I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel to Bioshock, set in Pre-War Rapture ..
I will admit, it's mainly because I want to see the rest of the city, but hey .. why not be "Average Citizen" that gets to pick between Ryan & Fontaine, or somewhere middle of the road as a double agent of sorts, working both side for better gains.
Me too, burial at sea had extreme potential for a remake based on how rapture is revisioned, the dlc looks like it had so much to explore so many new places. It just needs a biggered team to make exploration possible.
This could be a huge win for them honestly. I feel like joining in the fight for rapture and seeing how things happened could expand the lore in a better direction than adding more to it.
Yes, to see Rapture in all its glory would be so perfect ❤
If I had to pick where Bioshock 4 could take place, it would be either a city in the Desert or a city on the moon!
I just hope it's done right. Part of what makes Bioshock so captivating, is the feeling that these could be real places. And how many "Bioshock-like places" could there actually be where that relative believability can still be a thing? Rapture with Atom and plasmids was an idea that somehow actually happened through Andrew Ryan's dream of his society yada yada. How many other crazy people could have the finances, the vision, and the success of achieving such a monument like constructing an underwater city/society? Then with Infinite.. again.. what are the chances something like that could exist again? If it were to, then it seems even less like a real place than it already does (since it's a video game after all and we know these aren't real places lol). I'm blabbing, but I think I've made my point.
Regardless- another Bioshock title is exciting. Meanwhile, I bought my brother the trilogy for his birthday 4 months ago and he's barely played enough to get out of medical -_-.
I'd like to see the Lutece twins come back as squabbling children. Having messed with quantum physics far too much and are going back in time.
Would like another big daddy like character. Really loved playing as subject delta. Maybe even new types as well
The fact it is taking so long is a good sign. They want to do this right.

I'm more or less just getting the feeling that it's stuck in development hell. I'm just gonna assume it'll be canceled at some point. I'd love to be wrong about that though.
I’m very interested with the multiple plot paths for the next Bioshock. If we get a new location for the game I think it would be fantastic to pick the outcome of what happens to the world around us. It could be a very fun game to replay and change things around to see what our actions do to the story!
If we ever get to 5, a decedent of a Rapture-based character returning and restoring parts of Rapture.... that might be pretty fun. Maybe play as Jack again stopping a previously unknown sibling? Generational bonds and trauma as themes?
I'd dig it. Not in 4, because it's just too soon after Burial at Sea, but 5 would work!
5 should just be about rapture at its height and progressing through its downfall

I hope they bring back the weapon wheel and plasmids. I wasn’t really a fan of infinite. Multiplayer would be a nice addition as well, played that so much as a kid when it came out. Pretty exciting stuff!

Ever heard of the Biosphere 2 experiment? I believe a similar premise on a larger scale could serve the story well, well, that or taking the story deep underground, maybe both. Look it up if you're interested.

I said this long ago. They drop the ball and aren’t admitting it. I do t think bioshock 4 going to be a thing. It the Left 4 dead 3 thing. They say they got plans and then still nothing. At this point I gave up. They just don’t want to admit they fail and trying to keep thier job and 2K embarrassed of having cloud studio. Until we see an official 100 proof of bioshock 4. The game is a fairy tail that will never happen.
I'd prefer a new location just for the fact that Rapture and Columbia have already told everything they could tell, Columbia could have tell more with cut content, but now is too late for that. The most important thing is to not redo the same mistake of Columbia with the new city. About previosu games, i think they could link the stories with some sentences, some easter egg, something linked with bioshock 2 too, just to give more glory to that game, it deserves it. I don't know if a total reboot would work, honestly.

