  • You know that decluttering and organization can change your life, but I wanted to show you that it doesn't have to be a huge and time-consuming project. I spent two days organizing, cleaning and decluttering this messy storage room and this cluttered craft room.
In just two days, we decluttered, organized and did a complete makeover of both spaces on a tiny budget. I hope this video inspires you to tackle a room in your home today! When you are feeling overwhelmed, remember: Five Minutes Matters. You don't need weeks or even months to get your home under control, you just need to get started!

I lived by that this morning and attacked one very disorganised place in my apartment. Not a whole room - that is far too much, just one space in my living room cabinet. (I can really recommend to only go at it for half an hour or twenty minutes at a time, to net get overwhelmed!) I threw away quite some paper things (I hate throwing that away, but I really, really have to, so I bit the bullet). And I collected a few games that have their place elsewhere, took them there, just to find I had to get at that container, too - as there wasn't enough space in that. So more throwing out (a card game where the cards showed signs from playing and the box was in tatters, and a game I never played since I bought it 30 years ago - so out it went). And while I did not finish that space in my cabinet - I made it definitely better, can do the rest after I return home from work, dust it, reorganize it.
I love "not perfect but better" - and I really need to keep in mind that you cannot organize clutter! But just what I did this morning already made a visible difference to my place. One less corner of chaos. It looks organised, not perfect, but as if the things were there for a reason. I can always prettify that later

@@franhunne8929 i suggest the "multiple pass" apprach. Get things in ONE room done, in very manageable steps you choose. Then, go back to where you started and attack it again. Maybe more thrown out, or better organization.
Do remember to TOSS before you ORGANIZE. Otherwise, you are organizing clutter, which serves no purpose.
      GOOD LUCK!

Cover the pool (with tarps if that's what it takes), and lay down tarps in the backyard - we harvest mulberries from our trees by laying down tarps because then the berries don't get lost in the grass, but it will make it way easier to collect the pods (I did the same sort of thing in January the night before my mom and I drove my truck home because the truck doesn't have a bed cover yet - all we had to do in the morning before we left was pull the tarp out by the corners and voila! the snow was out of the bed and the bed was completely dry, saving me 1/2-1 hour of work); stake the tarps down if it will be windy at all. There will probably still be seed pods that get in the grass, but it will be a heck of a lot less work to clean up the yard.

I am a total ladybug but my husband is a butterfly. I took your advice and defaulted to his organization style, and now our house is more organized, and he can easily put stuff away.
I prefer visual simplicity, but I must say it has really helped me. If I could have everything hidden, I would, but then I have to tell my husband constantly where stuff is. Now that we have are organized with his style in mind, he is empowered to put stuff where it belongs because he can see where it goes. Lol 😆 thanks Cas!!!!

Cas! This video is such great timing considering what project I just finished at 1am before this video released!
    OK long story time:
This past week I was cat-sitting for a neighbor. Turns out the neighbor has an entirely hoarded house (Level 4), and she’s only lived there a year and a half! I told her: “You know, one of my hobbies is decluttering and organizing. If you don’t mind me touching literally everything you own, I’d love tackling these mountains for you.”
She said oh my god yes-
So this past week I was able to fill 2 medium dumpsters of literal trash (cardboard, moldy wood, old papers, etc.), get sentimental stuff into boxes, and zone her home into: living room, office, art room, and a functional bedroom.
I just got to reveal her cleaned, organized, and decorated house to her last night when she returned and she was so happy and shocked!
And she’s a bee so I got a pegboard for her Art wall (so now she has a container for all her duplicate supplies), and everything is so beautiful and functional.
I listened to all of your videos and Dana and Dawn’s videos as I cleaned- so that was great body doubling!
I did the project for free as well because a functional home is priceless! Happy to share this exciting news with you because her life is changed for the better with the power of decluttering!

I feel the lack of storage space. In my country there are no built in closets, so you have to buy furniture. I moved two times during the last three years and didn't have a wardrobe for all this time, because the budget didn't allow to buy one. I am a cricket and it hurt my soul living out of boxes. You cannot unpack if you have nowhere to put the stuff. I finally got a wardrobe for free last month and I was so thankful. Now everything is extremly tidy as I prefer it to be.

