You, my good sir, are a wizard!!! I couldn't figure it out and thought it was a programming or wiring issue since I would have to hold down the switch to close the garage door. Saved me time, money, and a heavy load of disappointment! Simple fix, video goes step by step and gives detailed instructions and explanations, audio and video quality were great. My first impression was completely wrong about you and I apologize for judging you by the first 15 seconds in your video. Therefore I destroyed the like button and subscribed! Greatly appreciated 🙏🏽👍🏽
LOL! Glad you stuck around!
The lights go off on my garage door, what you think could be the problem?
You certainly know your stuff! You aced it. Saved me an unnecessary expense and an argument with the spouse. May you and your fine family have a healthy happy Thanksgiving. I know you'll be one of my Thanksgiving blessings.
😢🎉😂😂m
Great vid but wonder if it can help with this particular anomaly after re-engaging? :
Mine's a brand new garage door (I'd also been moving stuff in to store). My girlfriend didn't leave her key fob so I had to open the garage manually. I re-engaged the part that pulls back the garage door but the door is now only half closing?! i.e. I note the travelling white part (that engages the black metal mechanism part of the door) is stopping about two feet away from where it should - hence the door no longer shutting.
I definitely haven't broken anything but that re-engaged white part refuses to travel back to it's further forward original position. Any extra help is welcome before I try a sensors check / travel adjustment tomorrow...!
Mike, Thank you so much. Your clarity and description of the sensor problem was all new to me. In my case , the visual blockage to the other sensor was resulting from a spider web array on the sensor and a slight adjustment of the wing nut. Wow! It all worked 1,2,3. Thanks Again. Five minutes and a problem that I have been experiencing for several months was solved.
That's great to hear-glad I could help!
You’re a Godsend Mike! I was getting frustrated trying to figure it out by myself; but after watching your video I fixed it within minutes! You’re amazing! Thank you so much!
LOL! Way to go Brigitte!
I can confirm one year later!!! Thanks very much Mike!! You just saved me hours of hassle!!
Short, easy to understand, and straight to the point, and solved my problem. You just saved me $200.00. THANK YOU.
Cha-Ching!!! Awesome-You're Welcome!
This was the exact issue with my garage door, and your advice was right on target! Problem solved. Thanks much, Mike.
You're Welcome-glad to help!
Me too! Thanks😊
I have been dealing with this issue for about a month or so...so glad that I came across your video. Such an easy fix!!!! Thank you!!
That's great to hear!
THANK YOU!!!!! We cleaned the sensers and it still didn't go down. Then, I simply moved one a tiny bit upwards, and Voila! Tighten the wing nut and no serviceman or $$$ needed. You are the Best!!
Cha-Ching! LOL you're welcome!
😢 Thank you so much for this. You saved me from paying $$$ to have someone come out to troubleshoot/fix the issue. As a single woman who knows very little about home repairs, videos such as yours gives me more confidence when it comes to repairing small things myself. My sensor was knocked out of place and was not pointed towards the other and I lined it up just as you showed and voilà the door started working. Thank you so much. I’m definitely subscribing.
Thank you Audrey-I'm happy to help!
Thank you. We never knew how to fix this problem. We have paid a lot of money over the years to have this same problem fixed repeatedly and you just explained it and it was so fast and easy and you made it so understandable.
Glad it helped you!
Thank you so much! My fiancé and I just closed on a house two days ago. I woke up this morning and this happened. You’re a life saver!
Congrats on your house! Glad I could help
I’ve been so stressed not knowing what was wrong with this door! Thank you! Simple yet very useful tips just saved me hundreds of dollars.
Cha-Ching!!!
Perfect advice! I was having the same issue. And while I thought it might be the sensors , and even cleaned the glass, I didn't think about the alignment. Thank you so much! You saved me some bucks.
Cha-Ching! Glad it helped!
Been living with this unclosing garage for days. All fixed with your info. You’re an angel for posting. Thank you!!!!!!!!
You're welcome Marino!
