Hey guys The Fire Brothers here and in today's video I'm talking about a "leak" imaged of the silhouette of a Megatron statue, this statues is actually based on the CGI design that the producers of the movie were planning to use and.....well it looks like it will be considerably taller than the rest of the cast. Along with that there has been plenty of people asking me to talk about the "scaling issue" with the Bumblebee movie robot cast, when looking at the movie itself you may not have noticed but the Transformers this time around are considerably smaller than their Michael Bay counterparts. For this video I decided to give you my thoughts on this, Megatron's upcoming reveal and how Hasbro might go on about correcting or handling this issue in the near future. That’s megatrons hight in the first transformers film 40 feet and optimus prime was 28 feet in the first film
I’ve always seen a majority of the Decepicons to tower over the Autobots since they were sometimes portrayed as the military faction on Cybertron. The Autobots correct me if I’m wrong, were more of a work/building faction that didn’t really have many that had a larger and stronger body type. I’m sure this may be an error and Megatron may be slightly taller than Optimus. Otherwise other characters I might see being that tall are Grimlock, Ultra Magnus, Onslaught, Motor Master, Astrotrain, or the Constructicons. Jetfire greatly towers over most and he might be taller than this possible height for Megatron. And vehicle mode, I think Megatron might turn into a tank or another type of large armored vehicle, I’m not on board if he turns into a gun Optimus or another character could hold.
In my favorite transformers media(IDW) the autobots were the dominant, military faction. The deceptions are the rebellion. So the other way around.
In Gen I, Optimus Prime was rebuilt from a young Orion Pax to the new Autobot Optimus Prime which then explains his size

they may have been different size in cybertron......but they are made of transformium. I think their vehicle mode has to do upto a degree as how big they will be. if you remember in transformers 1......the size of the cube was huge....but it transformed into a small handheld size object. cybertronians can probably transform into very small objects even though their robot mode is very big. starscream can transform into a big f22 raptor..even though he stood almost similar height as optimus. I think they can alter their robot mode size too....but perhaps it takes energy and time to do that.

4:00 I’d just like to be a bit pedantic here and point out that Blitzwing doesn’t actually transform into Starscream’s classic jet mode, as he was an F-15 whilst here Blitzwing is an F-4 Phantom II. Also it’s worth noting that both the F-15, which is of course still in use, and the F-4 are to my knowledge still roughly the same size as the F-22.
The f22 is way bigger.

I don't mind. Reminds me how the cons towered the Autobots in Animated. Makes them more menacing. But seeing how Optimus is the tallest Autobot where Megatron is the tallest Decepticon....well as they say in Invader Zim: "Your leaders are just taller than everyone else????"
I genuinely don't care if the transformers are half the size , I mean these things are supposed to transform into human vehicles, so a 14 foot full transforming into a small ass vehicle without mass shifting is a bit of a stretch.

Yes I mean seriously This bugs the hell out of me. Why the hell is optimus so got damn small. I'm tired of them always dwarfing optimus to megatron. Hes a cabover truck and for him to only be 16 or 18 ft is bullshit

I honestly really like when Megatron is taller than Optimus. It reminds me of Animated, when Megatron was a massive powerhouse that was way taller than Optimus. I really like this design if I’m being honest

Megatron was always taller than Optimus but only by a little bit. If they're going to make Megatron that big, then I agree with you that Optimus Prime should also be bigger.

In my opinion, only beasts should be that tall, Megatron should only be slightly taller than Optimus, and Optimus should be around medium size and not absolutely tower over other Autobots.

The reason why Optimus Prime’s robot mode in Bumblebee 2018 was 16 feet tall was to make it proportionate to the size of his truck mode

Its kinda funny, Michael bay had good scaling and bad designs(mostly). While Travis Knight has good designs and not so good scaling.
I've done some math on the sizes of the characters...so far, the only ones I take issue with are Shatter and Blitzwing. As fighter jets, neither of them should be smaller than Bay's Ironhide, yet both are. The rest, so far, are reasonably realistic.

They could but in animated it makes thematic sense, in the movies they are both supposed to more or less be in the same level. This looks off, specially after 5 Michael bay movies with these two.

