Enough, Enough, You've convinced me. I'm getting one today. My dewalt I've had 15 years now just kicked the bucket and I was looking at this one.
It's been a good saw so far.
For $130, cordless and brushless I don't think it has much competition ATM.
Surprisingly fast cutting saw. Come back in a year and lets see how it is holding up. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
I mean, it does come with a 5 year warranty, so you know it will last at least 5 years.
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswin Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with HF rolling out all of these new brushless tools with a RIDICULOUSLY awesome warranty! They're already great about returns for me, even telling me that even if nothing is wrong with the tool, bring it back and get a new one before the warranty expires. Not sure if I'm proud or ashamed of the fact that the employees at my local HF know me by name. lol
Haven't subscribed at this second... but I'll jump to your site and see if I am intrigued. For now, thank you! You have articulated with aplomb and with clarity... great job. And, just for druthers, I did buy the stand for this saw but have not used it yet... not installed it. The other thing is that I do not weld so wood will be my target type of material. Again, thanks for a great video.
Blade seems faster that than similar corded models. Total game changer for Thieves and Vandals across the country. This combined with a cordless grinder and cutoff wheel will bring a whole new level of access for criminals.
Well, if you catch them, you won't need a cord to cut body parts off of them though...
@@BKD70 I shall not disagree with you sir
After numerous of research, I decided my collection would be Hercules. My brother has their Milwuakee tools and I am not a type of person who uses like the rest do but since all the projects that I do is only DIY projects I went to them and give it a try, I do not think I made the wrong decision. I already bought the 20v Impact Driver and in love with it.
I tend to be a tool snob myself, but I think you make a good choice too. My boss has a Milwaukee cordless band saw similar to this, and I HATE the dual safety triggers on it. You have to engage the front and rear safety switches on it in the right order or it won't turn on. Dumb thing seems to shut down if you don't use it for a few minutes after inserting the battery, and you have to take the battery out and in again to reset it. IDK if that's another feature it's broke somehow, but for over $300 for those things, I'd expect something better.
Great review and i am thinking of purchasing the band saw. How long would a 5v battery last cutting the railroad track as shown in this video, e.g. how many cuts? Thanks.
Very nice review, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Cool video brother. I pulled the trigger and got me their holiday special. a pair of 5ah batteries, the fast charger, the tool and a blade. All for a ridiculously awesome price of $225. Thats not even enough to buy a tool only Milwaukee 😂😂😂
That's awesome
👍🏻👍🏻 Great job Bob
Thanks!
Great job on the review. 👍🏻😎
Thanks! 👍
I for sure thought it was going to bog down, I'm glad it didnt. I'm going to be picking one up this weekend during the sale.
Get the 14 and 18 tpi blades they work better and last more since they cut harder stuff
Thanks for watching!
Just got one of these for free after buying 2 batteries. Crazy good Black Friday haul
I doubt it
Looks like a really nice saw.
What sort of battery life did you get? How much juice was left in that thing when you were done?
It's really weird that the cordless model doesn't come with a case, unlike the 11 amp corded Hercules band saw...When the cordless version is the one that's more likely to travel.
I thought the exact same thing
Hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it.
@@MakingStuff Maybe the thought was that the corded model is more likely to get stored until needed? I don't know...nothing makes sense anymore...
@@BigBear--"nothing makes sense anymore..." that's the truth!
A case would have definitely been nice.
Great video,,but what kind off rr track is that ? It looks way small to what I'm usually see .but awesome review of the saw,I bought the corded one
Great video!
Question: you don’t need any lubricants during the cuts?
It would help IMO, but isn't super necessary all the time. I would say just for tougher metals like stainless steel which doesn't dissipate heat well and keeps more heat on the blade.
Lot of it depends upon what kind of blade you use
That saw looks sweet. If you don't want to use the hercules batteries, you can get adapters for dewalt, milwaukee, skil, ridgid and a few others. Any if the 18v nominal batteries will work. (DeWalt 20v is 18v nominal in other countries, their batteries say 18v). I'm going to use my 25% off no exclusions on this. Thanks for the review
There's is no adapter from any battery to hercules, plenty of hercules to every other battery platform though
Hercules batteries actually have quality cells in them anyway.
