Deep Purple is one of the Grandfathers of Heavy Metal! Got to see them live on their "Perfect Strangers" reunion tour, all original members. For along time they were in Guinness` Book of world records as the loudest band on earth!
This song was written in 10 minutes in the back of the tour bus on the way to a gig. upon arriving at the venue they perfected the song during sound check and performed it that night live. That's what you call real musicianship. Sadly missed today.
I instantly recognized the sound, this is from live in Japan. Awesome live album. Don’t play this song while driving Rebeka, you’ll get many speeding tickets.
Just sheer brilliant musicianship right through the band........ unlike the manufactured vacuous garbage we have now. Sadly I fear we will never see their like again (bands of this era).
And Highway Star was their opening number for many years. "The audience is awake, now!" LOL. Like a sledgehammer. Loved your reaction, was exactly what I wanted to see ;) Thanks!
The thing that shocked me the most , is they have one of the greatest guitarists in the world, and during his amazing solo the camera was on everyone else ! Who hired that guy?
This performance on the album Made In Japan is brutal and beautiful at the same time. It is very macho and in a pub which played it often I observed pretty female reactions to it and many times this proved too strong for them. It is testament to you that you have done very well to accommodate this strong glass of whiskey Rebeka! At 1.29 where Ritchie comes in with that screeching intro is the personification of freedom and I often hear it stood at airport ques and other stressful situations. One of the best heavy rock performances ever and nice one!
I saw them three times with the original line up and Gillan always used to finish the live version with 'Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Richie Blackmore'. :)
I love seeing people react to "my music', by my music I mean the music that was the sound track for my life. The first time I heard this song I was doing about 110 on a remote road in my friends 57 tricked out Chevy. I don't know what was causing the most rattling the car or the speakers turned up to 10.

Saludos

One of my favs. I loved Deep Purple during this period. I can't begin to describe the parting that we did to this album. Good job Rebeka. You have excellent rock taste.
Your reaction to this was so cute, your facial expression is like, you can't believe anyone is this F ing good. It's adorable, as a teenager listening to this growing up Deep Purple was the band sound everyone wanted to be. Space Truckin was one of our favorite songs, they had quite a few great songs at the time, but Space Truckin for some reason was their break out smash hit everyone liked.
Great song! I was a 70’s kid. We didn’t know how good we had it. So much great music! I checked out your reactions to Elton John yesterday. You really should really check out Elton John Live in Central Park from 1980. It was iconic, musically magnificent and just really fun. The music, the costume changes - at one point he came out on stage dressed as Donald Duck - are worth it. Oh yeah - and I was there. It was my first live concert. I might be a little prejudiced 😄
From one 70's child to another, I lived for Machine Head and HIGHWAY STAR! Huh, and I saw Elton John in concert in the 70's with Steely Dan as the front band. What a time, yeah?
That feeling creeping in your arms, and chest; thats how the shake in rock dancing happened. To shake it off and not get overwhelmed. Even little kids would lose it, like jelly beans. Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmoore put out power chords like no other! 😆 The songs about the feeling of being in control of powerful emotions that take you. Like driving a beast, or the moment you realise you are in love, not just obssessing or infatuated. Its like an electric connection, you suddenly realise some woman plugged-in.
Great choice, Rebeke! One of my favourites of all time! Still going strong nearly 50 years after its release and covered by an untold number of artists.
About 30 years ago (when I was 8), my parents visited a friend of theirs who had this double LP (Deep Purple - Made in japan). I used to ask him to plug the headphones and let me listen to the record. Adults were hanging out and I was the happiest child on earth. Great performances. All of the songs. As a matter of fact latter as a teenager when I 'discovered' the studio versions of Highway star - child in time - smoke on the water - strange kind of woman etc I remember being very disappointed of how bad they sound compared to "made in japan" versions.
Do not, I repeat do not drink that whole cup of coffee and get into your car, head out to the highway and blast this song on the stereo. Traffic tickets are expensive.
Ah, you have found my favorite version of my favorite song. I saw an interview with the drummer Ian Paice where he was asked, " why do you play all those solos and do all that improvisation and all that screaming?" And his answer was, "because we can." That is Deep Purple in a nutshell, they can do what other bands could never do.
You are absolutely right they call it the second version I don't know why. It should be called the first version. I think whoever posted the video thinks it's the second version.
@@BunnEFartz Yes Ian Gillian looked like he was having a lot of fun on that one. I've been a Purple fan for years. Saw them in concert in 1972 Machine Head tour. That got me hooked on them
Hi, your face on Blackmore's solo - says EVERYTHING - just as I was amazed the first time I heard the record - Made in Japan ;-) the good old days - no cell phones in the audience, no distraction - just the pure handmade music 🤟 Greetings from Germany .. stay healthy ...
