    The Bass response on my ATC SCM40s is astounding!

    I recently listened to the ATC 50A speakers and they sounded very good in my opinion. In terms of driver volume, it is obviously very impressive. One must also add in fairness that the driver uses a strontium magnet. Had the driver been equipped with a neodymium magnet, it would have been much smaller. I am a new fan!

    Thanks Brad for this very good explaination / information, well done this video. ATC makes hi-end drivers, thanks to Billy, Ben and Richard for sharing your passion to the world.

    These ATC drivers need a lot of driving. So a weak amp that sounds ok driving that Yamaha unit will struggle to grip the ATC one.

    Looking at the range of bass drivers designed by ATC am I correct is saying they all have rubber surrounds except the the largest 15 inch driver which has a foam surround? What is the reason for going foam on the largest driver, is it a weight issue? Also surrounds have a reputation of breaking down after many years, has ATC managed to prevent this?

      foam has higher flex and damping / weight compared to rubber, making efficiency the goal for the 15'' i think, while maintaining low freq

      @@CarlBurnss thanks Carl, never seen or heard of any surround issues with the ATC but plenty of speakers from the 80’s with foam surrounds are now suffering !

    Where can I buy ATC drivers??

    • @TransAudioGroupMedia
      @TransAudioGroupMedia  Год назад

      Only in ATC speakers. ATC does not sell drivers OEM.

      Ok I thought so.
      I’m thinking about building my own studio monitors are there any drivers that are comparable that can be purchased ?

    Why dies nobody klippel test ATC drivers? And a big chunky motor mean little to nothing. I'd want to see some T/S parameters.

      ATC has a bunch of Klippel test gear that they use for development. The motor is big because the moving mass is very high - ATC uses big heavy doped paper diaphragms because they are nicely lossy internally but still have good stiffness. So they have to have a lot of motor to have reasonably decent sensitivity and HF extension.
      Anyway, if you google it you'll find the T/S parameters from their old catalogs.

      High performance costs money... The best of the best costs more money. .. Our older ATC Pro SCM20 active monitors (2 pairs) haven't missed a beat in 25 years. . They are "balls-on" near/mid-field tools.
      The Pro SCM100 Active monitors (3 ea.) are much of the same. .. A shop engineer can use these "tools" for hours on end without fatigue. . The ATCs have earned $$ their keep every day. . Top shelf in our shop. .. Cheers, Vail, Colorado. .. R.I.P. Bill Woodman. .Founder; ATC Acoustics UK
