The XP-55 was supposed to have 4x 20mm and 2x 0.50 cals in game, but it was considered too OP and the developers decided to remove 2x 20mm to make it less overpowered
Have you heard of the P61?? its also american, has 2x more 20mm guns (4x 20mm guns total), all center mounted, can have 4x 1000LB bombs, has 4x .defensive .50 cals which do a lot of damage, has a radar, and its 4.0 too with airspawn in air RB...
I hate those things. Almost every one I come across just turns around and tries to kill me with the back gunners like he's a bomber XD I just chase them away and save them as a snack for later. They're tanky af to, sparkle time when you shoot at those damn things.
@@Razgrize-nc7fs you can play plane shark with it by going about 700-1,000m below a bomber and using your .50 cals to light it up from below. I love how versatile it is.
I hate facing them because if they aren't killing you from 2km away with their turret, they'll try to attack you in a head-on. The head-on part is fine, what isn't fine is how they might fail in the head-on and then run away for the rest of the match and hide behind their speed and 4 .50's
this is honestly one of my favorite aircraft in warthunder along with the p63. also super fun when people mistake you for being a jet cause of the swept wings XD
I’ve been playing war thunder for over 5 years and am not even max teir in any of the 7 regiments. 99% of people don’t like it because they don’t want to commit their entire life before they can play top teir and actually unlock cool tanks (or 700,000 dollars if you want to buy your way to the top). Very few people are interested in extremely slow paced video games. I think if they made the game 5x quicker tank unlocks you’d be shocked at how many people would play. However, I’d keep free xp the same rate so there would be marginal benefit to long term gaming. 55 thousand battles played and I’m still 4 tanks away from the basic Abrams, that’s just rediculous
Ryan Blake well also in my case, I have been playing for a couple of months now and I got up to jets in the British tech tree and mid way through US for planes and Rn I’m grinding tanks for Germans (did a little of aviation), I’m on tier 4, boutta get tier 5, also have a premium account and play a 1-7 hours each day, depends on how I feel

The XP-55 had some obvious design flaws and it is amazing they never were addressed! The handling would have been greatly improved if the vertical stabilizers were moved in more, a small rudder was mounted under the nose of the plane, and the horizontal stabilizers (canards) were enlarged.
I fell in love with the Chaffee back in the xbox360 World of Tanks days when it was a tier 5 light tank that would cost you silver every time you played it because you'd get stuck in tier10 games and be one shot with a 60k repair fee. It had the T37 turret that was as big as the chassis and it was so adorable. Every time you turned the turret to the side it looked like a battleship broadsiding, like it would tip itself over. It was so cute, I miss those days. Then I went to War Thunder and realistic and not a total meme machine. Felt like it couldn't pen much of anything (though it was in my early days so very well could have just been terrible at the game) and I was heartbroken. Still loved it, but just wasn't the same as whipping around the map like an RC-car with a nuke dispenser in WoT.
Always love the videos where you gotta say "this isn't an excuse to play the ____" as they're always fun basic vehicles. You should do one taking out the Panzer 4 F2 and give that BF 109 with the 15mm gun a try again. I remember your last video on it, you didn't really care for it much, but I remember yelling at my screen for you to switch ammo belts to the AP rounds. Even versus aircraft those rounds do work, just aim for engines, but they're quite fun against tanks going top-down. Small caliber round, so the damage isn't the craziest, but they're accurate.

I love this plane. My town has the world's only surviving XP-55. Fell in love with it as a kid at the Air Zoo. So I tried it in War Thunder. Turns out, it's freakin amazing. Though I miss when it fit into my 3.7 Lineup with the Ram and the T18.
your situational awareness while flying is damn good. i never see things on the ground as easily as you can, by the time i do im getting shot at or need to pull off. need that 4k monitor :(
Funny thing is, this thing IRL was only armed with 4x .50 cals. It even shows on the nose where there are 4 holes for them, and the protrusions for the cannons aren’t there on the real thing. Not that I’m complaining since several other planes also have innacurate weaponry, and this plane is a pretty nice stress-reliever.
xp-55 at least used to be able to turn faster by forcing a jackknife to help turn on targets. This added with the roll is very powerful. It will slip if pushed hard enough on the yaw.
I got a 1 hour test drive of the XP-55 not too long ago. I only play sim these days, took it into 5.0-6.3 and had alot of fun. Its a great plane!! I struggled a bit getting used to how it handled but it did well at 5.0-6.3. Used engine mec and closed radiators and it performed like a beast!! Shame i only had it for 1 hour so wasnt really able to tweak my settings and get used to it. I will be uploading a short montage of that game at some point.
Hey Phly, in a similar vein to the XP-55, you should run the British Whirlwind P.9 and use its 4 somm with ground belts to go tank hunting. What i've noticed (at least from a patch or 2 ago) is that they often detonate engines and fuel tanks, allowing them to almost ohk medium tanks

8:20 I think good practice for xp-55 in general is shoot and then turn fast. there is a habit of looking for the bullets to hit and fire while doing so. If you learn to shoot and turn you will find out the bullets that hit are fired much earlier than you think and you save ammo and can get out of their quicker and still usually get the kill.
In sim, this plane is so criminally undertiered, it can fight in T2 battles. It can face he112, hurricanes, early E model 109s, laggs, hell - this tier is often about late biplanes vs early monoplanes!
The Chaffee is a great little tank, fast, light, great against other lighter vehicles, can clean up Panzers at close range like you showed *pop* *pop*, that 50cal too ♥ it can spot and has smoke. What's not to love?! My favorite past time is hunting SPAA with it.

I’ve been running the XP-55 with ground belts in my line up for a while. Also added the B34 as well for its manoeuvrability at low alt bombing.
You wanna know about a diamond in the ruff? Play the Sav m/43 (1946) at 3.0. 105mm heat with 240mm of pen. Dunks on everything
