  • I have sold a few of these IS 250s and they all seem to have the same peeling belt molding issue. Here is a cheap fix to avoid the expensive ($200) factory replacement option. It takes less than an hour to do all four doors.

    That is such a well-timed video! I was literally planning to cough up and replace mine - didn't even think of painting them like that - guess what I'm doing this weekend now, thanks!

    I replaced all the belt moldings yesterday on my 2010 IS250 AWD. I followed the steps in this video. Actually, it was a very fast process. It took about 20-25 minutes per each front door. One thing I'd like to point out is, you do not need to take off the rubber bumper and the rear section panel piece. Once you get the door panel off, you only need to remove the one front push clip for the window trim to be released slightly to gain access to the bolt for the triangle piece. The rear belt moldings are a breeze to replace and only take 15 seconds. Thanks for having this video as the initial guide to learn from. Now I know that removing the door panels on my Lexus is an easy process.

  • @kixtonjordan9521
    @kixtonjordan9521 Год назад +1

    I would have hit it with a quick coat of matte finisher after the paint, gives it more protection and dulls the shine to match the rest of the trim better

    • @Matt_from_Florida
      @Matt_from_Florida Год назад +1

      That SEM Trim paint is a semi-gloss to begin with, which matches the trim on most cars. SEM also makes a full-gloss trim paint for those who believe that new paint should always be shiny. Those trim paints push the fact that it's "one & done". No primer or clear-coat required. It's far from being a new product as I was using it in the 1980s, so I can say that it adheres forever without peeling.

    I’m here from your frame pulling videos. I’m currently in a twist with my past dads totaled 1998 f150 that was rear ended and totaled which is now a salvage title. No major or small shops want touch it because of title and some people just don’t have the time to deal with it. I’m currently thinking about taking a shot at it myself with the harbour freight hydraulic unit. I would love to get your insight from some pictures or something, if you think it’s worth doing or not

    • @ShainAndrews
      @ShainAndrews Год назад

      Shop could care less of the title status. Paid... that is what they are concerned about... getting paid. Most shops around here are running full tilt on insurance jobs and we're not even into summer hail season yet. I'll add one more comment on title status. It is a fiscal declaration. When a repair is worth near or more than the value of the vehicle it gets totaled. It has NOTHING to do with damage severity, nor suitability for repair.

    Note.
    There’s a very strong likelihood that someone will have used a silicone trim polish and or treatment on the mouldings bumpers etc.
    This silicone crap is a total nuisance when trying to paint stuff and may not be fully cleaned off by wax and grease remover so extra cleaning and care is a must before painting.
    If you see a chalky residue built up on the dashboard and trim pieces it’s almost guaranteed that someone has used a silicone wax treatment on it.

    Wow I was just discussing this issue on both Reddit and ClubLexus so this is great to see! If I could ask a question about that driver's door panel - Mine won't close the pocket door at the bottom fully on the left side (near the water bottle curve) it seems the previous owner pulled to hard. Thoughts on how to address it? Thank you for all of your videos and especially the phrase "bi*ch mittens" as a name for gloves because I've used it myself and made others laugh.
