Great video. No other channel has made a video on the business end of a trimmer. You are the MAN. Keep the videos coming. I enjoy them a lot
Thank you for saying & Yes, My name is Bruce. Tough is my dog's name, lol
Well done, good video! I never had this issue but now I know how to get er done when I do. Thanks for the tip
You're welcome & Thank you for checking it out and speaking up. I like that...
Cheers
Big Thanks! I have a big 33cc Sears trimmer and just love it, but for the last 2 years it starts to bog out after some use. I found out that the head bushing is getting very hot. Thanks to your video I now know how to fix it. Thanks, Brian
Glad to hear this helped, Thanks for saying...
I have the same one and it is doing the same thing. I am thinking of drilling a hole through it with the bolt out and installing a grease fitting. It would hold it in place too.
@@fun1brians That's an idea worth trying. I like it
@@TufdogsPlace I just purchased on Ebay a used straight shaft for $44 and now see that they have bearings. So that should solve all of the problems with the bushing.
@@fun1brians That's cool, Thanks for sharing...
I've been wondering how that was put together. Thank You for the video!
My pleasure, Thank you for saying...
Use a deep socket on there just like you said instead of beating the nut. Good job Bruce.
Yeah, I know you're right. lol sometimes you get caught up in the moment and just do it...then you think, ..Oh my... They are watching me... lol
Thanks George, I appreciate you saying
Glory be!!!!! Great job Good Job. These can be finicky when they are messed up.
Thank you Bruce, I was happy to find how simple it was...
thanks for the video guy-very informative and useful!
Thank you for saying, I'm glad it helped...
that really did work out good, I was thinking the older weed whackers had plastic bushing,, but maybe not..
Yeah , it really did the trick, I finished up around the house after the video and it was still not hot..Win win ! ...Thanks
Nice job, keep me from. Cussing and throwing the weedeater in the pond. Thank you!
Glad to hear that, ... Thank you
Bruce great job I had no idea how that would be fixed thanks.
Thanks Tom, Turns out it's really simple. Thank you for saying
Well i'm glad that worked , now as for re-spooling a double feed plz vid i always do it wrong .
Thank you,..It worked out great.
I don't know if they are all the same, But I showed how this one works in the 1st video about this mess. it's a Weed Warrior Auto Winder.
ruclips.net/video/AcQuRzLqoeY/видео.html is the vid, and it starts about 5 min mark
At this time That's the best I can offer, cuz that's all I've got.
Who knew it was that easy! Good job.
yeah huh ? lol ,..Thanks man !
Great video. I’m back up and running. Thanks
Glad to hear that, Thank you for saying... Cheers
good vid ....people throw stuff away now a days...some things are so easy to fix....
Thanks, You are so right about that.
Glad you commented,... Cheers
Hello, great video! I am thinking of drilling a hole through it with the bolt out and installing a grease fitting. It would hold it in place too.
Job done. Thanks for the video, strimmer back working as normal.
Good to hear, thanks for sharing
Nice fix! Works great!
Thanx Bruce!
Thanks Buddy, Yeah it really does work...
i was thinking that area you though a o ring might go is for grease so it can suck it it as it needs. perhaps doing this every spring would be a good ideas
It could be, I didn't see any hole in it or passageway though, it might not hurt to check it before it becomes a problem.
Thanks Roger
Thanks Tufdog. Does this need to be done often? I would think when the grease warms up and thins it will simply run out the end of the shaft?
You'll know when the head on your trimmer wont turn anymore. then it's time. I have never seen any grease on the ends of these. perhaps it comes out and get slung away, IDK for sure.. Thanks for asking
Nice fix. Thanks.
Thank you for checking it out ... Cheers
The thing probably has a lot more power now too not having to fight all the old dried gummed up grease. I have a straight line trimmer and it gets hot down there too. I might have to look into that.
I didn't give it much thought, but now that you mention it,.. It did seem to run a little easier. Yeah, you may want to check yours out, it may be different but probably has the same concept. Thanks for sharing
+Tufdog's Place After seeing this ,Im thinking i'll have to do something similar with mine, but mine will be a little different. Good video as always. nice common sense repair.
Thanks Fred, Good luck with yours...
I hope you're still around. Thanks for the video, very helpful. Do you remember what was the string trimmer head you used on your featherlite weed eater?
I am still around & I looked it up for you. I made a video about it, starts at the 3 minute mark
link to video = → ruclips.net/video/AcQuRzLqoeY/видео.html
It's called the Auto Winder , made by Weed Warrior, and sold to me by Walmart.
It's still on there and still works great too.. There ya go, hope that helps ...
Thank you Sir!! @@TufdogsPlace
@@marydan924 Welcome, Glad to help when
that type of thing happened to me once, ended up being some type of real thin string that got wraped around the shaft and started to to pinch up and get the bearing hot. Luck for me I noticed it befor things got to bad.
I had never noticed one getting hot before, Sounds like you got yours before it went bad.
I see you got your internet connection back, I was watching your clip about it when we lost ours here for a minute, lol ...ironic...
Mine runs too cool, wonder if I need to take the grease out?
