A million videos out there and none seemed to touch on this issue. Had the same exact thing happen. Crazy thunderstorm, lost electric, now my button is blinking exactly the same way. Well at least I know I just need a new switch. Thanks for saving me time and money!
I have Liftmaster and all the symptoms were exactly the same - the wall mounted switch kept on blinking irrespective of any steps taken. Simple steps provided in the video helped me to replace the switch in about 10 minutes. Thank you "Tufdog's Place" for this quick and useful video...!
Thank you for this video. I couldn’t find a one that I have the issue with until I saw yours. It seems my one is older than year. I am going to order one on Amazon. Thank you again!
My new chamberlain unit not even a month old the switch malfunctioned and I’m guessing it’s because a circuit breaker tripped or a slight variation in voltage or maybe even because my contractor snipped a little too much and bare wire was touching the circuit board. The thing is mine wasn’t flashing but would come on once in a while but tonight it began to flash like yours and I just pressed the button and it has stayed solid since and is working. Chamberlain is sending me a new switch free as It can’t be wiring since it’s all new but I ordered one that has motion sensing for the lights off Amazon and hope it works.
Thanks for making this video. Same thing just happened at my house. My switch blinks the same way. Power went out recently during a storm. Funny thing is an identical switch is right next to the bad one, and seemed to have survived.
THANK YOU! Ours just went bad out of no where. Hope I can find a new one at one of the big hardware stores. Simple fix. Glad I finally found your video!
I hope you find it. I don't know if they are all interchangeable or not. You may want to contact the manufacture... Best luck to you, Thanks for commenting
You proved to him twice the wiring was OK. I think there is too much technology. It should just be a switch with contacts like the old ones. Good for you.
You know I installed two of these doors I tried to add some old garage door opener wall switches right next to the door so when I step outside all I have to do is reach in and touch the button to close them. But since the switches don't have the circuit boards in them they would not work with this system. So I had to buy a Chamberlain battery-operated remote that can open two different doors and mounted it on that little piece of wall in between the 2 Doors. It's bullshit
Thunderstorms do cause jam inside the circuit board of any electronics, including the garage control board. When you unplug the power and plug it back you are resetting the board and bring it back away from jam. This is like pressing the reset button.
I guess those openers got a little smarter since I installed them a few years ago. The switches still had the lights in them, and a button to lock out the remotes and turn the light on, but still a quick jump of the wires would always make the opener run. I've seen quite a few openers with bad circuit boards and bad safety sensors after a lightning storm, never a switch tho.
I had the same exact problem and wondered if a new switch would do it …after i tried to bypass it and nada happened .. i had an electical surge from the Edison folk …i guess thats a good substitute for lightning
This is so funny last week we had a bad storm for 4 days and this exact thing happened.. so ill call chamberlin, but its been 7ys. Or just buy another switch thanks for doing this video

@@TufdogsPlace Oh maybe I got confused with another garage door opener video I watched before yours. Thanks for uploading (long time ago lol) because mine uses the same kind of doorbell style button.
Who doesn't know what they're talking about ? You obviously don't realize He was talking about an older unit, not a new one. & yes, he did know what he was saying...
Strange. Most systems if they go down press reset or unplug them. However some system have extra features. Some even build same units with feature less functions however the features are there. You just found out yours had one that you didn't know it had.... A light button... Well some have a Vacation Feature as well. Most of the time they Blink like yours was. Then there is a button on a switch that would change back to normal and light would be steady... Most times this can be the difference between a Jobber model and deluxe. Only a Switch. You see yours has the Circuit board and some of that has to do with LEDS that is inside. However it also has to do with Resistance to the Controller. So say the light is caused by a Voltage drop that can be added by a 1k resistor most times that would be if you click it on it need s to be clicked off or cycle of the Garage door and resets back to normal operation. Then say you have the Switch that offered the Vacation mode. This mode also turns off your Code Hopping remotes you might have in your Homelink in your Chevy or Honda if you had the option or even some come with a Remote control that you can hang on your visor. These in vacation mode are turned off only way to make it work would be a button that your system didn't really have....So once the new button came it acts like the real button and caused the Vacation mode to be turned off.. So this is a guess. While I know some of the ideas behind. I am not saying your system light is caused by a 1k that is as if it was... There is something that you could test to figure this out... However I am not going into that.... Good they sent you a nice feature rich switch...
I hope you found something useful in the video. My videos are directed to my subscribed audience who seem to like my method of story telling as well as getting things done. Thanks for commenting though...
You might be onto something there, any way the switch went bad. & Yep I'm still at it, when I have time and something worth sharing. Good of you to mention that,Thanks... I appreciate it
That must have been an idiot that you talked to because your opener is security plus 2.0 which means flicking two writes together won’t work anymore you have to have a security plus 2.0 wall button on it.
Don't go buy a generic wall switch the says it will work on all openers. Because wherever I have lived I always add a second switch right next to the door itself so I can reach you in push the button and have it close. So I don't have to punch the numbers into the keypad and every time I want to close it. It won't work they put something inside of that opener the keeps it from working with any other remotes or wall switches
I'm really pleased with the way they handled this, Their tops in my book. & I agree with you about my luck on this one too. Thanks for checking it out and commenting... Cheers
the reason ur button quit working, is during the storm, lightning either hit the house, close to it, or the powerlines, and caused the brain board on the button to fry
