Thanks for watching. This featherlite didn't start and in the end it was smashed on the ground and broken. We're going to try and get it running but first we have to see if the damage is repairable.

A weed eater brand feather light, especially the older ones, are my favorite trimmer by far. At least partially because people don't maintain them and try to use them to mow down a field then they get upset because it won't start or whatever and throw it away.. which is where I come in I clean them up see what the actual problem was and two out of three times fix it and have a decent running trimmer that is made for house size yards that aren't wildly out of control.. that's actually in the owner's manual when you buy one which I've only done once hahaha

We had 3, one like that and 2 straight shaft jobs. I am giving the last 2 to my son-in-law because they were freebies YEARS ago. I didn't have enough money to get a set of adjusters so I took a Dremel and a burr and ground away the carb housing so I could adjust with needle nose pliers. They still run but I'm tired of messing with them and the son-in-law needs something to mess with. I just ordered a DeWalt 925 electric trimmer to go with the Lowes job. This is for heavier stuff so all bases are covered. I know a battery will NEVER be as strong as a 2-cycle but when you get geezerish, things change. Thanks and God Bless.

    Thanks for sharing ..
I was about to smash the shit out of this trimmer..
Tried for two hours to get it going ..
I will try again tomorrow.. so frustrating when the lawn mower and snowblower works with just one pull and this brand is so frustrating to get going. With this video there is no way I won't figure it out. I will update when I get this going but why why would they ever release it for sale when they know it will cause start up problems frigg. I feel bad for the average Joe blow like myself.. lol

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE it is working great now.. used a bit of engine cleaner spray after taking the spark plug out and the carburator and dried everything from the excess oil. I think the premic was done too rich which caused the unit to over lubricate and possibly flood heavily..
Used a lighter mixture to test and it is now running first pull..
May just grab the premix from the store as I don't want to have 3.8l mixed sitting as I wont use that much..
Thanks again for showing all the details .. cheers

Good work there. Yah I have one of those FL26plus curved shaft with
Walbro carb. I found it in the trash while walking my dog.
New fuel lines and quick carb clean and carb
adjustments got it going . Adjust both the high and low adjustments, I had to use a wire connector and needle nose pliers to adjust since I don’t have the spline carb adjustment tool.
This year I had to turn the low jet a 1/4 to keep it running.
Would I buy one new ? not sure. As I prefer strait shafts and use mostly my strait shaft Murray m2510 by MTD. I kept the FL26 plus as a back up and to have a curved shaft one .
I always use non-Ethanol fuel in 2 cycle equipment to minimize damage to fuel system

Awesome!! Great fix. The plus to those weed eaters is they are definitely super lite. Hauling a weed eater around for hours, a couple pounds even oz makes a difference.

I think the Weed-eater survived being slammed to the ground with only a few scratches, but the real damage came when the owner ran over it with his truck! Temper! Temper! I can’t speak to the newest of Weed-eater string trimmers as far as quality, but what they were building 15-20 plus years ago was really good! Like so many things, they probably have cheapened them up by now? I wouldn’t pass up a solid old one as a “freebee” to try to get running again! The only Weed-eater product that I have dealt with that was just junk was the 2 cycle “pusher” edgers that they were building about 15 years ago. They were nice in that they were small (easy to store) and light weight (easy to push) but after they got a few years on them, they were impossible to start and keep running. You could work them over and get them running well but the next time you try to use it, your were wrenching on them all over again! If I found two on the curb, I wouldn’t even bother to try to build one good one out of them. Great save on this one!