BTW I totally disagree with your view as it's good to have variety of sized auto bots and decepticons. And the fact you call them getting smaller a "downgrade" is really wrong as its more realistic to have them turn into a car but stay the proptions of which it's realistic. And the fact thier smaller makes it easier to get to thier level and get to understand the characters more than thier legs. Sry but that just my opinion(also the seekers are sppoused to be soldiers so u would expect them to be big)

Tbh I have many problems with G1 for one the biggest one I have is the mass shifting how in the world does a bit the same height as another pick them up like a toy that makes no sense and also Bayverse and Bumblebee don’t have much a difference with the vehicle modes because the vehicles in Bayverse are newer and bigger so the characters will be much bigger the vehicles in Bumblebee are smaller and older so they’re going to be smaller so there really is no difference another problem I have with G1 is the vehicles mainly the ones who turn into objects Soundwave what in the world are they going to turn him into for the sequel that’s a really hard choice Megatron is easy turn him into a tank and I swear if Reflector makes an appearance he needs to be something other than a camera because that’s not going to work with 3 Decepticons who turn into a tiny ass camera
It doesn't make sense to be too mad about the reduction in size. The Transformers in G1 are suppose to be 1:1 with the Earth Vehicles. It waS Bayformers who doubled their heights

I have a feeling that Optimus Prime is smaller simply because he'll have to pretty much go super mode with his trailer and tower over Megatron at some point.

Emperor Starscream-I like Animated’s scale because it made Decepticons more threatening since they’re bigger. The only problem I have is Lugnut being smaller than he really is and Prowl being taller than Bumbblebee despite he’s a motorbike.

I think it makes more sense for them to be a lot smaller compared to their alt mode, if they’re compressing down and arent hollow (which it wouldn’t make sense for them to be) it would make a lot more sense for them to be shorter
I can see Megatron being that big since he does has a gladiator background. I dont mind... as long as he doesnt form into a pistol.
If Optimus could've been at least 23 feet, then OK, but him being his OG TRUCK mode, and being that small, really makes things weird. At the end of the day, mass shifting is weird as hell.
Going out on a whim and suggesting that the “leaked” scale for Megatron is to refer to his significance plot-wise or some sort of exaggeration.
One of the few things Bay did get right was how big a Transformer would be with certain vehicle types. Optimus would definitely tower over most with a Semi form. However Starscream and all flyers would be larger because I don't know if anybody has seen a Semi next to a fighter jet but a jet is massive. The size shift presented in Bumblebee is problematic if you're nitpicky in accurate portrayals on how parts and size expansion works.
And then there's soundwave
i looked up primes height and it shows that he's 22 feet, but i dunno how reliable the sources are.
Optimus just doesn't feel right being under 20 feet and Megatron should only really be within 7 feet of Optimus' height.
For me, Optimus Prime being 28 feet and Megatron being 30-35 feet feels just right.
What I think should be their actual heights
Optimus Prime : 28 feet
Bumblebee : 12 feet
Ironhide : 16 feet
Ratchet : 16 feet
Wheeljack : 12 feet
Arcee : 10 feet
Starscream : 26 feet
Soundwave : 25 feet
Shockwave: 25 feet
Megatron: 35 feet
Here are some that if they were ever included in future Transformer films(Knightverse)
Grimlock : 60 feet
Strafe : 40 feet
Scornl : 62 feet
Slug : 48 feet
Jetfire : 35 feet
Barricade: 13 feet
Hound :18 feet
Hot Rod : 14 feet
Combiners (Just for fun)

Or maybe they're all at the same height, maybe even 100 feet just like Bayverse Devastator

True, scale matters
The first two Bay movies took mass into account when sizing the robot modes based on their alt modes. It’s why Optimus had a standard truck mode instead of the g1 cabover design. By dotm they gave up. And when designing for bumblebee, physics was just thrown straight into the crapper. I mean, a muscle car transforming into a jet, gimme a break. Of course, the designs of the bumblebee movie as a whole look like trash anyway.
I know this is just a toy but Soundwave turned into a hippie van in the bee movie toyline. Hope that helps! You rock!

At least the Bay films 1-3 made some sort of sense between their vehicle modes and their robot modes🤦🏾♂️
They'll probably just reformat Optimus near the end of the movie, maybe using his trailer make him taller alongside misc upgrades. From the Bumblebee movie I kinda get the sense that the Decepticons successfully took over Cybertron, despite killing it in the process. So Megatron towering over Optimus could make some sense.
As a transformers fan who seen every transformers series even the Japanese series the size of the transformers is not even relevant. I started watching transformes since armada, but i can see why newbies(who started watching during bayverse era) would most likely be the only people complaining
1:14 Megatron's height isn't that bad. In Transformers: Animated, Megatron was bigger then Optimus. So the scaling between him and Optimus here is cool. Megatron is the bad guy, and villians are suppose be bigger then the heroes. Plus he's a strong gladiator from Kaon.

