freaks out.. I am considered disabled. It doesnt look like it from the outside, but i was born with Spina Bifida and had over 30 surgeries. So a lot I couldn't and still can not do. I do as much as I can!)

My husband and kids hate to fold clothes, they always shove them into their drawers and armoires (in Germany we don't have closets, we buy furniture to store our clothes). And I have been nagging them for years that they are supposed to fold. No, they don't. Thanks for this advice!

My quick guess is $4-5K. But Cas went with some of the pricier options like the wood fronts. If you don't mind the mesh look that will save some money. Elfa stuff is really nice and as other comments have pointed out can be removed and go with you if you move. And it's pretty easily reconfigured if your needs change. I don't have a full closet but have a few of the door systems and am glad I have them. Elfa does normally go on sale once in Jan/Feb and sometimes randomly during the year as well.

Pro tip for desks for artsy kids: don’t recover/clean it every time it gets splattered. It will again. If you can, then instead get them something that will look GOOD splattered. :) Dark wood, the more beat up and scratched the better, usually looks brilliant covered in paint splotches and stains, and it builds up this beautiful creative patina, like a messy scrapbook of past projects.
Love the final room, looks gorgeous and you kept Izzy’s needs and personality in mind throughout the process. 💛

I wasn't about to leave my beloved Elfa behind when we sold our previous home. But, a big BUT, rearranging the previously cut to fit pieces to fit a new space that is configured in an entirely different way is a challenge that is still in process. It is still amazing how much an Elfa system can contain and keep organized!

I'm seeing some sad comments from people who feel inadequate compared to you, so rather than respond to them, I wanted to say thank you for my clean and tidy home, for ensuring that what could have been an easily inherited illness didn't take root in me, but most importantly for never changing one quirky hair on your head.

Definitely do the push lights! They help so much. I added them to my linen closet and I love them.

If you sometimes want the light to just come on, there are inexpensive rechargeable motion sensor lights for closets and rooms that will turn on when you reach in. it's handy when your hands are full.

I'm new to the Cricut. What type of vinal did you use on the drawers? What happens when you change the contents and need to change the label? This video has gotten me re-energized. Thanks!

This is wonderful! I would love a quick followup, maybe at the end of one of your videos sometime in the next month or two, if this new system ends up being THE ONE and working well long term for your daughter. I keep trying to help my daughter tweak her room to figure out what will be the easiest, fastest way for her to at least not dump everything in the floor. Your videos and tips have been so helpful 😊 I've been trying to slowly but surely declutter and reorganize our whole house. My goal is by the time we move again (military family) some vast improvements have been made and hopefully our next unpack and setup goes faster and smoother and all the good things 😜 I've been mostly figuring out what works for now and living with it to see if we are maintaining those spaces or if changes still need to be made. My hope is that I can eventually invest in better systems like the ones you've been showing us recently, but we aren't there yet 🤪
P.s. congratulations on the next phase to being a firefighter!!!! Good luck with your training!

Wow Izzy's room looks fabulous! I'm needing to organize my 13 year old daughter's,10 year old son and our bedroom. Heck my whole house looks like several people with ADHD live here! Doom piles everywhere. I have no issues with getting rid of stuff, I just need to push myself to do it! Maybe I should listen to your Podcast from Yesterday and grab a garbage bag and get rid of stuff.
Thank you for inspiring me to get more organized for mine and my family's ADHD& ASD

Girl!! You're doing soooo good! I am proud of you! I have run a marathon and that first mile I ran on my way to getting in shape was the hardest. The more you run the prouder you are going to be and you are going to look back at how far you have come and cry even more! Keep running, keep lifting, keep studying - you got this!

My moms closet had one-bar-itis and we took the bar out and gave her four short bars with shelves above them (two on each side, from the door side to the back wall) and a dresser in the middle. For those complaining about the expense of this, it’s a good alternative and similar vibes. cost like $6 each for wooden dowels to cut in half and U brackets to hold them.

Cass, as always you are inspiring and encouraging. My teenage daughter's room is a mess and I was telling my husband about organizing it with what I've learned from you. With this video, I can show him what it could look like! Thanks to Issy for allowing us to see her room and Joe for helping you build that beautiful closet system. I love it and want it for my daughter's room.❤

Since we didn't get to see Izzie's reaction to the makeover, tell us what she thought of it. I"m guessing she was thrilled with the new look, especially since you took into consideration HER personality & preferences and didn't make it into YOUR ideal bedroom. I know someone whose mother chose everything for her room and had to have everything neatly laid out and balanced. (Matching lamps on matching night tables, etc.) Talk about imposing one's OCD issues on others!

As far as the Firefighter test coming up, YOU GOT THIS!!! 💪💪💪
You're smart and you do math ALL THE TIME while organizing, decorating, renovating, etc. You'll get the math stuff in no time, you just need a little practice!
I think the harder part is getting your body to the level of passing the Firefighter's testing requirements in a month, but it's definitely possible!
Just keep working at your strength training, steadily increasing your weights, focusing on the EXACT exercises they are testing you on, and you can do it!!!
Running one mile and lifting 80lbs over your head will feel like nothing in one month 😉💯💪🔥