This was ABSOLUTELY the problem my door was having. Thank you for showing me how to fix it!! Woohoo! 😁👍🏼
Awesome - you’re welcome!
Thank you!!! I've been screwing with my garage door for two days and you fixed it in five minutes and six seconds! I ordered new sensors yesterday but they weren't bad, just not aligned. OUTSTANDING!!!!!
LOL Awesome!!
Great job. 👍🏿
Excellent tip Mike, I will be checking the sensor more closely. Thank you for the video.
You're Welcome!
My hero! I've struggled with my garage door way too long. Then there was you. Thank you.
LOL CJ glad it helped you!
Thank you! You solved my problem. My garage door would not fully close; it kept reversing open. Thanks to your video, I realised that the morning bright sunshine was hitting one of the sensors. Only happens seasonally when the morning sun comes from the northeast direction; the rest of the day the north-facing garage is in shade. What a relief!
LOL! Glad it solved your problem!
Thank you, Mike. Suddenly had trouble with my opener. It kept reversing. I went through all the things I knew to look for. Sensor out of line, loose wire...etc.
The sun was coming in a side window at just the right time of day and blinding my sensor. I never would have figured that out in a million years without your video.
Thanks
That's awesome-glad to help! That's one of those things that experience teaches you!
I had a seasonal morning sun problem too; thanks!
Brilliant guidance -- this was the very issue and it was fixed readily by a simple readjustment! Am housesitting for a friend who's out of the country and was panicking. Free and clear!!!
Awesome Kerry glad to hear it!
Thank you Mike. I had exactly the same problem you're describing with my garage door opener and I followed your instructions and I was able to fix it. Thanks a lot!
Awesome-You're Welcome!
New house. First time ever having a garage door opener. A single woman was able to repair it with the help of your video! Thank you so much!
Awesome! You're Welcome!
Mike, you are a life saver! Your video showed me how to fix my problem in less than 2 minutes. Thanks so much!
Yessss!!! You're Welcome!
Mike, I'll echo all these same sentiments. You are amazing! Your simple, step-by-step instructions with video demonstration was perfect. This could have been our garage! I fixed a nagging problem in minutes. Thank you so much!!! Deb
Awesome Deb glad it helped!
Yes! Thank you for posting this. You just saved me from having to call my husband 3000 miles away at work.
Excellent!
Thank you! This is exactly what it took to fix my garage door problem.
Awesome Carol-glad to help!
Thank you! I swept the floor and then had a non working opener. I followed your instructions and reset the positioning of the sensor, tightened the wing nut and MAGIC! Your well done video saved me money, time and frustration.
You're Welcome Linda!
This is super helpful. My garage door has exactly the same problem. Your diagnosis and fix in the video are so clear that I was able to easily fix mine by adjusting the scanner's position. Thank you, Mike!
Glad to hear it Cong!
Learn something new everyday. Video was perfect and right to the point.
Glad it helped you!
Adjusting the sensor fixed my issue. I didn’t know about the flickering light as a indicator that it might be off just a smidge. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
@@MikeKlimek what if it's not blinking, indicative of readjustment needed? I have one green and one red.
Thank you! This is exactly what was happening to me and I fixed it myself by following all your steps! Just needed to clean and realign the sensors. I'm so stoked!
You're welcome!
Yesterday evening my garage door started to do exactly this. Would not close and kept popping back up again. I did exactly what Mike said and WOOO HOOO it worked!!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS INFO. So happy!!!!
excellent!
working fine now. thanks, you saved me time and money. cheers.
Awesome-You're Welcome!
I would like to thank you so much. I am a single woman with two grown children and I am not savvy when it comes to fixing things I tend to always call people who probably charge me a lot of money to fix simple things. But watching your video I was able to do an easy fix on my garage door you were very descriptive and helped me solve my problem. I am definitely going to subscribe you are a lifesaver!
Awesome! Glad to help you!
Thanks for watching! Leave any questions or comments below:
Hi Mike , the video was great, simple from a real pro. But i do have a question , i tried on my garage but there no lite on both sensors at all, what else i can try next ?