So 2018 Optimus is the same/similar height as 2007 Bayverse Bumblebee? And Starscream is now only 15 feet tall, how can a robot that turns into a fighter jet be smaller than 2007 Bumblebee who turns into a car?
This could jus be optimus at his base form without the trailer . And you might see a taller optimus throughout the movie after an initial ass whomping from megaton

I'm a fan of how things look now. I don't mind the size. RID (2000) and Armada were my first exposures to Transformers and I remember Optimus always being big and stoic but Megatron always towering over him. In the 2004 TF Armada game, Megatron is massive and would rag doll Optimus around. In RID (2000) Scourge and the other decepticons we're bigger, not by much but big enough to tower over most of the autobots as they were military vehicles, a space shuttle, and a fuel tanker while the autobots we're sports cars and mid size suvs, with the exceptions being the bullet train brothers and Ultra Magnus.
I'd love to see a massive Megatron on screen, and who's to say that in a future installment their bodies wont get so damaged that they'll have to be rebuilt and scan bigger, more powerful and capable vehicles? I'm looking forward to Transformers having a second shot at life on the big screen
For Options i hope they go with a similar scaling as in Prime. Where Optmus was just a tad shorter than Megatron, and you wouldn't even notice unless they were literally right next to each other
I liked that in FoC Bumblebee, Jazz and Swindle were smallest, Ironhide, Ratchet and Soundwave were a bit taller, Jetfire and Starscream a bit more, Optimus and megatron tallest, with Brawl and Shockwave taller than them.

Wouldn't be the first time Prime was shorter than Megs. Was the case with BW, RID, Armada, Bay 07, TFA & Prime.
Most of the time the size difference isn't as big. Armada had combining gimmick. Never liked the story of animated, they made a joke out of the whole prime role in general.
In certain continuities: Megatron was a Gladiator, and Orion Pax (Optimus) is a Cybertronian librarian, so it would make sense why they have a height difference
Megatron was bigger than Optimus back in Armada, look at the scenes then they clash with Optimus not using his super mode. Megatron is bigger there and looks like he can break Optimus' servos off.
Maybe the size of Megatron was for the original movie concept, because it was originally planned to be a prequel to the bayverse.

alright, I do think that this silhoutte of Megatron is way too tall compared to Optimus, this drastic size difference between them is a piece of the Bayverse, which, for better or for worse, made sense since Bayverse 'Cons were designed to be monstrous, the 'villain is bigger' was carried over to Animated and I'm fine with that because that Optimus was not meant to be the classic Optimus, hell, it took till the finale for Megatron to even acknowledge him. Personally, I like the scaling between the big leads in Prime to be carried overto the Knightverse, just a head taller, just a head.

To be fair, it's less about the scale with their past movie iterations and more about the scale with each other. Even there, Megatron has a problem
Not sure how they are going to make it work. Because Optimus and Megatron have always been a rival and pretty much equals. With this much size difference it's hard to imagine a good 1v1 fight

In my opinion, I think it's an interesting change of pace to make the characters smaller. I've wondered this for a while, but how are the Transformers able to fit their robot parts inside their alt mode while humans are able to still get inside them? I think it would make more logical sense if they were small enough to fit inside a car mode while still seeming like a normal car. I also hope that they don't go crazy with Megatron. I think they should make him around Prime's height and make him an interesting bad guy that people can relate to instead of a big, menacing, scary villain that we've already gotten in other cartoons and movies. That's just my thoughts, though.
It's also possible that the scale of the vehicles they turn into isn't nessicarily full scale.
Difficult to fake with a car, which people will see close up, but more jets are usually going to be in the sky, where a smaller-than-usual jet is just going to look farther away.
If that's Bumblebee's Optimus size then it makes scales with the MTM Optimus XD
How small will the vehicles be? It won't make much sense them being barely bigger than their alt mode will their cars/jets have to be to be smaller than their regular ones like with shatter and dropkicks jet and helicopter being smaller than a real one it doesn't make much sense imo

As long as they're keeping their sizes accurate to their altmode, I don't care if some characters are bigger or smaller than they would normally be in other iterations.
Plus, while it may have been initially conceived as such, Bumblebee isn't part of the Bayverse, as we clearly see Optimus on Earth at the end of the movie, which directly contradicts TF 2007.
I think soundwave is gonna be a cassette player again because if you saw in the movie when he ejected ravage he transformed from a cassette tape

Two issues people should have just ignored. Then headaches will be gone. One is size issue, the other is autobot can't fly. Let them fly.
So this means that Studio Series BB Optimus would actually scale correctly with the MPM’s since he’s just barely taller then MPM Bumblebee