Really?
How??? I just got the corded one and the blades dulled immediately trying to cut a piece of damascus im forging thats 1" by 3/8 thick.
Which tpi dud you use (blade) l?
thanks good video
Thanks for watching!
Hercules has a table at harbor freight for pota band saw horizontal and vertical both for 99.99
Yeah, I would check it out if I hadn't made one of my own years ago.
18 TPI is for thin metal.
Also, get some blade wax lubricant.
Impressive all around.
Thanks for watching!
What surprised me the most is you used a herc saw blade. I didnt expect that to work at all. Old notions about HF quality need revised i guess...
What kind of blue blower is this on the top right corner?
I wanted to test this myself and loved the results. Pro tip, buy your own rail. BNSF has jailed me and I'm sending this from the hole.
Trust me, the rail is legit. Thanks for watching!
Just got one from santa this Christmas morning. I told my wife about it and was dropping hints for awhile but in the end my girlfriend was the one who had it under her tree and she only saw me looking at it once for like 30sec at the store. I’m trying to figure out how to get the blade in I just opened it up
Thanks for watching!
What speed was it set at to cut the railroad track?
Full speed.
How does this fit on their Portable bandsaw stand?
Haven't tried it yet.
@@MakingStuff Project Farm hasn't done any reviews on these portaband saw blades yet.
I don’t think that blade will hold up long without using some cutting oil
The saw is on sale at harbor frieght for 169.00. How much is the battery and blades?
More than you can afford pal, Ferrari.
I'm just tired of buying into battery platforms and wondering if this will just be like my earthquake polisher that they no longer support so until I can find an adapter to use my red batteries...i guess I will just keep dragging out the cord for my yellow one
I hear you on that. That's one reason I have stuck mainly with Dewalt over the years. Years ago, I had a bunch of Craftsman tools and they just stopped making batteries for them. HF seems to have up'd their game here over the past couple years. I'm hoping they get the big picture and do the same as Dewalt.
I've been on the Hercules platform now since 2018... it's now almost 2024... that's 6 years now, and a fairly extensive lineup of battery tools.... what do you think?
Why aren't you using any oil or water while cutting?
I'm betting because it's portable and people will often be using them to cut dry on job sites or projects where it's impractical because of where, what and how many you will be cutting.
Bandsaw is meant to cut metal dry
@@evanfrucht agreed but that's also because they're cheap. A higher end unit with wet cutting will perform better and it's left up to us if we will add a method for wet cutting with these.
Oiling materials beforehand helps, but it also increases the conflict risk of accumulating debris in the cutting path and on the blade if the system does not flow and remove the material aside from lubricating it.
Torture testing?
Does the saw come with a blade?
No
Obviously you didn't watch the video...
😂@@BKD70.
3months later, how is it holding up?
Awesome, used it today to cut some aluminum.
Didn't know you could get sawdust from metal
why wouldn't it be dust?
Grammer-nazi much?
Saw dust . Could be metal dust could be wood dust. Most of us are accustomed to sawdust meaning wood but I can think of several
It is strictly forbidden to steal steel railroad tracks !!!
Who said I stole it?
What do you mean??? I thought it was strictly forbidden to steal ANYTHING!!!
@@BKD70😂 this people.
Why act like you are just going to find out how the saw will handle the items, when its easy to see you had already made the cuts before filming the live ones, especially the RR track, just obvious it had just been cut. It was easy to tell because all the metal shavings, (not saw dust) all over the base. Was it to make sure the saw could handle it, before you went as far as to film it, just in case it failed so you could forego that test? Seems suspect to me, I smell something fishy.
That piece of rail has been used in multiple saw videos and has been cut plenty of times in the past year. There is metal saw dust all over the vise because I use it all the time. This is not a sponsored video, so there really isn't a reason to be suspicious.