Kidding, good tip. Need to see how hot mine is after running.
haha, It gets warm but that's expected, after all it's just a bushing and there is friction in there. Thanks buddy
Video is really well done for not knowing what you're doing or talking about! Ha! (Love giving you a hard time)
Aw you found me out !...Thanks Stoney, I appreciate a ruff time from good friends
Is that a aftermarket cutting head? If so or not, will it fit on a FL 200? Or do you recommend a good aftermarket cutting head? Thanks in advance....
it is an aftermarket head, & I don't know what a FL 200 is. I assume you mean a Featherlite string trimmer. in which case yes it will fit, that's what mine are. . as for recommendations,.. IDk there are so many . just look for something that isn't expensive and looks simple, to complicated opens the gate for things to go wrong and be a hassle. I like this one cuz you feed the line through it then wind it up and it's restrung. but I can't remember what it is called. I may have some videos about different heads in my playlist. Best wishes, & Good luck
@@TufdogsPlace TY. Yes Featherlite 200
well there you go job well done
Thanks Buddy
very nice fix
Thanks Brother
Great video man!
Thanks Marshall
You're welcome
Very interesting and informative
Thank you
do you have a fix for a stripped dust cover nut on a twist and edgeTe475 weed eater. I can't buy a new one for it because they don't make them anymore.
When you say dust cover, are you referring to the string gaurd or the motor housing ? I'm not real sure which you mean , would be best to share a brief video showing the problem, then we can help you find a solution.
Good video !! (hope you didn't get clippings in AC)
Thanks & no,.. it's all good...
great video, thanks
Thank you,...Cheers
Great video and very informative. Would a hot bushing cause the string line to melt together and cause the weed eater to not run? It tries to run but quits on me. It gets very hot where the head meats the shaft. And, also, what makes my weed eater vibrate very badly? I also have a feather lite weed eater. I had a shop to look at it but he did not listen to me and only adjusted the carb. Now, it runs so fast and is using too much gas. I NEED HELP. Please reply. Thank you so much
Yes, the bushing getting hot will cause your line to get hot and melt together, * the vibrating can be from the line on the head being out of balance, or having a gob of grass debris build up on it. as for the motor it's self it shouldn't be out of balance. You can turn your idle speed down yourself, just do it a lil at a time so if it won't start you can un do the last adjustment. If you aren't sure how to turn it down, I made a video on adjusting the carb on these too. Hope that helps. Good luck
@@TufdogsPlace Thank you so much. I sure appreciate it. Would the carb need adjusted too, so it won't use so much gas? Also, I forgot to mention. If it picks up a rock in t throws it really hard and fast. Like the head is spinning way to fast. The shop guy said all he did was adjust the carb. Would that cause all these problems? Sorry to bother you again. But I need to get my old and faithful weed eater well again. Thank you for replying 🙂
@@sherryleeperdue9576 I told you in the previous response to turn your idle down to a more comfortable setting. as for it throwing rocks, it's gonna do that.
That's the nature of the beast. a motor turning fast enough to whack weeds will also throw rocks.
While changing that bushing check that inner cable for bends, kinks or fraying spots, that could cause the unbalanced behavior too
@@TufdogsPlace thank you. Yes, I know it will throw rocks, but it's running so fast it will throw huge rocks now. It didn't before the carb was adjusted. I sure wish you made house calls lol. I'm afraid my poor feather lite will never be the same. I'm using a heavier weed eater now and it's killing me. I'm inside resting now. Thank you again. I appreciate your time. By the way, where are you located?
I had the same problem. After the assembly I tested and the weedeater heated it up again. I removed the bump head and started the engine, now the temperatura was ok. I put again on the bumping head and I noticed that the unbalance of the damaged head was the root hause of the heating up. I installed a replacement but it is really difficult to put the nylon threads. I can not get the original bumping head. Can someone help me to locate the spare part ?
So to be clear, You need a replacement bump head ? If so check your local marketplace online. lots of folks sell these cheap when they start giving them problems.
Also there is E-bay. I've had good luck there too.
worked great, thanks
That's great ! I'm glad it helped... Thank you for saying
great job tuff mate ..thumbs uo
Thanks Brother. I appreciate you...
Best way to keep er cool is you take it inside in the ac, whilst drinking a cold beer. I've got a Weed Eater similar, that keeps spinning even at idle. Does yours spin all the time? I've got a parts diagram and I dont see a clutch in mine, fx26sc model. What else could be causing that I wonder?
I'm pretty sure there is a centrifugal clutch on all these units. Otherwise the head would never stop spinning. It's probably small and perhaps looks like it may be something else. Look between the shaft and engine, It may be galled up & sticking a bit.
This video may help you out,
ruclips.net/video/CA_F1CqO9bs/видео.html
Tufdog's Place , thanks for the info. You're probably right and it's got a clutch, but I dont know why it's not on the parts diagram. I was still gonna take er apart, but was doing some homework. I like watching YT vids anyway.
good tip
Thank you my good man !
How did you modify the shaft to fit the newer model weedeater?
I made a video of it, but in short all you have to do is cut a slot in the shaft tube near the engine end, to match what it looks like on the stock tube, & exchange the inner cable for one that'll fit your new shaft
@@TufdogsPlace thanks!
@@winfredhatchel8339 Welcome ! Take care...
Same problem with my Stihl Fs45 thanks
