The guy who voiced Woody playing Dory
The fact you just called Tom Hanks the guy who voiced woody disgusts me even though this was years ago
A PIXAR-OFF!
Visiting Lionel Hutz.
props! 😂
Was this b4 Forrest Gump?
There's so much spastic energy in his delivery...just like Woody from Toy Story, who I can't get out of my head when I hear Hanks's delivery.
Tom Hanks ...he's a living legend
ChicagoTurtle: you don't say !
Was
Isn't it funny that he looked like a combo of Norm MacDonald and Vince Vaughn when he was young?
Not anymore. He's now a grumpy old man who can't stand Ricky Gervais making fun of the Golden Globes, an organization so corrupt they had to stop giving Hollywood awards.
He always means to but...
Phil Hartman was an amazing actor sad that he's gone. Troy McLure you will be missed.
amal zuhair holy shit that IS Troy McClure!
Fun Fact Phil Hartman would’ve been the voice of Zapp Brannigan from Futurama but due to him sadly passing away during the production of the pilot, Zapp was instead voiced by Billy West. I watch Futurama a lot and whenever Zapp is on screen even though I know it’s Billy West, I always think Phil Hartman. He will definitely be missed.
I love how Hartman was always able keep a straight face no matter what he did or what was going on around him
@@Gvf77x lest we forget Lionel Hutz, and Lyle Lanley, the con artist who sold the monorail to Springfield!
Shame on Phil’s awful wife ending his precious life . Rest in peace Phil 😢
Young Hanks was ridiculously cute 🔥💓
Im listening to this without watching the video and all I can is imagine Woody from toy story saying this stuff.
An Australian Bush Man Imagine if he was going to meet his friend Buzz who had broken his leg after an accident while trying to fly. And instead of Phil Hartman, it was Tim Allen! #MindBlown
It’s such a simple premise, and yet it’s executed so well.
Great development and expansion of the idea too.
Dory from Finding Nemo would get along well with him.
Tom Hanks needs to reprise this next time he hosts.
Stevie I don’t think it would work without Phil Hartman
Better, we just got a revisit of David S. Pumpkins a little over a week ago.
I've been waiting for him to reprise this character for soooo long!
How was he able to remember that Bill broke his leg while on the way to the hospital I wonder.
maybe he had a text message on his phone that he kept reading each time he was checking his phone :)
*****
this was long before text messages :)
SmokeTemple :))) yes man, you're right
Kyle Oxenham Because that´s long term memory :)
Long term is pretty short actually.
Maybe he had a letter or note in his pocket that he kept rediscovering.
It's like his personality is having groundhog day
Even in absolute silliness, Tom Hanks’ acting skills are beyond compare. And I think this is the inspiration for Dory 🐟 in Finding Nemo.
So simple yet pure genius. I still use some of the lines since the episode aired. “Look pal, I’ve got my troubles too, I don’t go telling them to every stranger I meet”
Hanks looks like he is about nine years old here.
Love these classic sketches RIP Phil Hartman 💙
This is exactly what happens when you have a concussion. My son video taped me in hospital going through me asking same questions over and over, and saying, "What! There was an accident. Was anyone hurt?" And after answering for the 40th time, my husband was laughing and answering it in very short responses, and I got pissed that he wasn't taking the situation seriously.
My mom and I got the biggest kick out of this skit. We quoted it for years. Miss you, Mama! ❤️
The challenge of freaking out over the same thing time and again with the same intensity...Tom Hanks.
Absolutely brilliantly written and performed
Because conan o brien wrote it 😊
So you are the one who finds it funny
Nah this sucks. Hacky idea with no comedic twist really. Entertaining cast though
The late great Phil Hartman
I love Tom Hanks. So Awesome
At first you wouldn't think this concept would work, like it's naive, but it really does. Conan O'brien is brilliant.
conan wrote it?
@Tess Davila He waited 8 years for an answer. That's sad.
@@pinkstate hahahahahaha
@@pinkstatehaha..you waited 6 months to see me laugh..😂
Conan mentioned on a recent episode of his podcast, that he wrote it with Bob Odenkirk and Robert Smigel.
Omg look at how young Tom is!❤️
Tom Hank's acting skills really showed on this skit.
This sketch is a true jewel!
can't hold my laughter Tom is so funny lol
RIP Phil
I guess we know where Adam got the idea for "10 second Tom" in 50 First Dates LOL
Legend has it that to this day he is still wondering that same hospital…
Ahhh Tom Hanks young.
Such a simple yet hilarious concept. The way he keeps yelling for the nurse 😂😂
Is it bad that all I here is Woody? And that he's yelling at Buzz about how they need to get back to Andy's house?
Best performance by Tom hanks
CONAN WROTE THIS HAHAHAHA
Yeah!!!!!
Tom Hanks was that baby back in the day.....now he's a daddyy
2nd cast
Hilarious 😂
Now that Tom Hanks has done so much serious work, it feels a little odd to see him doing this sort of thing way back when. But gosh, when he was young he was such a cutie!
Shona McCarthy then you ought to go watch his movie Bachelor Party.
I had such a crush on him back then.
He's still pretty cute
What?! He has serial killer vibes young or old.
You think Ted Bundy is hot too huh?
I first remember him from Bosom Buddies.
I’m still trying to find the sketch where Mr. Short Term Memory is on a game show. I still vividly remember seeing it only once as a rerun on Comedy Central. It was so funny!
I remember seeing it once somewhere myself. I think Tony Randall appeared in that sketch as well.