The first bioshock got me hooked on water in game worlds. Horizon FW has amazing water, I’d like to see the new bioshock have a water theme again.. not necessarily rapture but I’d love to see a new generational push with water graphics/physics.
I heard that the story has been completely rewritten multiple times, so who knows.
Having said that, I’d like to share my concept for a Bioshock 4 here, if you’ll indulge me.
The game would be divided into two acts. Act 1 would take place in Rapture, while Act 2 takes place in Columbia.
The player assumes the role of a CIA agent by the name of John Lackley. This good-natured yet haunted man has just returned from a assignment in South Vietnam, and is looking towards some peace and quiet. That is until a pair of odd twins at headquarters hand him his next assignment.
In this universe, the US government has discovered both cities due to the sheer amount of debris flouting UP from Rapture and falling DOWN from Columbia. Since Columbia was stolen from the US by Comstock, and Rapture was technically one of Ryan’s assets that were frozen by the government, the US claimed both cities belonged to them.
The story follows Lackley as he and a handful of soldiers (SEALS for Rapture, Paratroopers for Columbia) are sent in to secure the cities. Over the course of the game, Lackley fights crazed Splicers, bloodthirsty Vox Populi, Soviet KGB agents and his own moral compass as he tears through the wrecked utopias.
The game would have two endings: the First Ending, where he destroys both cities to prevent the government from gaining control over them as he fears what horrors would be unleashed upon the world. He is promptly fired and history progresses as normal, for better or for worse.
In the Second Ending, he secures both cities and returns home a hero. Armed with the power of Plasmids/Vigors and a flying sky-fortress, The USA wins The Vietnam War and even goes on to crush China, as they had tried to intervene like they did in Korea. For better or for worse, the two cities have brought untold power to their masters, and the world will never be the same.
Whichever ending is the Good/Bad one is left to the player and their own morals, as is weather or not the world would avoid the genetic hedonism of the two cities, or weather the Human Condition demands mankind repeats its mistakes.
I was going to include a incredibly slow-burn “romance” subplot between Lackley and a slightly-less-feral-than-normal Big Sister, but stuff like that should stay on Wattpad where it belongs.

If they continue the multiversal thing they could just put levels with transitions to Rapture to Columbia, however Andrew Ryan always thought someone from the surfice would eventualy dive and plunder his City, maybe a game that we start as a pirate going to do that would be interesting
I would love a new location and with a multiverse aspect which is linked into the previous games like with Bio shock infantile.
I just download the BioShock Collection on the Switch! Super stoked to replay the entire franchise on a handheld!
I want the game oops leaks leaked two different cities its set in Alaska and you play as Eleanor lamb. Or we can go back in time and save rapture from falling.
I think the safest bet is to go the Bioshock 2 approach. I remember I enjoyed Bioshock 2 for the souped-up gameplay, more than the story. There were enough references to make it feel at home but enough distance to keep it fresh and avoid a tangled plot mess.
I think Bioshock has a strong enough legacy at this point that derivative games like Atomic Heart or Prey draw immediate comparisons. This being the case, the Infinite approach feels weaker, because there are so many derivative works. It'll be hard for 4 to stand out, now that so many games have taken inspiration unless the setting focuses on Rapture or they (by some very slim chance) hit a slam-dunk with some new direction for the series.
I really really hope this is finally the year we see something I am so eager to hear from the new Bioshock game.
I still play Bioshock 3 up to today. It's the only game I keep playing repetitively...i like Elizabeth alot
First and second game were absolutely beautiful masterpieces! Third game not so much only thing I thought was neat of Infinite was the Songbird however really didn’t carry the same feeling as first 2.

Ya know, going back and playing through all 3 and tropgy hunting, it pains me seeing the burial at sea rapture and what rapture could have looked like in the first bioshock if the tech was there
I’m hoping that private companies keep pushing underwater construction. I honestly think it’s our only hope of survival on this planet. We could also build underground. Fallout style 😅

All i know for sure is that for me to play Bioshock 4, they have to keep the same feel any style (underwater city, crumbleing dystopia and 1920's 1960s but i like the idea of a new city..maybe a sister city and somhow still connecting in Some way with Elizabeth and the floating city.... i. The extra content.. they had her fo into Rapture
I like to the multiverse idea, but i dont know if i would like open world, ive thought about it, and at first, i was game, but now i feel it would be overwhelming...
It'd odd but there was Bioshock Infinite, Wolfenstein Old Blood, Doom 2016, and Prey and not much else in the last decade that makes me say OOOH - I need a new video card. Sure you could say Cyberpunk has great graphics - but the game didn't blow much wind up my skirt. I'd love to see some amazing graphics in a game that makes me say I need a new video card. Crysis was always pushing me to get a new video card. Sadly my 3080 wasn't purchased because of any game but Chief Architect. I'd love a great Bioshock game that makes me say - is it time to get a 5080?

