Garage Door Won't Open All the Way - 10 Reasons Why
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 июн 2024
- Our garage door started having a problem where it stops shortly after it starts opening and refuses to open all the way and goes back up or down. Occasionally it would do this when the garage door closes too. Once I started looking into this it turns out that there are actually quite a few things that could cause this. Luckily for me, our fix was an easy one but if your garage door won't open or close all the way too, this video's for you. Just to get you some more ideas on what to check. Good luck!

Thank you, the video helped me fix my garage door, which wasn't closing all the way down. I turned off the garage door power from the switch, and the problem was fixed. GOD bless you!
Thanks! Mine worked after seeing your video and adjusted the force button
Thx for doing this, filming it and sharing it with us. 👍👍👍👍👍
Your videos are so helpful.
Thank you! Glad to hear the videos are helpful.
You make me save some money, thanks for your sharing ❤
I’ve learned so much and saved so much money watching your HVAC videos, thanks. If I can add something to this video, usually when there is a sensor blockage or fault, the head unit lights flash and makes a clicking noice indicating the sensors are blocked, thanks Jay !!!
Glad to hear that the HVAC videos have been helpful for you! I hope to put out a few videos on the HVAC topic next after I'm done with these garage door videos. 😄 Yes, you are right! Thank you for pointing that out. The flashing light and the clicking noise is like an immediate giveaway. 👍
@@WordofAdviceTV Your the best Jay !

Good video always learning.

Great tips, thanks!
Another great 1 👍👍👍
Thank you sir! Have a blessed weekend my friend!!
great information
Good to hear that, thank you!
Thank you!
Great video! The garage door is probably one of the most neglected parts of the house, unfortunately. 👍👍. Might also be a short, loose wire, in the control on the wall you press to open and close the door.
Thank you! I agree, it usually only gets noticed once it stops working. 😅 Oh yes! Thank you for reason #11! That is also a possible problem.
I just recently had the same problem with my garage door. After applying lubricant to the rollers, pins and overhead spring plus cleaning the tracks which usually does the trick. I had to lubricant the motor gear drive to get it to work properly.
This happens a few times a year with my Wayne-Dalton garage door. The very first thing I try and (so far) always works is unplugging the power cable attached to the ceiling of the opener control motor, wait 10 seconds, and re-attaching (as you said in the video as #7). I guess that's why Wayne-Dalton does not make opener control motors anymore...
Good to know that Wayne Dalton has that particular issue. Thank you for sharing!
And reason #11 is that the springs on top of the door are weak, worn, or not doing their job any more, i had problem's with the door going half way a quarter way same as your example. after a while one of the springs broke and it got worse i had to really look for the problem and it was because the spring broke. changed both spring and all was well. Note. older springs? might have been wearing out or not piking up enough of the door weight
Good to know. Thank you for sharing your experience with the springs!
@@WordofAdviceTV the springs were about $160 with the proper tools to spin the springs to tension . The garage door is supposed to be able to pull up easily so as to not put tension on the opener, I talked to the guys at the place I bough the springs and learned before I changed them out . I am Not a garage door guy .🤪 just sharing 👋💪to all be well .
You were lucky to still be able to open door. A friend of mine had a spring break, that was a old 18 foot wide wooden door, it wasn't moving. Lol
@@midulcesrecuerdosbut I read that’s really super dangerous to do on your own glad you managed to do it safely 🙏
@@justjess986 (Update> i should of done tip #10 adjust force the garage door uses. up or down.. i did it the hard way adjusting the tension on the springs. so i nowi know more. tip #10 update
things I didn't know now I know thanks to you and this video.the soundings in your house look amazin where are you.? Florida or California personally Iooks like San Diego to me
Hawaii
Glad I could teach you a few new things! We are currently renting a house in Big Island, Hawaii. Praise the Lord, it's a wonderful place!
I notice when the sun is directly shining on the sensor, the garage door will not go down. I then manually pull the door all the way down.
You can stand outside the door and allow your shadow to block the sun from the sensor then use the door closer remote.
Hello 👋 🫂 hello 👋 good buddy Jay I want to wish you and your wife a big congratulations 🎊 you are a very blessed. Oh my Goodness jay it is soo cold 🥶 😫 here i think its only going to be five degrees and the windchill is twenty five below and got above seven inches of snow ❄️ 😳..now that is just a little bit too cold for me and I can do without the snow but I have to endure and go on ..well good buddy tell everyone I said hello and I love them and you buddy and give them a big ol fashion hug for me..take care and God bless you and your family jay.
Hey David! Thank you!! God is good, we are indeed very blessed and favored by the Lord. My condolences about the cold my friend. 😬 I was wondering why the views for my furnace videos started to ramp up. Turns out it got cold on mainland. 😅 I sure don't miss the frigid Minnesotan winters! Do stay healthy and try to stay warm! Thank you for the greetings, love, and blessings!! Aloha from Big Island, sending some tropical weather your way! May God bless you and yours, have a fantastic rest of the weekend!
Glad some good comes out of your home misfortune 🎉
Lol, right? Nowadays whenever something breaks in the house I see it as my next potential video. 😅
How about a bad limit switch?
I've never run into that before but I suppose that's a possible culprit too. Thank you for pointing it out!
I have and they had to install a new board to fix it. Door kept closing a little and stopped....a little and stopped. Fixed it.@@WordofAdviceTV
Heres one that I didnt know, is sunlight can affect those sensors for closing. I had one door, but no the other, that wouldnt close during certain times of the day in the summer. Depending on the angle of the sun and time of day, it would think the sensor detected someone tripping it. Was very random. I probably spend a half an hour spring and then fall adjusting my garage doors. Lubricate rollers, check that all nuts, etc are tight, and lube and tighten the chain if needed and clean any gunk I see. Never have garage door issues.
That's a good a tip! Thank you for sharing your experience with that.
Your dad knows now 😂
Haha yeah but he sold that house already so it's okay. 😇
11 forgot to pay electricity bill
I'm pretty sure we all keep our old oil on the green sensor side 🤣
Haha now that you mention it.. I think you're right! 😄
You forgot to mention about how to programe garage remotes and codes for pin pads. Also how to delete codes and programed remotes...
He didn’t forget, this video is about why a garage door doesn’t open all the way.
@@jeffj2730 True 👍🏻
Thank you for mentioning that. (for others that may have the same thought) I didn't talk about that in this video since I have a separate video dedicated to this topic: ruclips.net/video/E0je1HfGyaM/видео.html
Dad nevwr found out. Lol
Lol.. 😇 I figured that as long as it works, it should be okay not to tell on myself.
The seals at the bottom slide into a bracket as you said. I took pliers and crimped the end to keep the seal from sliding. Awhile back my dog decided to chew up the side of it and I needed to replace it. I used silicone spray on it to help it slide. Thanks for the videos
@jdubya54 Good one! It didn't even cross my mind that I could simply crimp the ends. Thank you for sharing the tips and experience!