Rip phil hartman
What a brilliantly written sketch
By Conan o'brien
This was a recurring skit for Tom Hanks on SNL and it was always hilarious 😊
There's one other sketch I recall seeing of this. In it, he was a contestant on a game show, and he had a hard time remembering what the rules were. The late great Tony Randall was also in that particular sketch.
Man he's a great actor!
Classic skit ! LOVE IT.
Conan O'Brien wrote that, that man really can be wrong.
"Oh Bill! You lazy slob! Get up and use the bathroom!" 🤣🤣🤣
so the really crazy thing.. Phil Hartman is the straight man. thats how great this sketch is.
This actor will go far.
I love Tom Hanks’s yell
I had a middle-aged roommate who, whenever she drank too many 8% beer, would turn into this guy. No exaggeration, exactly like this. It was impossible to talk to her without getting pissed off at having to repeat the same details over and over.
She sounds like she’s brain damaged.
Her because of Conan's podcast
Pretty much every pothead friend you'll ever have.
Terribly fantastic!
One of my favorite classic SNL skits with Tom Hanks. There was one or 2 others I recall that were funnier and hope to catch those... 😋👍✌️
I'd have told bill that he owed me $50.
Hans Effect Wouldn’t it be the other way around?
Haha!!! This is hysterical.
Loved When Tom Hanks hosted SNL.
The inspiration for Finding Dory?
Omg this is brilliant
This era of SNL was kind of surrealist.
Funny but this concept has a serious flaw, if his memory is that short he wouldn't have even remembered to go visit his friend in the hospital to begin with.
It's a simple SNL comedy skit that needs you to use Suspension of belief.
Suspension of Belief. William Coleridge coined the phrase "suspension of disbelief" in Chapter XIV of his Biographia Literaria to describe a state of mind in which readers willingly ignore obvious untruths and fantastic elements in literature in order to allow themselves to enjoy the story.
Mabye someone drove him to the hospital and put him right near the room. Possibly a family member.
@Maxx Kroes Don't you remember? Bill broke his leg. You brought flowers to his hospital room.
@@ryanangelo8392 Oh, no! That's terrible! How did it happen?
Honestly as much as I like Conan, I think the sketch is a bit repetitive. Good basic idea, but lacking in the execution. It almost feels like something a single person wrote and could have improved by rewriting/contributions from the writing staff.
This reminds me of a movie I watched long back
This is brilliant.....
What its like dealing with my dementia patients.
And yes, you have to have a sense of humor, or you'll go nuts.
That’s so classic
Tom.hanks doing probably the best skit during this cast
Hilarious. Missed old skits.
the ending where he keeps waving😭
I don't why but Tom Hanks in this skit reminds me of Paul Rudd
Thisbishawesome it’s the hair
It's great
Victoria was such a beauty.
we gotta get you a nurse.. NURSE!!! HELLO NURSE!! :D like that
I would love to see this guy meet David Pumpkins since they’re both played by Tom Hanks.
omg its troy mclure
and the dodgy lawyer, Lionel Hutz
I remember him from such motivational films as Smoke Yourself Thin and Get confident Stupid!
Troy McClure was classic Character on Simpsons! RIP Phil! Guy was taken WAY too soon! I have an Autograph of His and it is sad how many times I gotta explain who it is Signed by when ppl ask! If You DONT know who Phil F'n Hartmann is, GO UTUBE His Classics and enjoy!
so good
I can tell Conan wrote this.
According to Conan on a recent podcast, he wrote it with Bob Odenkirk and Robert Smigel.
There was another sketch I saw of Tom Hanks featuring this character. In that one, he was a contestant on a game show. Phil Hartman was the host of it, and I believe Tony Randall was in the sketch as well.
This would have been a perfect Robin Williams character
The last time Tom Hanks hosted. They really should’ve brought back this skit.
This is actually super funny
This skit brings up a good point... What if you call 911 from a hospital?
You all see Woody and Dory, i see Forrest Gump.
written by Conan O'Brien
I mimic this skit on audio tapes as a child from memory.
Close your eyes and picture woody bahahahahahaha
brilliant
“I’m sorry he was hit by a pair...”
Cowboy Woody visits Troy McClure.
OH NOOOO!!!! 🥺
God bless his soul. I suffer from short term memory, and glad could laugh about it. No, it's not that bad!
Keisha B, I can't help but think you missed a comedic opportunity by not posting the same response at least three times.
Oooohhh nooooo thats awwfuull
best. sketch. wait, what was i watching? SNL? oh I love this sketch! Is that Tom Hanks?
10 second Tom lmfao
Classic Tom Hanks
Please show the Mr. Short Term Memory with Tony Randall!!!
when jeff took the card and ripped it off hahahahaha i see what you did there Conan
Anyone else here from watching Conan and Kristen Wiig [ :
Great Conan.
I love Victoria Jackson.
And to think years later Phil Hartman would appear in the film "Jingle All the Way" where his character hit on Tom Hanks' wife
The Blind Date skit was also amazing, with him forgetting that he is eating, spitting out his food, then berating the waiter for the "already chewed food" on his plate!
I used to have that same horse blanket of a jacket Tom's wearing. Hey, that looks just like my old sport coat!
Oh, now I know why SNL is a perfect suitable place for first-time actors to go and honed their skills. It's also not just actors camera crews, writers, producers, and many others compete for SNL job to honed their skills on TV and filming. Conan O'Brien who wrote this skit is a perfect example of that success.