While many players want to go beck to Rapture, in general the developers do NOT. The devs for BS2 wanted to make their own City but were unable too. Rapture is a dead end story wise. Columbia (ALL of them) were wiped out so no going back there. In general the story for BS characters is done with the exception of Booker and Anna. While they may have a story, it shouldn't be another BioShock City unless it's them trying to get out and are not the focus of the City. sm
I'm pretty sure there's still one Columbia left.

@TheKeKApex Yea, personally I'd rather stay in Rapture than have a new city. If Infinite didn't loop back to Rapture towards the end and again in the dlc then I probably would not have liked it as much.
Hopefully they dont screw it up like infinite. They dumbed down that game immensely for the current grn consoles at the time. Definitely not as advertised. Those ewrly trailers and gameplay were amazing

This had nothing to do with the consoles at the time, but because Levine probably thought it would look too much like the Civil War in Rapture. That's why I suspect it was changed so much.

Me too. We partially get to see it in Bio2 Multiplayer, but I'd LOVE a story mode version of it.
Isn’t that the first one? Things got so bad partially because of Fontain and Ryan trying to get/keep control of the city. MC of first bioshock was you unwillingly working for Fontain to get rid of Ryan.

As long as Ken isn't involved, it'll be great. Haters gonna hate, but I liked Bioshock 2 the best. Infinite....major disappointment. 1st one was great but I feel the second one was better IMHO.
Bio shock 2 was a masterpiece….. bio shock infinite very forgettable it deviated from what we know bioshock to be had some fun with it but not much it actually took me like 7-8 years to finish it 😂 I bought the game used back in late 2013 or sometime in 2014 played some of it didn’t like it so it was on the shelf for years then I think around 2019-2020 I came back to it and had fun but it just wasn’t Bioshock to me tho …I hated all the old fashioned guns and lack of enemy diversity from what i remember thee was a lot of same kind of enemies could be wrong my memory for the that game is terrible honestly lol ….but it was good to play somewhat of a bioshock game I hope they go back to the environments and themes of 2 … and or explore both the underwater city and above which I’m sure they’ll do with these big open world games being so trendy that would be so sick!!! Having more to do with more customization and even more skill trees But keeping the dark tone aswell

i don't want a bioshock 4, i think it's a more smarter choice to release the source code for all three Bioshock games. that way, they can please both the Hardcore simmers and the Casuals. The Hardcore fans will make a game true to it's bioshock roots, while the casuals can make a Bioshock Halo game with more Halo mechanics similar to bioshock Infinite. Smartest thing they'll ever did to please all fans of all three games.

@@eobardthawne324 the problem is, two sides of the fanbase want completely different bioshocks. Infinite strayed too far from the formula. It's doomed. 2k should just make an SDK and let Fans make their own Bioshock games. That way everyone wins.

I'm sorry but I still miss rapture. I think wen infinite dropped some of us didn't except it cause we didn't get a trilogy of rapture to scratch the rapture itch. I agree part one is my favorite but two was still good. Now replaying infinite I will say the game is great, the pacing and so on but I'm notta fan of the multi verse. Also it's just creepy and annoying with the whole Jehovah's witness back woods protestant vibe or actual topic. Im also notta fan of endings that r major brain twisters only cause they usually do not equate to anything likable? I do like this game big time but politically do not wanna relive it? If that makes sense. Mr Levin likes this weird ideology and as a Jewish person I think he should leave Christianity alone and I mean this in a sincere way. It's basically a negative enslaving wrapped theme threw out the series to b honest. Lastly the points of view can b taken in ways that may b wrong towards history and wut not to some players. Maybe I'm reading into this to much and it's just a fiction of sorts. Either way yes i want a part 4 big time. Hopefully 2k if they still exist or who ever produces the new game will read, take into consideration of all these topics, probably not...
Just finished the Bioshock series again and was really looking forward to this. WAS. I just found out sweet baby might be involved so it will be a woke mess that I wont be going near if they are.

Maybe development issues have to do with the story itself.
Since Infinite shows a lot of modern controversy, Bioshock 4 might also do that but can’t recycle anything. Perhaps they’re stuck on the part of modern problems?
