    It would be great if the MassDOT would paint a rebuilt F40PH-3C in a blue MassDOT paint scheme. I've seen them paint a non-rebuilt F40PH-2C in a blue MassDOT paint scheme.

      They won’t be painting anymore units into massDOT. 1137 and 1125 were 1056 and 1062’s replacements for massDOT. Moving forward, all geep and 3C rebuilds will receive mbta phase 3. (With the exception of heritage units if that ever happens 😒)

    It’s ironic that the 2C’s are going extinct before the screamers do. (Barley, 1013 and 1008 are literally just shells now that their prime movers were recently removed)

    seeing the common trains (2c) become rare and the rare trains (3c) become common was pretty crazy

    I’ll soon have a custom N scale model of an MBTA F40PH-2C in my collection. And NJ manufacture Atlas is coming out with N scale MBTA Bi Level cars. It’ll be cool having some bygone N scale history. And I’m sure soon any model train manufacturer will model the F40PH-3C and MP36-3C as well.

    Thanks for posting this video. Like you, I will miss the F40PH-2Cs a great deal. They looked and sounded terrific. Also, my first cab ride was in an F40PH-2C. That was all the way back in 2006, when the F40PH-2Cs had been out for just a few years.

    I grew up with these f40phs and I witnessed times change on the commuter rail like the 2c was the first engine I saw when i went railfanning when I was only 6 years old and wherever I was on the commuter rail or CAPEFLYER I saw an F402c but then the 2Cs started to stop appearing often and I only saw a few GP40MCs and hsp46s and occasionally F40 rebuilds so I really appreciate seeing footage of my childhood memories again I’m 13 but I’ve never forgotten these engines

    What is being changed in the rebuild?

    • @BostonByRails
      @BostonByRails  Год назад +1

      Engine, horn, bell, HEP, basically everything. I think the most noticable thing to everyone is that their painted in the new HSP46 esque paint scheme.

      @@BostonByRails What kind of engine and head-end power are they getting?
      Horn and bell? They better not be getting fake horns and bells like those awful things they put on the rebuilt Mattapan High-Speed Line cars . . . .

    • @BostonByRails
      @BostonByRails  Год назад +2

      Engine and head end power i dont know the names. They have E bells and k5la horns with restrictors. Every F40 on MBTA property is one of the revuily locomotives im talking about, the video is just about the last 2 who were sent for rebuilt

      @@BostonByRails E-bells? I cannot understand why bad imitations of bells are suddenly the In Thing . . . .

    • @BostonByRails
      @BostonByRails  Год назад +1

      I know right! Its crazy how ebells are EVERYWHERE in the countey now, but it all boils down to being cheaper and simpler. I mean if you were a railroad, would you rather deal with a real bell which is a complicated contraption with flaws, or a giant speaker that plays an electronic bell noose