Sir!!! This is a top notch video!!! You explained it in more simple terms than just "Line up the sensors." I never paid attention to the lights before!!!
LOL Byron! Glad it helped you!
If the overhead unit light is not blinking, it is not an alignment problem with the sensor; it may be that the down force needs to be adjusted i.e. increased. If the door when taken off the opener moves up and down freely, that may be the solution. The force can be changed via the screws at the back of the motor unit, one is for down and one is for up force.
This fixed my issue that was driving me nuts ! Thanks Doug 🤝
Thank you, Doug. This was my issue! I am glad I read through the comments.
Thank you sir 🙏
Thank you Doug
Thank you for your comment, it fixed my problem
Thank you so much!! My sensor was flashing and I simply moved it a tad and it works!!
Yessss!!!
Mike, I just took a look at your video and cleaned the sensors, brushed away some fairly heavy dust and it worked!!! My garage door was sticking upon opening and now it works perfectly and even seems to be opening more smoothly than before the problem occurred. Thanks, man!
Awesome!!! You're Welcome!
Thanks greatly Sir. Your explanation is so clear to the point.
My problem was not included in the video, so I thought I would mention it. The curved arm that attaches the trolley track to the garage door has two bolts/nuts on my door. I did not realize that one of the bolts had fallen out. The arm was no longer straight and it ended up literally pushing the top of the garage door down at it's top instead of "pushing" the door down from the point where it is mounted. Then, the mounting point where the manual release is attached came loose. I found the original bolt and added a new nut and then re-affixed the locking portion into the base where it locks.......this solved the problem. The garage door was stopping about a foot or more above the ground because it was just pushing the garage door down from the top. Hope this helps.
wow it was that simple. I really thought i broke the garage door lol thank you so mhch!!
LOL! You're Welcome!
Just wanted to say thank you so much Mike, this video helped me figured it out what was the problem with my garage door, plus made me feel so proud of myself for fixing something I was about to call someone and pay to do it
Way to go Laila!
Thanks - this was my problem. In five minutes resolved the garage door stopping and reversing back open! My wife is a happy camper and so am I!
Way to go Greg! Happy to help!
This evening my garage door started automatically going back up, everytime it got about a foot from the ground when I was attempting to close it. I tried to close it about 10 times, and got the same result every time. After doing some troubleshooting, I discovered that my issue turned out to be a loose bracket that held one of the sensors to the wall. Whoever installed the system before I bought the house, used nails to secure the brackets to the wall instead of screws. So the nails in one of the brackets had loosened a bit, allowing the bracket to slightly vibrate once the bottom of the door was near the sensor. As a result, and while the sensor bracket was vibrating, the sensors got misaligned for a slight moment, triggering the safety mechanism. I replaced the nails with screws and the problem was solved.
Good troubleshooting!
Thank you so much im at a friend's house and thought I broke it and if I didnt fix it I'd have to pay for a new one but luckily this helped!!
Awesome! Glad it helped!
@@MikeKlimek Awesome video....What would you suggest if i am getting no green or yellow light on either sensor, but still able to close the door using the wall mounted garage opener???
@@durockize It could be a several issues...maybe a bad sensor(s), bad bulb in the sensor(s), bad/damaged wiring (I've seen wiring with staples punched through it), bad connections to the motor, or bad board?
Thank you sooo much. This fixed it and saved me a $60 service charge and who knows how much more if I had not found your video and cancelled the service call! Keep up the good tips!
Nice!!! Love to hear it!
You are a good sent. I can't thank you enough for helping me troubleshoot my garage door issues. That's exactly the problem I had. As soon as I adjusted the sensor the green light became solid and I was able to close and open the door. Thank you 🙏
Awesome-glad it helped you!
Faulty wires was my issue. Thank you for this! We’re in a townhouse so the constant reject of the door was driving us insane, and my neighbors too I’m sure...
You're Welcome!
