    Were you able to get an adapter and use the tig torch shown in the beginning of video ? If so how well does it work ? I’m thinking of getting one for myself

    Nice, would you recommend for practicing pipe welding at home? Thanks

    have you tried your tig with the foot pedal yet? did the foot pedal allow you to adjust the amperage? read reviews that the foot pedal is just a on /off switch like the button on the tig torch with no amp adjustment.

      I have used the foot pedal and I find it extremely useful! Variable amperage is so much better! I’ll post a link to it!

    I’d recommend keeping your torch more vertical, when you have it angled sideways the way you had it. Your arc flares outward more because of the angle, and will eat your filler metal back making the welds look worse, and make it much harder to weld. With tig you want the arc very precise, so more vertical. Other than that, not bad honestly. Seen much worse. Practice makes perfect. Hardest thing will be not dipping your tungsten. It’s frustrating, but if you dip the tungsten, highly recommend just sharpening it again. Anyways, again, keep on keeping on and burning up filler wire and welding. You’ll get the hang of it in no time.

      Thanks for the advice! I've started keeping at least 6 tungsten sharp and ready just to save time, but I find myself reaching for them less. And the angle- I have tried to fix, Got to keep the gas concentrated or it looks bad- like you said.

      @@hatleyhomestead much easier said than done. I mean, that’s a whole lot better than when I started. Love seeing people get into welding as it’s not only my profession but one of my hobbies. Tig is the trickiest to learn, but you’re not doing too shabby.

    You are welding with a way to steep of angle. 10⁰-15⁰ is ideal.

      @hatleyhomestead I've been Tig Welding for a while. It takes time, but you'll get it with practice and patience.

    I recommend using 100% helium for tig not argon. 100% argon works for tig but not recommended it’s better for mig welding

    The ground clamp should be on the negative terminal, the tungsten will burn out on positive

    • @hatleyhomestead
      @hatleyhomestead  9 месяцев назад +3

      I respectfully disagree. When welding DCEN (direct current electro negative) stainless steel, mild steel, titanium,chromoly- the tungsten is the electrode and thus always goes in the negative port. Earth lead- or ground goes to positive. If you don’t believe me, read your machines manual or give it a shot. But be sure you can afford a ton of tungsten. BTW this is also true for AC welding for aluminum.
