Another good thing to know. The canister vent valve has a very loud audible click noise when actuated. The Bypass Solenoid, not so much. After purchasing another bypass solenoid I had the same result with not hearing a click when turned on. Once I had the bypass solenoid in my hand while i turned it on, I found out it was working as I could feel it move and when getting very close I could hear it. Something good to know for someone troubleshooting this issue.

So if I had a helper to turn the ignition on while I listened I could possible hear a click?

short simple and descriptive. absolutely perfect video. subscribe. this information pertains to probably all OBD2 model Civic CRV element as well. this is a common issue but most don't realize the code will represent any malfunction of the evaporative system

I had this code on my 2003 Honda CRV, but this would be good for a civic in those years. No leaks with a smoke check. The final fix was performing Honda Service Bulletin 08-016.

I had the p1457 on Honda CR-V 2001 and i replace the purge valve and bypass solenoid valve honestly if you will buy them go get a Honda store they sell the original for the same price as autozone and other store but from dealer they are better cause it’s the similar as the car have !

My 2004 Cr-V EX sputters when I try to start it, only after i fill my fuel tank, just like your description. After it finishes sputtering, it runs fine.
But my check engine light doesn't come on. Could it be something else that won't produce an error code?
Thanks for your videos and hard work. You've been very helpful to many people and we appreciate people like you, who help us learn.

I have a 1997 Honda CRV that expels lots of gas pressure when I remove the gas cap when refueling.
This must mean the gas cap seal is good but is all that pressure bad for your fuel tank?

Can you blink? Also can you use a voltmeter to test for voltage rather than that screwdriver thing?

    Hello,
I tried to replace the canister but I am having a hard time finding the bolts that hold it to the frame, it’s got some rectangular silver covers I can’t find a way around. Any thoughts on how I can work around that?

I have this code after driving off road. It looks like the vacuum chamber shaped like a little white plastic can has come lose. I crawled under to see where it connects to but can't identify where it goes.