You’re a lifesaver sir! I was about to go nuts tryna figure out what’s wrong when nothing was blocking the sensors😆
LOL-glad it helped!
Wonderful!! Information like this helps those of us who aren't savvy when it comes to repairs and not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars for a tech to come out. Thank you!!
That's just awesome! You're welcome
@ Evening_Star.....
YES I agree those who aren't
SAVVY his lessons are invaluable & you're RIGHT the MONEY he saves us is HUGE!
I almost feel like a BOSS LADY😅 after he helped me FIX my garage door!!
I want to thank you for this video, I have had this issue for more than 1 year!!! I was scared to think it would be crazy expensive for a fix, it was the sensor that was out of line, you are very awesome, sir!!
LOL!-glad it helped you!
My garage door opener will not close if opened or will not open if closed. Following this video, one of the sensors does not have a green light. I climbed up to the "motor unit" and wiggle the wires that connect to the sensors. One of the wires was loose and can easily be pulled out. I pull the wire all the way out and push it back all the way in. Now I have a green light on each sensor. Problem fixed. I almost call the garage door opener people!
Cha-Ching! Nice job and saved some cash!
Very good, simple and straight forward solution. It worked for me, quick clean up on the lens, some adjustments and the light came strong.
Sweet! Glad it helped!
mike, seriously, thank you so much. this simple task, simple thing, just completely went over my head, this video not only fixed my garage door it also helped me realize i need to be more thorough when inspecting things. preciate it man!
You're Welcome Brick!
Thank you so much for this video!! We were able to call a repair person and this was our last ditch attempt to try and do it ourselves to save $! This worked!!!!! Our sensors weren’t aligned and just needed to be readjusted. THANK YOU!
Cha-Ching! Nice Work!
Thank you. Simple and highly effective
Your video was extremely helpful and much appreciated. Thank you very much for sharing. You saved us an expensive service call.
Excellent! Glad it helped
Awesome, thank you for this tip! My garage door kept going all the way down then suddenly reversing! I retargeted the sensor and it's been working well now.
Excellent! Glad to help you!
Thank you for kindly providing this helpful information. I know a retired woman who was talked into replacing her sensors without the “expert” doing any troubleshooting first.
Your welcome--sounds like your friend was taken advantage of
Thank you Mike! I did align the sensor and now my garage works fine. Keep it up 👍🏼
Excellent! I'm glad to help!
Hi Mike, this really helped me fix my garage door that was bugging me for a while! I really appreciate it.
Glad to help!
Wow!!!! My garage door's vibration going up and down caused the wing nut to loosen!!! You're great!!!
Awesome!
Excellent explanation. Thank you Mike!
Mike Thanks for the video. After watching I successfully fixed my garage door. The problem was exactly as you described in the video. One of the sensor was not aligned. The wing nut was broken. I put some tape around the sensor. The door now close perfectly. You now have a new subscriber. Thanks again, keep up the great work and keep safe.
Glad it helped you and Thank you!
This is exactly the video I was looking for to solve my garage door problem. Thank you very much!
Awesome-You're Welcome!
Thank you very much for a most instructive and concise video! I was able to fix my reverse issue in about 5 minutes after watching! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Awesome-glad it helped you!
Wow! So glad I found your video. I was just quoted $180 to come out and troubleshoot for the 1st 30 mins. I'm going to go home and try this after work and see if it solves the problem. I am so tired of having to pull the car out, go back inside to close the door, then exit thru the side door every day. Wish me luck!
This was a lifesaver! Thank you.
An excellent helpful video. Direct and to the point. Fixed my issue completely.
Awesome-glad it helped you!
MIKE!!! Thank you!! You saved me so much time and effort. The Sunlight was our problem!!! You were the only one to mention that!! Thank you so Much!!!
LOL-You're very welcome!
Thanks for the video! Took me forever to figure out what was going on. My issue was the second problem you addressed.
Thank you so much!! My issue is what you had mentioned towards the end of the video; the wiring! I just had to maneuver it a certain way and it fixed the issue!!
