I purchased the same setup a few months ago. I was extremely impressed by the stand. A lot of thought went into the design. Not every Harbor Freight tool has worked as expected, however this is an exception. Well worth the investment.
Good Job - Thanks for sharing the video. i just bought the same stand from Harbor Freight and will be hooking up my WEN band saw. Your info made it even easier to understand the directions. Have a great day!
I love mine. Use it vertically most of the time. Was interesting watching your video and thanks for presetting/practicing so as not to pain us all the adjustments because of the abysmal assembly instruction! Nice Vid dude...
I really appreciate your instruction. They were out of the saws when I went to buy one today. One thing that I noticed is in the vertical position, I don’t see a miter gauge position or a miter.
I'm waiting for them to come out with a second gen version, or for SWAG to do a better one. Needs miter slots on the table, adaptor plates that attach to the saw and fit in to adjustable slots on the rig so adjustments can be locked in and the saw removed and replaced without going back through alignment and setup, and the gas strut should be replaced with an adjustable hydraulic or pneumatic downfeed speed adjuster, or offer one as an upgrade.
Does anyone have tips on how to keep the saw from veering off to the left during a horizontal cut? I got the hercules saw & stand assembled and squared up, but under the pressure of a horizontal cut, the blade drifts to the left. I checked the downward stroke of the blade throughout its descent, without a load and it is dead plumb, but every cut on something real, the kerf curves to the left. I checked the tension on the sawblade and it's as tight as it can get.
@@ModzandMore413 I'm gonna see if the rollers are angularly adjustable. If so, I'm gonna cant the blade to the right a bit and see if that will correct it.
I'm having the same problems! And so is my Son. He has a Bauer mounted on the Hercules stand, and I have the cordless Hercules mounted on my stand. Both seem to have a tendency for the blade to twist when cutting! Very frustrating! I even contacted Harbor Freight, and their advice was to take it back. :( I'm not sure a new saw and stand would remedy the problem, unless they have made some changes???
I have the same problem. I noticed a lot of play where the handle bolt holds the adapter. Possibly the adapter hole is too large and needs a bushing or sleeve.
No one seems to have a fix for the blade twist. I'm using quality blades. I have even held a cold chisel against the top of the blade while it's cutting to keep the blade true. When cutting pipe, I have to keep rolling the pipe to get a true cut. While this saw is a great idea, someone ( HF ) needs to work on the design a little more! Very frustrating!!
It was a little painful to watch you assemble this by “winging it” rather than following the very well-written instructions, but what experienced tool guy hasn’t done the same thing many times over. 😀 I did this full assembly with a HF 20V bandsaw (virtually identical install) and by using the directions, and putting the blade in “first”, you’d save yourself some time and frustration (I might add that the blade covers slide on/off with the small tabs slightly lifted vs. snapping on/off which is what it looked like you may have done - it’ll likely make those covers last longer when slid into place.) It’s a fantastic bandsaw & such a versatile stand - works terrific. Very much a HF fan! Good luck in future videos - but perhaps reading through the instructions real quick to show your audience the best way to assemble toys like this could be a tad more helpful to the novice shop guy / gal. 😊 One other nitpick - pls wear safety glasses my friend - especially when working with metal - glad you didn’t get hurt. Overall, this was a great unboxing, assembly and instructional vid - keep up the great work! Happy to subscribe - all the best! 😊
Is there anything that can be cut on your band saw setup shown here that I couldn't cut on either my 7.5" or 12" sliding miter saws with a high quality metal cutting blade?
That saw is on sale for $109 right now, and the stand is discounted to $99. So for less than just the better Swag stand alone, you can get a chop saw, vertical bandsaw, integrated switch and the saw itself, and all meant to work together. I bought the saw today, before I knew the stand would do vertical too. So I'm going back tomorrow for the stand.
I just got one of those stands and ran across your video while searching for tips and tricks. Did you figure out the issue with the wobbly base? Did you put some squares on it to see if it was warped? Might need to be exchanged?
The Hercules tool is an ok tool. it works, ive used it, but IMHO 2 main issues. 1) its defeats the purpose of your PORTABLE band saw. It's not simple to remove your saw & use portable.
Takes maybe 5 minutes tops to take off. It's the 10 minutes to readjust. I witness mark the top adapter and handle to the frame with some tape and strait edge. That will make it much easier to dial back in. Space is the issue and occasional use is what this thing is gear to. If I had the room I would love to have the central machining in the garage.
It’s NOT for people who use it portably. It’s for people who want a cheap way to have a regular band saw and the option to make it portable if ever needed. You’re looking at it from the wrong angle.
I appreciate you making the video, but I can tell you've never touched a portaband in your life. It's all good, but for starters, it's a blade, not a belt. 2) Try not to hurt yourslf. Lol 3) It's probably best if people dont try to make how to videos about stuff that they know nothing about. I'm just saying.... Thanks for the video, tho!
This stands accepts my WEN portable bandsaw. Works like a champ.

Glad I could help
Thanks I just bought the same setup today getting ready to put it all together. Thanks for sharing
Your Welcome! So far it's been a dream!
Will this fit a Milwaukee 6230 portaband?

Are the cuts square on it? Seems like the cuts would have an angle to them no?

Same here. No solution yet... I'm thinking its something to do with the size of the rollers.

Will it fit any Porter Cable saws ?
It should. If not it they will take it back.
They say it’s fits all so as long as your saw isn’t ancient it should work

Picked up my stand today. Stock was out in one store and a few left at the other near me. Great reviews so far!
Hey brother you into pcp airgun as well,I got same high pressure pump and bucket cooler set ,i built a 3 stage high press. Water separator as well.
I'm gonna buy that stand n saw real soon.
Does it say black and Decker porta band i got black n Decker wanted to get one figured wouldn't fit thanks
It's not mentioned in the manual. I use a WEN bandsaw, it's not mentioned either.
Alternative you could also buy a foot switch and make the machine on and off with it.

Don’t put it on wobbly plywood 😂
The Hercules band saw stand actually came out a couple months before the Hercules band saw.
Is there no way to clamp the piece your cutting oppose to holding with your hands? Not very safe
Yes, it has a slot where you can use a drill press clamp. I'm using the 9 inch clamp from HF.
@@M70ACARRY I need a 12" drill press clamp for some things.
He must’ve said that thing was hefty like 100 times
GLASSES?
That is a nice video; I wish you'd wear safety glasses; it makes me nervous.
Read the assembly instructions before making a video.
The blade can only go one one way 😂
Lmao! Yep SMH
RTFM