Great tune, don’t know what happened to the camera man, forgot about Ritchie Blackmore’s solo, there’s another live video where you can see him doing the long guitar solo and I think they’re even playing faster yet !
Deep Purple is another one of those bands growing up with in the 70's man. Great era, great music and still lots of hippies around in gatherings partying in fields, in the woods camped out and digging life. I miss those days it was much better times...✌️
I have to thank my father. When i was 16 he tell me about Deep purple, Led zeppelin...and the others i fond by myself. In early 2000 i run in father's car with the "Made in Japan" lp, high volume and headbanging with that and another songs. Real music! I swear, if u listen that song when u're driving it's quite sure u push too much.
Something else along these lines (that no doubt caused a speeding ticket or two) that you may want to consider reacting to is "Highway Song" by Blackfoot. Great reaction to a great tune, BTW!
Immediately I can tell you the audio is from Made in Japan (probably the greatest live album) and the video is from Copenhagen 1972. Great reaction. Top 3 Deep Purple songs is a tough call... 1. Child in Time. 2. Lazy. 3. insert any one from many other songs here.....

I grew up with Deep Purple. Have all their records so you know what I think of them :). I have to agree with you regarding heavy metal but this band and a few others in the 60', early 70's I really like. Not a fan of the newer ones. I'm really into Symphonic Metal now, like Nightwish. Thx Rebeka, great reaction!
Good track... one I haven't appreciated before. My favorite Deep Purple creation is their Concerto for Group and Orchestra. It's too long for a reaction but if you are into Progressive Rock (as your love for Floyd suggests), check out this unusual album by Deep Purple with a full orchestra.
Officer pulls you over. "You were driving a tiny bit fast there, sir. 110 mph I think?"... Me : "I'm sorry officer... I was listening to Highway Star by Deep Purple"... Officer: "Oh OK then. I understand completely! Have a nice day, sir!"... Officer leaves.
Nice reaction to this. If you want a cool driving song that is also a powerful in your face rocker you should check out Flirting with disaster by Molly Hatchet. The studio version is great, as I have not found a live version that sounds nearly as good. As with Highway star, it can get you a speeding ticket if you listen to it as you are on the road.
Great musicians making great music. That's why those of us who grew up back then think that today's fake, manufactured, simplistic, auto-tuned music is horrible.
It's great to see you again, Becks. You gave me a nice birthday present. And the song? Well, they're the Godfathers of Heavy Metal. They were my first live concert ever back in 2000 (I was 12). My Deep Purple TOP 3 is: 1) Smoke On The Water 2) Woman From Tokyo 3) Pictures Of Home ¡ ¡ ¡ GOOD JOB ! ! !
Beka, You will love this band!!!! They used the organ a lot. I think it is a Hammond! You are the expert... It is a great sound!!! Why are you not playing your air=organ?????? I saw you playing your air-guitar and air-drums. Rock and roll lady......... Have you reviewed Smoke on the Water or My Woman from Tokyo??? Check them out............
1976...on my fifth birthday in May my mom bought me Rainbow--Rising just cos The album looked cool she has said but WOW.. WHAT AN ALBUM IT IS. Still have that vinyl record today. Very recomendable indeed.
That is an odd compilation. The bit with Ritchie's lead has, in this video, been replaced with a version I have not heard before (and I have heard a lot) and is very toned down. The rest of the sound track is from Made in Japan, but the visuals of the film is from the Scandinavian concert.
Top 3 Deep Purple songs: 1 - Hard Lovin' Man 2 - No One Came 3 - Child In Time. This era of the band from 1970 - 1973 was the best, so many good songs!
I've said it before and I'll say it again being a teenager in the seventies we had the best music!

Growing up in 70's was music golden age
The sole called bands of today can't hold a candle to this epic classic or any of the great rock of the 70's
Yes3.the loudest band in this world of all times.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
DP was a shock back in those days...and nowadays even more. master musicians do not depend on time or places.
Hi, your face on Blackmore's solo - says EVERYTHING - just as I was amazed the first time I heard the record - Made in Japan ;-) the good old days - no cell phones in the audience, no distraction - just the pure handmade music 🤟
Greetings from Germany .. stay healthy ...
Another excellent selection. I hadn't heard that in a long time. Thank you. Great show.
Great tune, don’t know what happened to the camera man, forgot about Ritchie Blackmore’s solo, there’s another live video where you can see him doing the long guitar solo and I think they’re even playing faster yet !