Awesome!!!Glad to help
The sensors not being aligned was exactly the problem. Thank you for the fix!!!!! Perfect.
Awesome!
Thank you!!! Thought the sensors were working fine because both lights were on until I watched this video - didn't realize a slight blinking of the light would be the cause. Such a simple fix!!
Love it! You're Welcome!
Moved it to get a brighter light and problem was solved. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Your Welcome!
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed. My garage for months was acting weird. I readjust the sensor amd it worked like a charm
Sweet! Glad it helped you!
Great explanation of common issues. Was able to resolve my door mostly closing and then backing up
Great! Glad it helped you
Thank you for a great tutorial, I found a nick in the cable going to the green sensor, cleared respliced , clean the lens, works perfectly no more blinks
Awesome!
Thanks for the easy to understand video. It's not what you do, but what you know.
Your video saved me...garage door wouldn’t go down after I took out the trash tonight and I was panicking! The sensors just needed to be cleaned. Many many thanks!
It's nice when it is an easy fix! You're Welcome!
Thank you so much I have been coming from work every day and had no time to try and fix the roller door I have just seen you video and fix the problem straight away. Thank you so much
You're Welcome!
Wow! I had this exact same issue. I moved both my sensors up just an inch so they were aligned and that made it work. Thank you soooo much.
Awesome-glad it helped!
Thank you! Just had a new Chamberlain installed and your comment about the sun blinding the sensor solved the problem. I waited a half hour for sun to move and sure enough, sensor was in the shade and the door went down without a problem.
Welcome! Mother Nature just having a little fun!
Thanks . Great job explaining.
Thank you so much for explaining what each side does. Mine would start to close and then stop. After watching this video I found a loose wire and problem was solved. Thank you so much!!! 👍
You're Welcome!
Thank you mike. Ive been getting alot of garage door service work,
Welcome!
My garage door failed in the manner you showed me on your video. I checked one sensor that had a bright orange non-flickering light. Because of your advice, I knew that was the power sensor and that it was working correctly. I checked the second sensor and that sensor had a dim green bulb. I cleaned both sensor lenses with Windex. I adjusted the wing-nut on the sensor with the dim green bulb until that bulb turned on and remained bright green. The door closes perfectly. Thank you for your help.
Glad it helped Richard!
Man. You nailed it. The other videos were not as good as this one. Thanks a million.
Welcome Rosary!
Thank you for sharing this video, saved me an expensive repair!
Love it! You're Welcome!
Great job Mike. Nice visual explanation
Thank you!
Thanks, Mike. That was sooooo easy to fix. The culprit was a lawn trimmer blocking one of the sensors. I can be such a dumb ass. Thanks for the help. My wife thinks I spent a couple hours fixing it. We’ll keep that between us. HNY! TR
LOL! Glad it helped you!
THANK YOU SIR! FIXED ER RIGHT UP, AND SAVED LOTS OF MONEY!
Awesome-you're welcome!
Thank you for posting this. This just saved me a garage door service call. Worked.
Awesome! Glad to help!
Wow, this was great and well explained. I figured I might have two issues, one of which was the "blinking" (inconsistent) receiver light. I determined that it was not a misalignment as you smartly gave as the likely issue folks have, but a loose power wire that when I giggled it on the this sensor box, the light went steady. The door now works normally. While I may have to repair the wire/sensor,.....your video was instrumental in me going to the "target" issue, and finding the answer. Thanks!!
Awesome! Very glad to help you Jontona!
Appreciate this video as a first time home owner..works perfectly now.. thanks
Awesome-glad to help!
I checked your video today and followed your instructions and it worked perfectly and solved my problem. Thanks buddy
You're Welcome!
Excellent explaining! Thank you ! I was able to close my garage door.
Sweet! Glad it helped!
Sir - this post helped me fix my garage in 2 minutes. I appreciate you!
Glad it helped you!
A bunch of thanks Sir. I My garaz door has the sensor dislocated a little and hence not working. Your vid has helped me to understand and address the problem.
