Been watching documentaries on the Spinners they were truly an amazing group of people. Extremely talented. Still can’t believe they never won a Grammy
Brother Abdul, the Detroit Spinners are the greatest ever soul group of all-time.Brother Bob Smith, Brother John Edwards, Brother Philippe Wynne and Brother G.C. Cameron were the Detroit Spinners with style and class.Bob Smith and Philippe Wynne are gone but their memories will never be forgotten.Mighty Love, forty-two years ago is a Spinners classic ever.
EVERYONE of their HUGE hits were and STILL ARE so memorable!!!! How many groups can claim such a TREMENDOUS feat!!!! A truly LEGENDARY group that DOES need MORE recognition!!!! I feel very proud and grateful to say I saw them 4 times in my lifetime!!! (I'm 67) and own their very sought after live DVD performance..... A big THANK YOU to ALL the Spinners who have left us - for giving the world such wonderful hits and performances!!!! May you rest in ever loving peace in soul music history, forever.
I don't know guys......How did we overlook these talented singers??? Am I the only person who think the FABULOUS SPINNERS needs to be recognized and commended for their excellent contribution to music?
I always loved the Spinners. I was spinning those Motown and Atlantic records daily on my mothers stereo in the family room. I learned to play using that stereo to play along with. We had the best music. REAL music.
We use to see these guys back in the 70’s at the Latin Casino in Cherryhill NJ, which is gone. WOW what great memories and thanks for the blast !!! RIP Guys !!!
They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But when Philippe Wynn left the group they went down. They have enough hits to be in the Hall of Fame. Spinners for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!
I totally agree with you that The Spinners should be in the rock and hall hall of fame but I am curious. Many fans and critics think Philippe Wynn Walker is the most important member of the group whilst most of the hits has Robert Smith on lead vocals....maybe I'm wrong but this opinion is pretty hard to justify.
@@bpabustan No...you're RIGHT. BOBBY SMITH was ALWAYS the MEAN LEAD of THE SPINNERS from the VERY BEGINNING....long before PHILLIPPE WYNNE was ever even HEARD OF !!!
@@BilliardsLover No...he left the group long BEFORE he died...and was replaced by JOHN EDWARDS , who led on CUPID and WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU. Wynne was the DAVID RUFFIN of the group. He thought that The Spinners revolved around HIM...and his EGO and his drug use was a constant problem. He caused dissension between himself and the other group members ....and with their producer, Thom Bell. He wanted TOP BILLING....and when he didn't get it...he split. Bobby, Pervis, Billy, and Henry breathed a sigh of RELIEF when he was finally GONE....and HE was never the MAIN LEAD ANYWAY....BOBBY SMITH was.
BOBBY SMITH was ALWAYS the MAIN LEAD of THE SPINNERS from the very beginning...over a decade BEFORE Wynne even GOT THERE. BOBBY sang lead on the Spinners' very first hit, "That's What Girls Are Made For" way back in 1961. He sang lead on 95% of their material on Motown...including the hit singles TRULY YOURS and I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU...and again, it was BOBBY who led on The Spinners' biggest Atlantic hits..including the group's FIRST MILLION SELLER, 'I'LL BE AROUND", their SECOND million seller, COULD IT BE I'M FALLING IN LOVE, their FOURTH million seller, THEN CAME YOU (with Dionne Warwick, and their FIFTH million seller, GAMES PEOPLE PLAY . Look at the videos for these songs on youtube and see who's singing lead....IT AIN'T PHILLIPPE. In fact , of the SEVEN million-selling hit singles THE SPINNERS recorded for Atlantic, FOUR of them were led by BOBBY. WYNNE only led on TWO: ONE OF A KIND and RUBBERBAND MAN...and JOHN EDWARDS led on ONE , WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU. So....what's the BIG DEAL about WYNNE? BOBBY SMITH was the one selling all of the RECORDS !!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Smith_(rhythm_and_blues_singer)
Loved the spinners my fave group the singer when they sang then came you was dionne Warwick with Philip wynee and boby Smith they were a group to be recond with you will know what I mean if you listen to the old recordings saw them couple times they should of been in the hall of fame, classic soul group
Gives me chills! Bit of a rough start but Taylor Dayne got the job done! And this band's rhythm section understood the assignment! They sounded terrific - fitting accompaniment powering the mighty, mighty, Spinners.
This is amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉 the Spinners never disappoint. They're old and going through a lot at this time. To perform at this level,.OMG😮😮😮. The mighty Spinners!!! Give it up to the GOATS of vocal groups. Definitely in the top three no matter how you argue the point.
They were great saw them back in the day and in 1995 at a casino in Mississippi. Ate breakfast with them in Columbus South Carolina when I was in basic training army
@@williebowen1043 That statement is a little difficult to justrigy He was good, but they had ONE hit with Cameron as the lead ( it was a very good song)
I would never have thought about the Spinners and Taylor Dayne singing together. Actually, they are great together. I've always thought Dayne had a very good voice and didn't understand why her popularity didn't last.
Black dudes and dudettes PUUUUUULEEEEEASE BRING DISCO AND THE SWEET MELODIES BACK. I HATE THE MUSIC THEY PLAY TODAY ON THE RADIO. I DON’T EVEN LISTEN TO RADIO ANYMORE.

THE SPINNERS. ... PARA SEMPRE. ... FOREVER. ...😉😉😉
Classic performance of some serious music legends !
There will never be another Phillipe. Wynn God bless this brother, who replaced him .
John Edwards. GC Cameron was the best lead SINGER for the Spinners.
@@williebowen1043 That statement is a little difficult to justrigy He was good, but they had ONE hit with Cameron as the lead ( it was a very good song)
One of the most unique and distinguishable lead vocals that ever existed in the business.
they killed it!!! awesome!!

can anyone tell me why these guys are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
The Stylistics, Blue Magic, WAR, The Intruders, all way overdue for the RRHOF.
Derek Kane we are look under The Detroit Spinners .......:)
These guys have always been way underrated, !!!
Why even have a hall of fame if these guys aren't in it
Where is this show from! Is that Taylor Dwayne?

Ilove this jam
I remember her from Tell it to my heart
Didn't know this woman had all that iron in her she's darn good !
They did that, WOW!!!!!!
Best performance I've seen since Philipe Winn left.
Ok, so they're not the original Spinners. But I enjoy them still, much better than the so called music crap today.
Sing Taylor!
Wow
there's hope! Dionne Warwick(e)!
How have I never seen this before?
awesome video!!
I think he went down as well as the spinners went down. They both had a hit with out each other. They were better together.
