    Hello, Thanks for your post. I am replacing the current cable that is 8' 6" or 101". What size cable should I buy? 8' or 9' feet.. Thank you for any help

      Thank you for your response James. you should be a cable that is 8'6" in length which is for a 7' high garage door. However you could also instead a 9'6" cable as well. the longer cable may require you to add 2 more quarters or 1/2 turn to balce your door. Thanks Darren

      I would like to know the answer to this also. Is it the same basically accept for testing should be done after both are equally tightened?

      Wind both springs the correct number of turns based on the height of the door. Test after winding the second spring

    My door fully opens just above the door opening (correct position for fully open) but as soon as the motor stops, the door retracts about 8 inches. Is this due to insufficient tension in the torsion spring or is the chain too loose? Thanks.

      Thank You for your message. I would say that door needs some more tension. It is easy to test. Close your door with your opener. When it's fully closed use your manual release on your opener and trying opening your door by hand. It should stay fully open. If it doesn't not just get a set of winding bars and some visor grips and add 2 quarters and retest. If you add too much remove one quarter and retest. Your door should stay open half open and fully open. If you find that your door is heavy on the floor and fast when fully open. Then tension is not your issue. You have the wrong torsion spring. Hope this helps.

    Using drummer sticks works just as good as the metal rods to adjust tension spring. They fit in holes perfectly.

      Yeah I would trust drummer sticks over a metal rod any day

    Keep your fingers away from set screws. Also, looks like spring is oiled so you don't need to stretch it out too much.

    Firstly you are standing inside the danger zone. You need to stand on the right of the right spring & left of the left spring.. The way you have positioned your ladder is also incorrect.

    • @jaytray229
      @jaytray229 4 месяца назад +1

      How about explaining to everyone why his latter is positioned incorrectly? So as to be helpful and not just making know it all feeling comments. and also maybe one or two reasons why we should stand to the right or left of the Spring? Thanks and appreciate you possibly saving some us a trip to the ER
