Sorry about the re-upload fellas... I fumbled bad and had to pull back the original because I hit upload too soon. RUclips consequently didn't recommend it to anyone. Thank you to the 152 who did watch it, though, and 3 who commented. I appreciate you. Let's do this agin, eh... hope it works…
You are making me want to really get into gaming . Played a bit on PlayStations etc when I was young( over 25 years ago! I’m 38 now) but it has of course changed so much & different on a Mac !
Thanks for watching! Honestly, it doesn’t take long to install Windows and Steam and give some free games a try. There’s plenty out there, just don’t let it take over your life ;)
Unfortunate what happened with the video but you don’t know how amazing the timing is coming from your Intel Mac vid, I got my hands on a 2009 Mac Pro just yesterday and was working on fighting Bootcamp and working on tweaking firmware to think it’s a 5,1 and getting Windows 10 up and running and kinda got stumped when it came to upgrade paths searching up info online and seeing a lot of older forums and threads so seeing you have a 6600 XT gives me a lot of hope and optimism at upgrading my own, really appreciate you putting such time and effort into making content for old hardware such as this
the issue with CS2 in your case is the CPU holding back your GPU. while CPU usage doesn't appear that high, the game would use only a handful of your available cores/threads. so a CPU with much higher IPC/single core performance would be favored by the game.
Since you can't use it for competitive gaming you should try running steam os on it and seeing if it improves performance maybe? also try switch emulation
The reason Mortal Kombat won’t go over 60fps is because in all modern fighting games except for Samurai Shodown, the physics are tied to the fps. SamSho has a 120fps mode but the frame data can be confusing for serious fighting game players. Anyways… I wanna build one of these for fun. Having a system with macOS, windows 10 or 11, and Linux sounds like a fun side project.
@@montaguebarnabasltd lmfao no benefits whatsoever I can’t put more then 24GB of ram and it can’t take ecc ram either I just thought maybe games would work better if I had a consumer cpu over an enterprising one but I learned a lot about computers and learned wasted more money than I needed too :) buttttt it looks dope as heck so I’m not mad about it
It’s a Windows only overclock - going into AMD’s settings and creating a custom resolution with an 80hz rate is how I did it. I’m sure there’s workarounds on macOS, but that might take some time to find.
@@The1Tons yes. It’s just not as stable or smooth on other render modes. Not sure why, but I guess the combination of fairly old parts is the main issue.

Hey glad the video was useful. Thanks a lot for watching, and appreciate the lovely comment!
Best of luck with your 2009.

Sounds pretty bang on. I’ll look further into that, as it does sound like fairly poor optimisation. Anyway, thanks for watching and for your input!
super dope, was cyberpunk running at the same 1440p resolution as the other games? regardless this will be fun to try and replicate on my 5,1 as well.
Great video man!
Thanks for watching!
I use to game on a imac late-2013 it had a i7-4771 and a gtx 780m. I installed tiny11, played games on it for a year or so then i got my pc.
Genuinely might be one of the best CPU and GPU combinations of any mac. 4th gen i7s very capable, and the 780 remained relevant into about the 2020s.

I like the steamos idea. Might give that a go soon!

That’s a really interesting fact tbh. Thanks!
Yeah, for a low low price, I can’t recommend them enough.
I have a Mac Pro 5,1 with a i7 970 and 24gb of g.skill ripjaws ram and a rx 570 I love seeing the i7 in a computer that normally has xeons :)
You’re the first person I’ve come across with one of those in. Knew it was possible, though! Are there many benefits over running a Xeon?

@@montaguebarnabasltdit’s all good I don’t see it as a loss I literally just play Minecraft so 😂😂😂😂 it’s a bit overkill
I think, fighting games are locked to 60 fps in general to even the hardware advantege.
You may be right. CSGO/esports games don’t do that though. Not sure!
Make sure your videos are over 10 minutes around 12-15
What makes you say that?
How did you overclock the monitor?

So if I buy a 6600xt that is not flashed I will not have a boot screen but will it work fine after the computer starts?
Yes, as long as your OS boots fine it won’t be a problem. You just won’t be able to see anything at boot screen.
@@montaguebarnabasltd I bought a 6600xt and I can’t get anything. Could it be because I’m booting off a m.2 drive on a pci card?
How does fortnite run on performace mode?
With my GPU and CPU, runs well. As I showed in the video.
@@montaguebarnabasltd oh, was that performance mode?
