I've had this unit for a couple weeks. The closest gas supply (22 miles) don't do swaps. Their cheapest tank to buy is $360 + $65 for the fill. After you buy the full tank it gets even weirder. When you take the empty tank back, they send it out to get filled. It takes 7 to 10 days to get it back. The next closest supply is 77 miles. Their smallest tank is $260 with $54 fill. The best part is they have swaps. They will let you trade the small tank for a 125 and just charge $67 for the fill. Until I buy a new tank, I'm trying to find one of Marketplace or Craigslist, then have it filled. I want two tanks, though. Sucks not being able to tig weld.
Wow thats wild that they wont do swaps or fill there! I grew up in a small town in Nebraska though so I can totally feel the pain of long drives to go get things done.
I got one for stainless exhaust pipe and it works really well, the only thing I recommend is to get a knockoff wp17 torch because its way slimmer and also a foot pedal
Just got mine ordered. This will be my first TIG welder and the first time I have used one in over 30 years. Looking forward to more vids on this welder and seeing other projects you have planned.
just got mine yesterday. This vid is super helpful and I'm amped to get started with it. I've been a noob level DIY MIG welder for a year or so, but have been really wanting to try TIG, especially with all the aluminum and stainless projects I have stacking up. Just bought some cheap rails to mount my solar to my roof (been on a ground mount rack), folks say I'll need to reinforce the aluminum roof rails to keep them from bending in high winds, so I figure that'll be a cool first project. Only thing I need is to go get some 100% argon, I hear the 75/25 mix is no good and will oxidize.
I owned 3 yeswelder and the last recent one I bought has the button to turn on while using Tig. Hands down, good as* machine. I tried the 120v miller Tig and I felt that the yeswelder is up there with the miller. But I do independently run a 20amp breaker for the 120v yeswelder.
Very cool. I’ve always been curious to learn how to rig welding for custom RC but was always put off by the expense of buying the equipment. This is at a much more affordable price point that I might finally jump in. I’m going to wait to see the series you are going to start to make sure I’m comfortable and confident enough that I can do it. Thanks for the continued educational content you provide.
Great Video. I like seeing the settings for smaller scale. I use a HF 205 and it does well. Not as inexpensive as this. Tig burns a lot of gas with pre flow and post flow. I have upgraded my bottle twice. I wish I would have just gone big in the beginning...
I bought an inexpensive torch off Amazon. Disassemble the stock torch and unscrew the fitting under the heat shrink. You’ll want to remove the wire lead that goes to the button and pickup the YesWelder pedal. That’s really all there is to it. It goes smoothly once you start diving in.
Hopefully they get more soon because I’m so happy with this machine! I swapped the torch for a $12 torch and am using the foot pedal now, and it feels just as good as any machine I own.
@@HarleyDesignsInc there’s some on eBay but not as cheap as direct with your discount. May just get one there. I’d be interested in seeing which torch you went with.
I’ve got the 200 amp version that’s rebranded. They’re great welders. My brother got rid of his Lincoln mig he’s had for 25 years for a new yes welder mig this year. They make a great product.
They do alright. The rectifier circuit is similar to all the other low cost inverter rigs. They need to upgrade the power divider so they can do better on 110. Wouldn't hurt if they'd stop inflating their output numbers, too.
I went thru the link to see what the shipping to Canada would cost and to my surprise they are offering free shipping here as well it appears. with tax and conversion this welder is just over the $320 to Ontario Canada
@M70ACARRY We ended up with a relatively grubby batch of 5356 rods many years ago that needed a quick cleaning beforehand. After that it became a habit. Try it, you'll be surprised how much black crap comes off them, maybe a production line lubricant?
should we get the twt 200DC on sale for $480 if starting out and have welded stick before for large projects? Wouldnt mind being able to run aluminum also. Thoughts on the twt 200DC? Thanks Josh!
Interesting to watch . It’s faster to start than brazing with gas but I am not convinced it’s something I need just yet as I am still learning brazing. I am interested to watch the next build when you have had a chance to familiarise yourself with the new unit. Probably a bit unfair to judge to much on the first two joints? Out of curiosity in the next video can you give a comparison in cost between those rods and the silver brazing rods. Stay safe.
Yes I have done the traditional TIG welding method with standard TIG filler many times. It's the only method I used up until 2018-19 I believe. But after I started TIG brazing instead, I have found absolutely zero reason to go back to that. If there was any benefit to using the standard filler instead of silicon bronze, then I'd go back. The strength of the joints is a non-issue and that's the only area where it could offer a better result.
Please check out the TOOLIOM 135A Stick/Lift TIG Welder, it’s $100 and there was a RUclipsr that put it thru its paces and said it’s really good, just doesn’t have a foot pedal,