Simply Beautiful
One of my favourite bands off all time, Absolutely love this banging track, It's a great driving song as well as Space Truckin.
Deep Purple is another one of those bands growing up with in the 70's man. Great era, great music and still lots of hippies around in gatherings partying in fields, in the woods camped out and digging life. I miss those days it was much better times...✌️
So much power, so much energy. Halleluja, that was good 🤘
My favorite deep song. Seen them 2 times 1985. Dallas TX. Rock on
Prefect Strangers
Highway Star
Child In Time
✌☮💯🤘
If you keep listening to this kind of music, you WILL love metal music. (It doesn't have to be heavy............)
For sure we had the best music in the 70s
Something else along these lines (that no doubt caused a speeding ticket or two) that you may want to consider reacting to is "Highway Song" by Blackfoot. Great reaction to a great tune, BTW!
Deep Purple. One of best lyrics bands
See and hear Child in Time. 1970. No words.
Really best song. Thanks girl
Great Music= thank you from portugal
Immediately I can tell you the audio is from Made in Japan (probably the greatest live album) and the video is from Copenhagen 1972. Great reaction. Top 3 Deep Purple songs is a tough call... 1. Child in Time. 2. Lazy. 3. insert any one from many other songs here.....
Best comment
Hello Miss Rebeka !!! SEASONS GREETINGS & Happy Holidays !!! 😄
I Always Enjoy your Reactions !!!
Yet For song of the Day I would Send you this song by the Scorpions ( Still Loving You ) Hope you Enjoy !!! Note I Did Enjoy you child in time reaction As well & left A comment ! 😄
I grew up with Deep Purple. Have all their records so you know what I think of them :). I have to agree with you regarding heavy metal but this band and a few others in the 60', early 70's I really like. Not a fan of the newer ones. I'm really into Symphonic Metal now, like Nightwish. Thx Rebeka, great reaction!
... deep purple...
That was an interesting reaction , you had a look on your face like you didn't know people could jam that hard , amazing , aren't they ?????????
Good track... one I haven't appreciated before. My favorite Deep Purple creation is their Concerto for Group and Orchestra. It's too long for a reaction but if you are into Progressive Rock (as your love for Floyd suggests), check out this unusual album by Deep Purple with a full orchestra.
A classic masterpiece from Deep Purple...I have been listening to this beautiful classic masterpiece from the last 45 years.
Highway Star is the ultimate Purple song
Nice reaction to this. If you want a cool driving song that is also a powerful in your face rocker you should check out Flirting with disaster by Molly Hatchet. The studio version is great, as I have not found a live version that sounds nearly as good. As with Highway star, it can get you a speeding ticket if you listen to it as you are on the road.
Thank you.😊🙏🏼
Great musicians making great music. That's why those of us who grew up back then think that today's fake, manufactured, simplistic, auto-tuned music is horrible.
This high quality audio is from made in Japan live 1973, but no video exists, some clever guy has mixed the video from a show in Denmark to the sound.
He's talking about his bird!
It's great to see you again, Becks. You gave me a nice birthday present.
And the song? Well, they're the Godfathers of Heavy Metal. They were my first live concert ever back in 2000 (I was 12).
My Deep Purple TOP 3 is:
1) Smoke On The Water
2) Woman From Tokyo
3) Pictures Of Home
¡ ¡ ¡ GOOD JOB ! ! !
Thank you🙏🏼😊
@@rebekaluizebudlevskamusic You're truly welcome, as always
That is how I reacted first time i heard this at 13 in 1972
Beka,
You will love this band!!!!
AWESOME Again..I saw those goose bumps in your body language..check out in to fire live 1971.
Thank you.🙏🏼😊
my favourite guitarists from the 70's, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple & Rainbow) & Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits)
I was 17 when this came out, listening to this song while driving a muscle car and turning gasoline into pure noise and speed.
I am soooooo old that I bought the Machine Head album when it eas released in 1972
1976...on my fifth birthday in May my mom bought me Rainbow--Rising just cos The album looked cool she has said but WOW.. WHAT AN ALBUM IT IS.
Still have that vinyl record today. Very recomendable indeed.
The speeding tickets are real!
That is an odd compilation. The bit with Ritchie's lead has, in this video, been replaced with a version I have not heard before (and I have heard a lot) and is very toned down. The rest of the sound track is from Made in Japan, but the visuals of the film is from the Scandinavian concert.
My favorite DP songs would include’Burn’, ‘Woman From Tokyo’ and ‘Lazy’
My favorite song
Top 3 Deep Purple songs: 1 - Hard Lovin' Man 2 - No One Came 3 - Child In Time.
This era of the band from 1970 - 1973 was the best, so many good songs!