I love things hidden but like things to be organized, I keep things I need to get rid of, some things need to be visual, I’m either super organized or a total mess, I also have lists on top of lists of things I want to accomplish but there is so much it’s overwhelming etc. I think I want to be a type A but get too overwhelmed but if I had a magic wand everything would be perfectly organized, labeled, clean lines, etc.

I defiantly have too much stuff, but as I live alone, and only go out of the house to walk my dog, due to acute anxiety, I have to pay someone if I want help, or need to get rid of stuff. I did find out that Oxfam in England will come and pick things up from my home that I am donating, so am starting with that. I love watching your videos, as you are so lovely and happy and inspirational, despite all the things you have on your plate, with your own busy life. Thank you for helping us all. And then they will all be picked up. Every seed pod you pick up this year, is a seed pod you never ever have to pick up again. (Because you'll be gone by next June)
I'm rooting for you!!! Hang in there!!! And maybe have a contest among your kids, with a prize for whoever collects the most seed pods? They might have fun helping you, and that could bring happy energy to the whole thing. (Maybe, if they're game for such a thing)

I had a "room of doom" that we just piled stuff in, when me & my husband moved into our first house. Then I got pregnant, and the junk room had to be turned into a nursery, with a deadline and all! It worked out great to get old junk we weren't using out of our house! (Mostly old used stuff from family that they didn't want anymore, to help us get started with living on our own. A lot of stuff we used and appreciated, but some of it was just too much and ended up in the room of doom 😆)

A birch tree is a blessing to your land. Birch trees are very abundant in some European areas with good energy, vital and rich nature areas full of life. Birch tree forests are considered a place of good energy and sacred by some. I am currently shopping for a house, and if I see a healthy birch tree growing on the premises, it is my sign to consider it. In United States, birch trees are dying due to a disease that entered the land from Asia. Birch trees have very low rates of survival in United States, so when you see one, or a few, that are healthy and thriving, it is your sign that it is a good place with rich and nutritious soil. Your garden will thrive if your birch tree is doing well. When Cas said she wanted to chop them down, I got a little heart attack. These trees are so precious to me

    Great episode!
I do have two thoughts about your house…
1.) You probably need to check the weather forecast prior to cleaning the yard (that would be so frustrating!)
2.) Your potential buyers will know this is Clutterbug’s house and are probably watching you talk about the negatives of your house. Not the best selling ploy.
I wish you all the best!

Oh my goodness, little one's big girl room is so beautiful! The colours and those flowers, I love love love those flowers! The family's new craftroom is also just gorgeous - ready for use and welcoming. I cannot beleive those shelves were $60 USD - that's so worthwhile an investement (if you do have the spare funds, obviously) because it made all the difference.
I have to say, that I felt this lovely lady was in an unusual position for her? I say that because I felt even her dump and junk storage rooms were more organised than most - and that Tupperware cupboard was a thing of organisational beauty 😊

Oh my - I understand messy trees. Never fails that I clean everything up and 2 hours later, crappola. True story - washed my 3 season room windows - you have to remove them to wash them. 36 windows - I just finished them. Was sparkling clean - for a whole hour. Then rain came - it wasn't in the forecast. Wiped out 4 hours of work.

I’m currently pregnant with my second baby and am in the “nesting” phase, but I’m a Bee and I’m a perfectionist. I had SO MANY places in my house that I needed to declutter and organize and clean as I get closer to my due date, but it was so overwhelming! Your channel and advice has helped so much! Now, when I see clutter in my house but I don’t feel like I have a lot of time, I still tell myself to just do a little bit, and I’m always happy I did ❤ My house is so much different in the past few months, and every organize space I walk by makes me so relieved.

Wow-I don’t know how you lived with those trees for 12 years. There are other hybrid types of trees that don’t shed that should be able to give you the same size & shape of the Birch trees. Ugh.

I feel your pain. Years ago we were renting a farmhouse out in the country, and our landlord was planning to visit from out of state. We spent hours making sure the large yard was mowed and raked and looking as good as we could make it. The night before he was to arrive a horrible wind storm came through, and in the morning the yard looked terrible. The crabapple tree had literally split in half, and there were branches and twigs everywhere!
