    Grass growing on the tracks? Perhaps railroad corporations are more eco-friendly than I once thought.

    What's the track speed for passenger trains in this part of Canada?
    I do know that outside America's high speed corridors on the East Coast, some lines in the midwest, and some lines in California, and some other places, the typical track speed is only 80 MPH (it's actually 79 but trains do go a little over 80, but only at like 83 tops) at top speed for passenger trains.
    Those trains really do fly.

      @100m.p.h.  8 месяцев назад

      Track speed in this part of Canada (Quebec City-Windsor corridor) tops out at 100mph. They really move. Of course outside of Canada there is much faster than that.

    Some of the air horns on these VIA locos are useless. I've been at crossings where they're barely audible.

    • @100m.p.h.
      @100m.p.h.  8 месяцев назад

      I think the horns get fouled with dirt and debris and need to be cleaned but that would be with horns on all locos

    2:32 is that VIA 84 at Norval??

    Where was the 2nd scene shot?

    • @100m.p.h.
      @100m.p.h.  Год назад +1

      The second scene is at Newtonville at the end of Nichols Road. There used to be wooden bridges that crossed over the CP Belleville Sub as well as the CN Kingston Sub. Both bridges are now gone with no access to this location. The CN bridge was struck by a dimensional load on a freight train and the CP bridge was dismantled. If I was to guess it needed repairs and it was also a bridge to nowhere (aside from usage by railfans)

    @ 1:30 is that P42 a DPU

    • @100m.p.h.
      @100m.p.h.  9 месяцев назад +1

      They look like a DPU but the are actually MU'd or multiple unit. Same as if you had 2 locomotives hooked together on a freight train at the front. VIA has a cableling system that runs through all the LRC coaches (kinda like an extension cord) this allows them to hook up additional locomotives and or additional train sets.

    They should’ve never replaced the P42 horns. The current ones sounds awful

    • @MikeSOR
      @MikeSOR Год назад +2

      I agree with you, they shouldn’t have replaced them, but I don’t think the current P42 horns (K5CA-LS) sound too bad. I decently like them.

    How can ya'll go so fast around the tracks like that without derailing, here in NYC the metro north derails if it goes at that speed

    • @100m.p.h.
      @100m.p.h.  Год назад +1

      I guess the track speed is better up north? 🤣

    • @jiovaniloncarevic
      @jiovaniloncarevic Год назад +1

      MTA has extreme turns that need to be rounded off, and wooden ties replaced with concrete. Metro North is not as bad which is why they do 82mph in some places.
